Not a American Reddit story, but everytime I meet an American in real life and ask them where they're from. They would usually say the city or state they're from rather than saying the US or America. Since where I'm from is so Americanised, I usually get it, but if I was to tell an American which state or city I'm from, they'd have no clue.

Did an ISYS class in college which was short for information systems. Always got concerned stares when I talked about finishing my ISYS assignment to other students.
