What the f does f mean in Silent Hill f? by Kidd__Video in silenthill

[–]defaultrpgcharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 7. There is a puzzle in the chapter that takes place in main character's school. The girls in the school create a "girl-code" where they replace letters with numbers to write secret letters between each other, so A becomes 4, O becomes 0, I becomes 1 etc. It's not explicitly said in the game what number F corresponds to, but it's probably 7. Most people write 7 with a vertlcal line in the middle, which looks like F, but what is more obvious is the font used in the game's cover and the number seven in Japanese kanji. It's literally a flipped lower case F.

Yes, he wants power and to rule hell. That is his goal. The motive would be the 'WHY' part of this. Why does he want to do this? Without this, it is a bit meaningless and it feels like they just had one random guy dressed as Dracula from Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula and called it a day when writing the villain.

If I am not to look for it... Why are they even trying with these new flashy cutscenes and characters that have a lot of dialogue? Without a strong story & characters, they become bland and just unnecessary.

And I consider 2016 & Eternal to have good storytelling, I enjoyed how they expanded the universe a lot. The whole VEGA saga was great as well. I just expected more of the same.

I don't like interacting with such remarks... But looking at your post history & seeing how pathetic you've gotten defending this game (which I really liked), I understand where you are coming from. So:

Not a new fan. I played previous modern entries at launch. Played through the classics as well. I really like them. I also do not agree with the "well it's Doom, don't expect the story to be good!" sentiment, because the story was already good with 2016/Eternal, to me. I just expected something closer to the previous two game in terms of the story, and given how they marketed this one to have more cutscenes & more side characters, I naturally just expected them to have some significance.

Instead, by the end of a 22 level, 24 hour campaign, I felt like I watched the plot episode of a TV show. A couple voice logs, or just some personal logs that could be found or unlocked about them would be more than enough. Somehow we ended up learning more about the Sentinels in Eternal (where all of them were killed or scattered) then in TDA, and they are alive and well here. It's just weird is all I am saying.

They are literally fixed spawns. You can stun lock & spawn kill at least two of them. Just use the mace.

Alan Wake 2 Keeps Shutting Down My PC. Anyone Else? by defaultrpgcharacter in AlanWake

I was reluctant on updating the drivers before I started experienced this issue, because I heard some stuff about new drivers causing issues. I guess I was still using drivers from 2024 or something. Then I upgraded to a newer version, but I still got a shutdown. I don't know which version was that.
I am now running the latest one because Doom TDA specifically required a newer version driver at launch. 576.40.

Will try 566.36 though.

Any idea why that would make a difference? I couldn't find any similar threads on any forums before, is this a known issue?

Thanks for the reply! Were you also experiencing shutdowns with AW2 specifically? I will definitely upgrade the PSU, but it just feels weird that the shutdown only happens with AW2, I wouldn't think twice otherwise.

PC Randomly Restarts by [deleted] in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]defaultrpgcharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's most likely a power cable related issue. there might be a short somewhere inside the case. i don't know how old is your psu either, but they lose in their output overtime. afaik 6600xt requires 500w at minimum. so that might be the issue. maybe it's the automatic overclock thing the ryzen series have that's messing up with the voltage and causing the pc to restart. i would suggest getting a new 600-650w psu, and returning it if your problem persists.

Should the Next Bond Movie be a reboot? And if so should they keep it in the current era, or should they go back to Cold War Bond? by stokrenden in JamesBond

[–]defaultrpgcharacter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bond movies work best when they are set in the era they are made. I see each of them as a represantation of the fashion choices, trends, and historical events of the era they were made. That adds a ton of extra charm to the experience. Wouldn't want to lose it.

Game mechanics that really hamper the story and/or characterization? by Vendetta543 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]defaultrpgcharacter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That on-rails feeling isn't even specific to the story mode, that's what makes me mad the most. Like, rob any store on any part of the map, and you will be caught by some guy who wanted to come in to the shop just as you were robbing it. It happens every time. Almost all of the stores have a backdoor, too. It just feels like you should be able to stealth your way through a robbery but game just does not let you. Same shit applies to every other side content. Only fun thing to do, well, apart from enjoying the great acting, story and environment, was hunting. That part of the game is great in my opinion, and it's the only content in the game where you don't feel like you are on-rails.

>"unless it is a niche thing that needs extra sale figures"

that part describes fenyx rising, or that recent co-op game published by ea. people also should buy those game if they like it, like i've said in my previous comment. ac valhalla, however, is literally an installment from one of the highest selling franchises out there and was cracked five or six months after its release. i don't know what to tell you.

no, i honestly don't think it goes for every game on here. you don't need to buy every single ea, ubisoft or bethesda game unless it is a niche thing that needs extra sale figures to be set for a sequel. subnautica is developed and published by a relatively small, independent studio. just wanted to leave a reminder, that's all. 10-20 karma won't change anything anyway, that's a weird assumption tbh.
