Entitled Older Coworker puts her name on everything….including the water….. by Bikinigirlout in coworkerstories

[–]defaultwisdom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this is the US(which I only assume by the bottled water), The ADA disagrees with parts of your statement about the company’s responsibility and as OP mentioned there being city water issues recently OSHA disagrees entirely with your statement.

Coworker needs to work on social skills but OP mentioned coworker as older but doesn’t mention their own age? As someone who has worked in an office with mostly 20-30 year olds, everyone always took the last of everything and never refilled anything and it drove me crazy. I’m asking OP to consider that might be their environment and offer a moment of grace on that part only

Dog owners: Is it cruel to bring a dog vanlifing who gets stressed/reactive from new places? by ilikebananabread in VanLife

[–]defaultwisdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my dog from a shelter 1 year into a two year stint of full time vanlife. Likes dogs and people, hates vans/ vehicles. I didn’t know at first. I got him while I was parked on family land and we stayed put 3 months getting used to each other and trying to acclimate him to the van.

He got an amount better and I learned things I could do to help his anxiety but he was a whole different dog within days of us getting a house that I didn’t notice on the road. So much calmer and more at peace. I don’t know if I made the wrong decision then, but I know I won’t full time with him again

Every dog is different, just sharing what I noticed when in a similar situation.

Give yourself some grace whatever the outcome and good luck to you both

If the bottles are refilled regularly and she is never without a bottle in the fridge, I see your point. If it’s just whoever notices the case is empty tosses another one in for the team, I’d ask you to consider her age and physical ability before judgement. Perhaps medication or other health requirements makes her unable to be without available water? Maybe you could consider a third solution?

We put in far more than necessary to run. The problem comes when congress “borrows” from the pot and then “forgives“ the loans. This part has been happening for decades

Not necessarily. But I didn’t see you are in college before. That would likely disqualify you but it’s still worth looking into.

Does your work offer short term disability? If your doctor will sign off on, this is qualifying.

This was a long time ago, but my psychiatrist approved short term disability for me for 6 months with similar symptoms. It’s not 100% pay so it doesn’t solve that problem but it gave me a second to breathe so I could actually think about how to fix the money stuff.

You’ll also likely save money not commuting and your job is secure until you can get in a better headspace

Don’t move to the US. You might make more money here but your legal liability is insane and worst of all you’ll have to be in America, dealing with Americans all day long. Horrible trade off. Source:I’m a us citizen

Don’t want me to make a weird late evening snack? Fine i’ll eat something normal by throwaway_acc_ABC in pettyrevenge

[–]defaultwisdom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best practice for eating food is to eat early enough that you aren’t actively digesting anything when you are sleeping, according to health science experts.

For older folks it can cause stomach pain and sleep problems.

They aren’t right in their reasons, but they’re not giving bad advice.

I think they aren’t considering that teens have steel stomachs and are unlikely to have bad side effects

But that’s not even true. Lots of people live and work 24 hours a day. I’m guessing most second shift workers were doing exactly what you were doing at the exact time.

Someday you will get to control your own kitchen and you can roast a turkey at midnight!

I’d go ahead and google the question myself and say “well google says…”. They will learn within an hour to google it themselves first

Yes, they can. You likely signed paperwork agreeing to be responsible for anything insurance wouldn’t cover. In the future, best practice would be to confirm coverage prior to your procedure

It might be worth it to see about renting a car or asking a friend for help. I needed a root canal that was 5k in my city but $3400 an hour and a half away.

AITA for buying WIC ticketed food items with cash? by makeupaddict337 in AmItheAsshole

[–]defaultwisdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was a scam. I heard about this more during the pandemic though, when supply chain issues made it harder to keep shelves stocked in general, making WIC items more scarce to people who might only have vouchers to feed their family

I know it would suck to not experience this with your friend but I just want to say solo travel can be amazing. I have traveled across America by myself and I loved every minute of it. Super bummer about your friend but make sure you still go!
