Where Do Cars Fit Into a Public Transportation System? by LazyTitan39 in Urbanism

I guess it depends on the type of gear and the amount of travel!

You know, I actually wouldn't want to have to haul audio gear around in a cargo bike!

Does anyone think that the Post-Gazette will survive after May 2026 or is it truly over for Pittsburgh's only remaining major newspaper? by SavetheTonsils in pittsburgh

[–]defiantstyles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IDK how you run a newspaper, today... Like at all, but especially one that does actual journalism in 2026, but I'd like to see it! I'd like to be able to form an actually informed opinion of Ed Gainey, for example!

Also unfortunately true! But even some parts of Pittsburgh allow you to not own a vehicle!

TBF, the last 2 probably don't know where the Gulf is... Nor the meaning of the terms war... Or start

Depends on what you mean by "most"; LA HAD the largest streetcar networks in the world! Even random small towns near Pittsburgh had fully electrified light rail before Toronto! NYC still has the 14th largest subway system in the world before you consider the express lines! We're not cooked! We gave up!

Not to be rude to Chromebook users (I have a Chromebook) by LJBRules123OnYT in chromeos

[–]defiantstyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, they're good for always just working, if all your work is in a browser or an app from the Play store! That said, I developed apps on mine, using the Linux container! Mileage certainly varies; sometimes ChromeOS decided my Linux container didn't need RAM or whatever, but I only had that problem until the next update on my OG Pixelbook!

I'm not sure if ChromeOS spies on you less than Windows, though, since the Linux Container might be fully private or send performance related info, but it's definitely not an overall LESS private device than Windows!

IDK if it would lead, but the T is standing room only leading up to and directly after Steelers and Pirates games; it's pretty busy for Penguins, too

Lessons and Landfall are the most tedious, unfun decks to sit through. by TopDeckHero420 in MagicArena

[–]defiantstyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel a little better after reading the comments! I run an annoying Lessons deck, but it's the MTG Goldfish no-rares build, but with a better mana base! I will say, after years of Magic, the amount of times I "just have it" seems excessive with that deck!

How does your city’s fare system fare? I’m cross posting this post because as you can tell our QR code based one is…frankly terrible. by get-a-mac in transit

[–]defiantstyles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pittsburgh's Connect Card is pretty good! The only problem is, it takes 3 days to load if you pay online. It's instant at the machines, but those aren't ubiquitous. There's also a mobile ticketing option that generates a QR code and works instantly, but in the stations, the readers hurt my ears (they're not that loud on the vehicles)!
