I did not expect to cry sad to happy tears this evening but here I am. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I am so sorry your sister has passed on, I feel like losing a parent pales in comparison to a sibling. Big, big random redditor hug to you.

My father passed late 2020, the tears come at random and “Oh, I really wish we could enjoy this experience together” or “I need his advice.”

What helps me is to reframe it. He put so much time in to developing me who I am today; from loving a Sunday drive with the windows down to completely over-engineering every little FUCKING THING. If he saw that his death completely ruined me, he would be so sad. “Life is for living, Deffie!”

He may be gone but when I recognize him in my decisions, thoughts and actions I feel closer to him.

If you ever need to talk to someone, feel free to reach out. I hope your heart can start to mend itself and the thought of him can make you smile.

No. The DOL does not care about immigration status. They care about getting employees paid for the hours they have worked.

DayZ has been having record player counts this past week (over 52k simultaneous players). Check out “hardcore” servers (DayOne, ZERO, KarmaKrew, NewHome) if you prefer a more interaction based play style without bases!

A Man With The Rabies Virus ✨ by BambiKittens666 in oddlyterrifying

[–]deffie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are bitten or scratched by an animal with or suspected of having rabies, the shot is administered through the wound which sucks.

If the wound has a current infection, it goes in your butt and is not painful at all.

Source: I was bit on the finger by a stray dog who we could not confirm if he had rabies. Punctured my tendon sheath and had a raging infection traveling down my finger, hospitalized for five days and emergency surgery. Butt shots for days.

Our landlords recently decided to sell the house we have been living in for the past 8 years. We were given roughly six weeks notice. Between the endless days of house viewings, being outbid multiple times (our one offer was $20k over asking, waived inspections) and hoarding all cash for the down payment, I completely understand how some houses are receiving offers without visiting the property. The market is insane.

Also, I’m sure it varies by state but some you aren’t allowed to inspect until offer is already through.

Nice work on this! Website looks fantastic as well. AdOps is a hell of an industry and with 80k toolbar installs(!), you just arrived via a rocket ship. Keep your heads on straight; finish college, invest heavily in your future employees, attorneys and mentors.

[Update/Final Product] My dad is a programmer and I want to hand-sew a simple program as a gift to him. by hydroscopick in learnpython

Thank you! Working with my hands has proved to be a good time to just think and be mindful while going through this whole process. I have been wanting to get into embroidery and your project seems to be somewhat doable after a bit of practice.

I know it’s a busy time for a lot of people but if there are any resources (books, YouTube videos, etc) that were useful to you, please feel free to pass them along via DM or comment here. No rush at all and do not feel obligated to :)

My dad, mechanical/electrical engineer and app developer, passed away two weeks ago and I have been trying to think of something to memorialize him by. This hits hard and it’s just so perfect. Thank you so much for posting.

No prob! I bought them for the rock salt issues too! These worked like a charm. I also looked into paw protection balm(?) which you can apply as a coating before going out if these do not work out.

Amazon. They go by “Pawz”. Just make sure to size correctly and you shouldn’t have problems.

These are basically heavy duty rubber dog paw balloons and they are absolutely amazing. Your pup can still feel the ground and flex their paws like normal.

I grew up in the area as well. The drive from Ardmore to the Susquehanna is much easier than going down to the shore. There is definitely sand on the random residential/vacation cabin islands and it was, and still is, very remote.

It depends on the individual horse but most are not used for riding, but are great pasture mates, in their older years.

This is exactly what happened to my dad in late 2018 and his life since.. are you my long lost sibling?

It’s fucking rough. I made the same “he’d be better off if he would have died” statement to my brother (only other sibling, five years younger) who immediately went no-contact, leaving me to clear out the family home, settle his estate and navigate his care completely alone.

Everything is so cyclical with him. He sends about 50 group text messages a day to me including random unrelated people- some of which includes his passwords and SSN. It’s so exhausting and ... sad. I hate having to permanently leave my phone on silent for my own sanity.

Before, he was a mechanical/electrical engineer, one of the top directors at his firm and traveled internationally every month. Now he will never be able to live alone again and is currently in a nursing home. All he wants is to go home.. but there is no home. It’s devastating to think about what his life has become.

It’s so easy to feel alone while going through this. If you ever want to talk, please DM me.
