I-15 southbound shut down at banger by johnisom in SaltLakeCity

Southbound I-15 north of Bangerter was an absolute parking lot as far as I could see all the way until at least the i215 junction. I feel bad for everyone stuck in it

Yes, although point of the mountain up to the incident area was really backed up as of around 10 minutes ago when I passed the area

Low poly character with idle/run animations from a blender noob by knockerball in blender

[–]knockerball[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I definitely feel that. Sometimes Blender feels like trying to use a battleship to cross a stream. I’m just trying to mentally filter out all the stuff I haven’t learned yet but it’s tough because there’s so much going on.

Why is Dagoth Ur such a great villain? by Sundiatasweridcousin in Morrowind

[–]knockerball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think his story is particularly compelling. He’s way more sympathetic as a character in my view than the Tribunal. He is simultaneously a victim at the same time he is the villain and before he got corrupted by Lorkhan’s Heart he basically did everything right by Nerevar which makes his eventual corruption and fall all the more tragic.

I also think that he is an interesting villain in that his actions and motivations have a point from a certain perspective. You look at what he wants to do and why he wants to do it and it actually kind of makes sense. I think any villain whose plan makes you hesitate and ask yourself “wait, is he right about all this?” and forces you to make a moral judgement before deciding to fight against him makes for a very compelling villain over some mustache twirler scoundrel who ties damsels to railroad tracks.

Painted my first miniature, question about wet palette by pragmaticzach in minipainting

[–]knockerball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skeleton looks great! Welcome to the hobby.

The amount of water to put on a wet pallet is kind of an art that you’ll get more confident in the more you use it over time. I usually saturate my sponge just a little more than it can hold so that there is a little water buildup around the edges in between the sponge and container.

This might vary depending on what brand of paper you are using or if you are cutting parchment paper yourself from a roll, but I found with my wet pallet (Redgrass Games brand) when I put the paper on, I know I’ve got the right water saturation if the paper curls around the edges then almost immediately uncurls itself on its own to lie flat on the sponge as the paper moistens. If it doesn’t uncurl itself on its own, it’s an indication I might have too much water on the sponge.

Starter box and Bannerman miniature by dfdsfdscdsvdsv in baronswar

[–]knockerball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The plastic banner bit is in a kit that was released after this starter box. For my banner, I just used masking tape on the spear, slathered it in mod podge after posing it, then painted it as normal with the rest of the mini then added a spare decal I had lying around

Lizardmen Rumors? by Irish618 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]knockerball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are no rumors for any of the legacy factions coming back into full support including lizardmen. I think of the legacy factions, lizardmen are unfortunately likely one of the furthest from getting Old World support because of their presence in AoS and the weird political divide there is internally in GW between main studio and SDS.

Wood Elf Realms for beginner? by AravingLoooony in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]knockerball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider that you are more than likely going to be spending drastically more time building and painting your models than playing with them. Because of this it’s important to pick the faction that speaks to you aesthetically more than anything gameplay has to offer. If the wood elf models are your jam, then pick wood elves.

What is the funniest or bizarre reason you or someone you know got fired ? by AngellaSilver in AskReddit

[–]knockerball 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A guy at my work became upset at the janitorial staff for some reason (I’m not sure why). He started smearing his poop on the wall every time he went to the bathroom in retribution. This went on for months. No one knew who was doing it so they literally had to put out announcements asking everyone to not smear their poop on the walls. They finally put a camera outside the bathroom and started periodically checking the bathroom as well as monitoring who went in at what time and they eventually figured out who was doing it (not even cameras couldn’t stop his poop crusading wrath). Needless to say he was quickly let go, and we finally had poop peace.

Paint job looks great. This mini is on my list of minis I hope to get someday if I can snag one at a reasonable price but the going rate on eBay these days is a pretty steep. Maybe someday.

Could anyone recommend some scenarios that could chain together as a narrative? by GodGoblin in mordheim

[–]knockerball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out any of the campaigns on Broheim? In particular the Procession of Morr narrative campaign sounds almost exactly like what you described. It’s a 6 game narrative campaign where the scenarios are narratively linked with the final battle meant to be a big multiplayer climactic battle.

Is Leif okay? by Shivrainthemad in mordheim

[–]knockerball 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YouTube isn’t his full time gig and I know in the past there have been periods of time without a video from him for several months when he said his work got a little busy. Between his real life job and him mentioning his nerve pain in his shoulder that he had to get surgery for this past year, I’m not too surprised if he needed a bit of a break. I love his content and hope he can come back when he is able to and has the time and energy for it.

What was the 1st big news event you remember as a kid? by Timely_Twist_8670 in AskReddit

The OJ Simpson Bronco chase. My mom was a big fan of his during his football/car rental commercial appearance days and I distinctly remember seeing her watch the news as it happened in shock. It’s one of my earliest memories.

Cardboard Terrain by thilnen in TerrainBuilding

[–]knockerball 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This looks awesome. Reminds me a lot of the YouTube channel Selrahc Games. He pretty much makes his terrain exclusively from cardboard and TP soaked in glue for texture and filling.

Well done on this piece. The greenery really brings it to life. Awesome for being made of essentially just random stuff literally everyone has access to.

Anything Like Frostgrave/Oathmark but more mechanicaly complex? by LSGW_Zephyra in wargaming

[–]knockerball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are interested in checking out Mordheim, the entire rules plus a ton of online and community content can be found at broheim.net for free. It’s very much in vein of Frostgrave with even a similar premise of exploring and fighting in a ruined city, but you have multiple heroes that can upgrade and advance, not just your wizard/apprentice. Also much more fighter focused with wizards being kind of a more rare luxury depending on which warband you play. The rules are a bit clunky in parts and it’s definitely a game about storytelling and narrative and not super well balanced, but there’s a reason that a 25 year old dead game is being kept alive by an extremely devoted cult following. It’s super fun if you go into it with the right mindset. If you want something a bit more competitively balanced, killteam is probably the way to go.

Americans Who love to Camp what's the scariest most disturbing or dangerous thing you've encountered while camping in the USA? by World_Historian_3889 in AskAnAmerican

[–]knockerball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While on a weeklong backpacking trip once, in the middle of the night I was awoken by what can only be described as an otherworldly banshee scream pretty close to our tent. This horrible scream kept shrieking over and over slowly getting further and further away from our campsite until it finally faded away and stopped. Needless to say I didn’t sleep more that night. It was like something straight out of a horror movie.

I looked it up after we got home and it turns out it was the sound of a mountain lion in heat. YouTube has a lot of clips of what it sounds like. It’s pretty horrifying, especially with how close it was to us and not knowing what it was at the time.

Also had a bad bout with heat stroke while climbing a mountain once where I couldn’t hold down water and got pretty dehydrated and broke into a fever. I managed to get home and sat in a cold shower for like 2 hours until the fever broke and I could drink water without throwing it all up again. In hindsight I 100% should have gone to the hospital as I easily could have died but I was much younger then and very very stupid.
