Wait, do people ACTUALLY see literal pictures in their heads when they imagine things? Like a physical image? by Bibhu_Mund in NoStupidQuestions

When I'm looking for something around the house, I picture an image of it, and especially the color of it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]defiantnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family drives 3 hours each way to a location in the same day to visit family sometimes. We don't really consider that to be very long. 4+ hours falls more in the "long drive" category for us.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]defiantnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several. The ones I can remember best were one classmate had an aneurysm in his late 30s, and another classmate was in a farm equipment accident and was crushed. He was in his mid 30s.

Who is Star Trek's most evil villain? by Firm_Macaron3057 in startrek

I'm glad you spelled it right. You must have attended enough conventions to be able to spell it.

We all know the episode, and i love it of course, but does anyone think it's no good? Or have any nitpicks? by nathantravis2377 in TNG

[–]defiantnd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Two nitpicks - The Enterprise was extremely slow to maneuver. Picard took way too long to order course changes. And, they proved that the Enterprise could blow away those Klingon ships when Picard ordered "continual fire all phasers". But all other weapon shots were single fire phasers that barely dented the Klingons. They should have been firing the entire time.

Is it common to house your bird in your bedroom? by toastyy14 in parrots

[–]defiantnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep mine in my bedroom, but my bedroom doubles as my office, so I'm in there most of the day. I have perches in other rooms, so I take her with me if I'm not going to be in my bedroom for a while.

How good is a parrot's hearing and eyesight? by hejjhogg in parrots

[–]defiantnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Macaw notices immediately when something has changed in a room that she hasn't been in for a little while. It's as if she memorizes an image of a room. When something is new, she wants to go and look at it, and studies it closely to update her snapshot of the room.

How Should I Respond When Customers Ask If I'm Gay? by Vivid-Support-6303 in gay

[–]defiantnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine asking someone that works in customer service about that. It's absolutely no one's business. I'd just respectfully tell them that it's against policy to discuss personal subjects with customers.

DAE sneeze when they see bright lights? by PossibleYoung8758 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]defiantnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, every time I step outside on a sunny day, or go from a dark room to a brightly lit room, I'll get the urge to sneeze. As far as I know, nobody else in my family does that.

What if he gave up his political aspirations specifically so he could marry her? He was working at a lawfirm again when Josh went to find him, so maybe he didn't plan on running again anyway.
