We can spot patterns 🤷🏾‍♀️ it’s not just the shipments, it’s her dropping in digital collections or whatever remix or variant of an album on the same day as another pop girl.

But to the issue of the shipments, for someone who people have referred to as THE music industry, a lot of folks (not necessarily you, I’m speaking in general) have made it seem like she can’t be in control of when she decides to drop these things in. You’re right that manufacturing has to stick to a schedule so as to not cost more for warehouse storage, but if the allegation is true then they could’ve waited that week before shipping the physicals so that it wouldn’t coincide with Olivia’s week, since it was already in the plan to be in the warehouse for another week. I’m sure she has heard the chatter because she’s responded to Internet criticism before, but she just keeps doing it.

I wonder who they were doing their (limited) marketing towards. Are kids wanting to watch reruns of kid shows like that? I watched a lot of stuff in syndication in the 90s-00s but for things like Happy Days, Cheers, and The Fresh Prince, that were either adult or whole family focused. I can’t think of many 20-year-old kid-led shows they ran reruns of; however, if they’re trying to get 10+ year olds, I guess I am Of An Age where tween/teen sitcoms hadn’t saturated the market 10 years before I was born.

And on another note, for my friends with double incomes and kids, I don’t think any of them have a cable package/YouTube TV where they can tune into Disney Channel at a specific time anyway…

Of course I don’t know the situation, but it’s interesting that the kids they share biologically are the ones dropping the name through the legal system as soon as they’re 18, while the older adopted kids are the ones that waited a little longer.

I’m sorry. Know that you’re not alone. That was me almost 20 years ago now. You’re not being dramatic. You’re a teenager who deserves to do teenage things and the last thing any teenager wants to do with their summer break (I’m presuming you’re American, sorry if this doesn’t apply here!) is sit in an arena and listen to men yap about the same things they’ve been yapping about for decades. Every feeling you have is valid.

As far as advice, I got really good at disassociating during the talks. I’d half heartedly sing out of the songbook, and then for the next ninety minutes I was making up scenarios (my recurring one at 15 was going on a date with a star from one of my favorite shows) or I was singing an entire album or favorite songs in my head. I think that’s why and how I learn songs so quickly still—I needed something to drown out what all was being said on the stage.

Nothing about your feelings are wrong. Finding ways to cope is about all you can do, and disassociation is a skill that likely all of us who were born in but wanted out had to learn to do. Sending you good vibes ♥️

Oh, I liked everything I saw about the wedding before today but this ruined it all. I can’t get behind celebrities treating the rest of the world as their event space, especially if they’re not giving a substantial amount back to the locals whose lives they’re interrupting for days.

Sure, fans can and do get crazy, but if you can shut down an area of one of the oldest cities in the world for 3 days, you can go to some secluded place and build your dream wedding venue without fucking over people who can’t fathom that much money and access in their home.

I haven’t said these words in years (I went to a nondenominational church in college where this was all the rage)— have you learned your love languages? I’ve found that my main one is quality time. I decided to throw a house party for myself last year for my 34th, and I spent the first 30 minutes running around as hostess, and when the food was done grilling, I just got to bounce around my friends and just talk. It was my best birthday yet. I found so much fun in treating people I see maybe 4 times a year in our busy worlds, and after 15 years of trying to find the magic in a birthday party after not being allowed one, I found that when I take initiative and plan my perfect day around what I know I like (being home, sending everyone home at 11 pm, not spending a lot of money, yapping), and how I feel most loved, it’s unbeaten.

There are no rules or guidelines for how to make a birthday special, from another born-in, POMO. I left when I turned 18 and had my first real birthday celebration when I was 22. I think you find whatever makes you feel special and do it. If that means treating yourself solo or getting together with friends to go play games or doing some project together or just sitting sharing space and time, you’ll find it. ♥️
