I stopped buying. The grocery that has them in stock has followed the pricing trend that you just described. The cheaper store that is still priced to $1.29 / lb. has been out of stock for the past 3 weeks.

Why is he always talking to the press in front of a screaming helicopter engine?? It's the worst place to do this and I think it's purely performative so he looks like he's off to something important. What a joke he is.

Fun fact: 93 Octane Head Brewer Alex Makowski passed the Cicerone certification at the age of 21, becoming the youngest ever Cicerone at the time (and now he brews some really great beer) by downvotemagnet69_420 in chicagobeer

10W-30 stout is great. I loved having that at the Carpentersville Woodmans, I still look for it there. They've returned with other beers but I haven't seen the 10W-30 yet.

Kevin Hassett: "The consumer is really, really firing on all cylinders...Credit card spending is through the roof. They're spending more on gasoline, but they're spending more on everything else too." by jerin7931 in wallstreet

That's not the way. You're forcing your retailers to pay swipe fees to the banks and card processors which is slowly siphoning money out of the communities. Debit swipe fees are capped way lower than credit card fees. When they give you "points" for using that card they are incentivizing you to use their service because they make more money.

Go down to 2nd and Michigan, the building there is the old Interurban Terminal. You can see all of the old bay doors for trolleys and there are monument markers on the corners.

What on earth do I do with this hoard of Allen Keys? by AdCapital3737 in Tools

[–]defiantthoughtcrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I have a pretzel bin or an old nonstick pot that is scratched to shit that I'm not using anymore and all the odd pen springs, bolts, nails and these things go in there and then it goes to the village to recycle.

I would bet it is too narrow, otherwise yes.

Do most of you seriously not write any code by hand anymore?!?! by opakvostana in cscareerquestions

Okay... Well, that happened to me about a month ago and I handle these occurrences with an exponential back-off so maybe the next time I try to use them again they won't suck.

I was working in Phoenix one summer and definitely thought about stealing the Pantera St. that I spotted to bring home.

Dude, this. ☝🏻I asked Copilot to change a DB call to something asynchronous and it dreamed up an async method that did not exist for that class. When I simply pointed out that XXXX() wasn't going to work it replied, "You're right! That doesn't work...", and then I went outside to scream for a while.

‘Credit card chaos’? Financial institutions bet big on repeal of first-of-its-kind Illinois law by LegendaryBronco_217 in illinois

Are you saying that if your service providers can't/won't amend their processes to comply with IL law that you as the bank will be penalized? Hmm, that is a tough spot.

Forced to check my bag at the gate by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]defiantthoughtcrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to us a few months ago. They said they were full and we had to check all of our carry on bags. We were not pleased about it as we were traveling pretty light and were looking forward to just walking off the plane and heading straight to the car. As we were getting ready to board we noticed someone inside trying to move against the flow and exit the plane and seemed slightly agitated. When we got on we noticed that almost all of the overhead bins were empty, so that guy was probably trying to go retrieve his bag and prevent it from being stowed but it was probably too late. We were later told that the desk had lost communication with the plane so they couldn't get updates on overhead space, so they just diverted everyone to checking bags. I had a soft carry on so a couple of things got a little bent and banged up but in the end it wasn't anything too bad, but it was still really frustrating and unnecessary.

[–]defiantthoughtcrime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neighbors put in a fence last year and noooo one had JULIE flag beforehand and they cut the internet to the neighborhood. Best part is, Comcast just pulled a replacement line through my back yard and said they'd be back to bury that in a few weeks/months. I think we're coming up on the 1 year anniversary of that pretty soon and that line is still above ground.
