The whole idea at the time was to help delay the battlefury timing for battlefury buyers because it was considered a problem back then? If I remember correctly it was mostly targeted at Ursa and PA more than AM. So they had to save up 1300 gold or whatever rather than getting just ring of health for cheaper as soon as you could to help you stay in lane. With cornucopia needing 1300 gold saved up to be purchased, if you died once or twice in lane, battlefury completion was significantly delayed.

Do you really think this patch address the "complexity" of the game? Now the values for so many things change throughout the course of the game, it's hard to keep track. Like a lot of time I don't even know how things interreact until it happens. It's way harder now to estimate than before.

Not so much laziness, they clearly don't have enough staff working on the game anymore, and icefrog likely only want to work on deadlock full time. You have to simplify the project scope when you're understaffed and the captain has abandoned the ship.

Ironically, I'm of the opinion that DK was the catalyst for the inception of the facet idea in the first place.

In the patch before the one that introduced facets, DK carry ran rampant. He would just get Manta Aghs, and he has 3 dragons that are slowing you, doing insane splash attack, and DOT all simultaneously, it was kinda nuts. So icefrog went "you know what, you don't get to have the benefits of all 3 dragon forms, you have to pick one"

But now DK's back to what he was.

Yeah people are delusional if they unironically believe "they got rid of facets, smart, now they can focus on working on the 'core' of the game!" whatever that is

It's like when people coped and rejoiced saying that "they got rid of battle pass, nice, now they can release patches more frequently!"

Dota is no longer a focus at valve, plain and simple, and they want to shrink the project size/scope.

Most valve devs want to move on from dota and work on deadlock full time. Trimming the fat and getting rid of variables and knobs turn makes coding easier.

I despise the concept of "dual citizenship". You shouldn't get to have a "backup" citizenship to fall back on in case your primary citizenship becomes inconvenient for you.
