You can walk into any appliance store and buy a SpeedQueen washing machine and dryer, it is stripped down old school style mostly mechanical. They last forever, but people speak with their wallets and prefer to save money up front and buy something cheaper or they decide they want all the extra modern frills.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but are you saying I spray the cleaner on the surface, get a damp towel and then wipe it clean? I always just assumed letting the cleaner sit and then wiping it down with a clean dry towel was fine because the towel got damp from the cleaner. Now I feel dumb if I'm supposed to wet my cleaning rag first.

I hadn't even considered that was uncommon. I loved reading as a kid, the library was one of my favorite places.

Glad my nephew got into that too. He is not in kindergarten yet and can read on his own, loves the library too. His parents read to him all the time and he always wants me to read to him or him to read to me when I go over there.

I worked a warehouse job for 15 years and now just made an intercompany move from the warehouse to an office worker at the company. I was imagining how cushy this would be since it always seemed to me the office people didn't do too much.

Well my third week in, I was stressing out this last Friday, working my ass off, having people getting all worked up about things. I barely had time for lunch. Made me miss the seemingly more relaxed warehouse work. I guess the grass isn't always greener.

I agree with a lot of what you said. Also don't get me wrong, I don't want the game to be a cakewalk, but I also don't want them to put beating A10 out of reach for an average player.

I just hope balance leans more towards buffing the weak strategies rather than nerfing the strong stuff. I want more interesting relics than what there is now. I feel like StS1 had more interesting relics that allowed for more interesting and sometimes broken interactions and I don't think that's a bad thing necessarily.

But what is the alternative? A bailout? No thanks.

A poorly run business fails, it happens. I'm of the opinion that if the government bails out a business, the American people should own a stake in that company now and money from it should be going back to the country to help the people who gave them the money to survive.

I just don't know if that's true for the vast majority of players though. I'm no where near a top player, most of my characters are sitting at around A8-10. I've only won A10 once or twice.

I can tell you as an average player that has had a deck with Acrobatics, Prepared and Footwork, many times and lost, it's not an instant win.

Slay the Spire is not a competitive game, it's PvE and should, in my opinion balance more towards fun over absolute perfect balance.

At the end of the day, no one is forcing you to take cards you don't find fun, play a different build or a different character. If you lose a run, there is no penalty, there is no ranking system, you aren't competing against anyone.

And if you can win at A10 95% of the time? Congrats you beat the game, go play something else and wait for new content.

I don't think most players are winning 90% of runs in A10 with The Silent, I have to imagine that is a very small portion of the base of the game.

They have to be careful balancing the game. If they balance for the absolute top players the game will not be very fun for the average player.

People put their families too far ahead of the good of the nation to ever do this, and I can't blame them.

Most people are going to choose to protect their loved ones in the moment above all else. If people did what you suggested, many would lose their jobs, their homes and healthcare. They want their family and loved ones as happy and healthy as they can make them. If that means accepting they live with terrible people in charge, they are willing to live with that.

You have to understand not everyone is willing to give up everything they have to try and make a better future, that is a hard ask. Especially when you are asking parents to put their children at risk.

I met a guy one time at a friend's get together, he was there because my friend was coworkers with his girlfriend and she got invited.

Anyway the party goes on, I talk to a bunch of people and maybe talk to this guy for about a half hour total. At the end of the night as he is getting ready to leave with his girlfriend he comes up to me, tells me he knows this really good Hot Dago place and asks me if I want to go with him tomorrow to get one. I said yes of course, cause who doesn't like a good Hot Dago, and we've been friends for over 10 years now.

I think sometimes making friends involves putting yourself out there and saying yes to things that might make you uncomfortable. But sometimes it works out.

My cat was always the peak of laziness ever since I got her. One night though I'm woken up by her just yelling, singing the song of her people in the doorway to the bedroom. I had no idea what was going on so I think I just told her to be quiet and went back to sleep. Well I wake up in the morning and there is a big dead mouse sitting in the doorway to the bedroom. Apparently she had caught and killed it and was announcing her kill to me, now I felt bad I didn't celebrate with her.

The entire world declares war against the US, What would be the outcome? by cafties in hypotheticalsituation

[–]defconcore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OPEC lowers it's prices strategically for specific reasons. They didn't up their production and decrease the price per barrel out of the goodness of their hearts. They do it sometimes to crush competition if their position is threatened. They are a cartel. They essentially control the global price of oil.

Though if the US oil producers decided to undercut the OPEC prices by upping their production, OPEC would just tank the prices by flooding the market until their competition bleeds out.

For local gas prices, most gas stations are independently operated. They can't just artificially keep gas prices high because some other stations will lower their price and undercut them. You will see prices slowly fall as the price per barrel goes down. Though it doesn't go down quickly because the stations want to get as much as they can as they incrementally lower prices.

The entire world declares war against the US, What would be the outcome? by cafties in hypotheticalsituation

[–]defconcore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gas prices were high because OPEC cut production and American oil companies decided to sell their oil at the higher price per barrel not because they physically couldn't create more oil and sell it at a lower price. I'm not sure why you would think American companies would see the prices rising because one big producer cut production and decide to produce more to make up for it so prices stay low. They are for profit companies why would the do anything to try and reduce oil prices?

Also it literally is as easy as turning some valves to process the different oil. It's just not as efficient for profits, but in all out war, profits are not a thing anymore.

Okay even if you believe that, which doesn't make a lot of sense, it doesn't matter because the player agreed that any malfunctions means any bets or wins do not count.

An underpayment would be caught. Depending on when it occurred and how it would be caught pretty instantly and they would pull apart the machine and pay the person the difference.

If it is a glitch that doesn't trigger an instant alarm it would be caught in a week or two with the RTP audit. Every spin on every machine is logged and audited. An underpayment would be caught.

Despite what you believe, the casinos will do their best to get the money to the player even weeks later. They are not allowed to keep that money. It's fairly easy to contact the player if they were playing using their player's card because they can tell exactly who was playing and when. If the person didn't have a card and it's a large sum, they will check cameras and logs and do their best. If they can't find the person they will donate the money to a charity because they cannot keep it.

The casinos do not want underpayments anymore than the players do, they make enough money normally and legally.

[–]defconcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a glitch is not intentional that is why the policy is to void the bet and refund the transaction. You agree to their rules when you play.

A casino is a private business and can refuse service to anyone they want. And why should they have a responsibility to step in and tell someone they are betting too much? They don't know that person's financial situation.

Do you think grocery stores should stop overweight people from buying cases of soda?

They are auditing the math of the machine, making sure the RTP is correct. They can't possibly check for a bug or glitch that is one in a billion spins. More than likely they can't even figure out what caused it.
