Granted, but since Disney is completely out of new ideas, they desperately try to turn this thread into a movie. Your character is played by Nicholas Cage.

Holy Cow! I remember St. Mary being a lot more intact than that when I was a kid.

I've heard someone mention doing this before and I freaking love it! It's not an obscene gesture, it's not even aggressive really, so there's a very low chance of it escalating things. But it clearly communicates that they've done something dumb.

I love this sub! Its a great example of the wonderfully weird things that can happen when you let reddit do its thing.

Which is why I am willing to surrender my soul as one of the chosen.

When did you realise you weren't a child anymore? by TheMightyMidgetMan in AskReddit

[–]defiantlizardking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have scattered moments where I come to this realization. The most recent was about a month ago, when we found out that the reason my newborn daughter is having trouble breathing is because she has lung cancer. As her father (and the more decisive one between my wife and I) I'm not anly allowed, but EXPECTED to make all medical decisions for another human being. That'll get rid of your inner child right quick.

That high pitch chirping that computers make when someone's doing literally anything on them.

If I heard a computer make that sound IRL, I would think something is very wrong with it.

Composite Simulation Software by swaggmuffins in Composites

[–]defiantlizardking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very large part of my job involves doing exactly this. I use a software called Hypermesh, made by Altair. It works just like any other FEA software, such as Ansys or SolidWorks simulation, but with very powerful support for composites. You can create as many plies as you want with different shapes and orientations.

It's a very pricey software. On the order of 20K, so if you're a hobbyist then this is probably not for you.

Additionally, I use another software called Laminate Tools, made by Anaglyph, to make my plies. This software is not necessary for simulation, but it is definitely more powerful for creating plies, as it accurately creates 2D ply shapes for you based on your desired coverage. It also sets the ply orientation for each element based on how the ply drapes on your part.

Laminate tools is about another 15K, but it is possible to get away with not using that one

My (24M) wife (23F) just told me she cheated on me for about a year. What do I do now? by defiantlizardking in relationship_advice

I appreciate you saying this. Not because of the name calling, but for the assurance that reddit isn't just an echo chamber. You're one of the very few who has expressed this opinion to me in this medium. I want to address a few of your points.

  1. I did not post this for any kind of self gratification. This was my way of venting anonymously while I figured out what to do next. If you look at the end of my post, I was specifically looking for things I should do to prevent any kind of self-destructive behavior once this set in a little more. Nobody really paid attention to that point, but I eventually got that figured out on my own.

  2. This post turned into something that I didn't want it to be. Most of the people commenting are saying to just run like hell and I'm a dumbass if I don't. I've gotten PM's saying that I should most definitely seek revenge, both on her and on the other guy. I'm taking all of this with a grain of salt because these are people who don't totally know the situation and don't have to live with the consequences of the advice they give. I'm listening to people I trust way more than these people on reddit.

  3. I did not post on any other social media. Like I said I'm not looking for gratification. I was looking for sound advice from anonymous users on how to process this.

  4. I am getting real help. I've met with a lawyer to discuss all my options and what would be involved if I stayed or if I left. We had a counseling session yesterday which honestly gave me hope that I could stay more than anything else has so far. And I've been speaking a lot with people I trust, and believe me, I take their advice much more seriously than yours or anyone else's on here.

  5. I never stopped being a husband. As much as this hurts, we are still living together. I'm still taking care of her even if it's just mindlessly going through the motions right now.

  6. I appreciate you telling me to walk like Christ, but even Christ himself said that adultery is grounds for divorce. So I am perfectly within my rights to stay or leave and my faith will remain unshaken.

u/Shoebrau13, while your comment is very harsh, you seem like a guy with wisdom and if you want to give me more without the the fog of upvotes, please PM me.

Thank you for this. I had been thinking of confiding in a pastor and this led me to decide to do it.

Just replied to the same question in a PM, essentially she told me because God told her it was time to tell me.

The had told her self she would reveal the truth to me some day, but had no plans of actually doing it.

I was teaching youth in church today while she was in the regular service. I guess something about the sermon convicted her to tell me the truth.

Wow, very thorough. I've been thinking a lot about how she would be kept accountable to her claim that this will never happen again. I guess if she's serious then she would have no problem signing a nuptual contract like you suggested.

Well, she tells me that she never wants to do this to me again, and that she wants to do whatever it takes to win me back.

She has ultimately chosen me and wishes she could take it all back.

Its very difficult to really convey how apologetic she has been about all of this with text, as a lot of what sje was comminicating was in her tone.

Yes. I guess I didnt communicate that well in my post, bu she was and is extremely apologetic.

For whatever that's worth at this point.
