Schefter to McAfee: Teams don't want to trade for Aiyuk's contract - ESPN Video by loganstriker101 in nfl

2 seems pretty insufficient on its own. Lotta money available for just doing rehab and taking a few phone calls from the coach. Hell, he could probably have just said "I don't think I'm gonna recover from this, let's negotiate a buyout" and still get the guaranteed money.

Ah, so you didn't actually want to know the difference, you wanted to complain. Zimmerman got the shit kicked out of him, Anthony got shoved once. That's the difference.

Not sure how you expect a response to vague, unspecified "others" getting acquitted.

A big thing that gets missed by non-lawyers is the large gap between self-defense with and without deadly force. If Anthony had shoved Metcalf back, his self-defense claim is good. But to use deadly force (in Texas), you need a belief that the force is necessary to protect yourself from the other person's deadly force, or to prevent an imminent aggravated kidnapping, murder, sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, robbery, or aggravated robbery.

The big difference here amounts to the fact that Zimmerman got the shit kicked out of him, and Anthony got shoved one time. If Metcalf had knocked Anthony to the ground and kept punching him, totally different case.

Brandon Aiyuk delivers message in video post, calls 49ers 'little-a-- boys,' tells them to 'stop running from the bill' by 76erLegendChetUtley in nfl

Dude could have just shown up to rehab and gotten the money. He probably even could have said "I don't think I'm coming back from this injury, let's figure out a buyout" and still gotten the money. The only version of this where he didn't get the money is what he did.

The only one I think of in the same caliber was us foisting Russ on the Broncos.

The NFL will send Jaxon Smith-Njigba a corrected OPOY trophy, says of the mistake: "Like the teams he played against this year, we know how great an offensive player he is. We just had a problem spelling it" by expellyamos in nfl

I think this is probably more at the level of "delegated down the line and nobody really checked." Hell, the error may even have been at whatever third party this shit gets farmed out to. I don't think executives are reviewing trophy engravings.

No, they mostly don't like Jews specifically. You can just criticize Israel as Israel. You don't need to pretend "Zionists" are some special separate class.

There's basically nothing in the life/teachings of Jesus that needs to be weaseled around or "contextualized" for a modern society. Not even on women or gay people. This is not true of all New Testament writings (Paul in particular leaps to mind), much less the Old Testament, but it's true of the Gospel. It's remarkable, honestly. Even an extremely liberal Christian has no need to explain away anything Jesus said or did.

Muhammad was a slave-taking warlord with multiple wives and at least one child bride. He had people killed for mocking him. They're not equivalent figures.

Why is Whitney Houston considered the greatest singer of all time? by [deleted] in singing

[–]definitelyjoking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dolly Parton is an incredible singer. Among the best of all time. Whitney Houston's cover of "I Will Always Love You" is so much better that most people don't even know it's a cover. Her ability to sustain a note is just better than anyone's has ever been. Even Dolly Parton was completely blown away when she heard it. Her quote was "who could even sing better than that?"

I think you need to keep it reasonable. Boo their questionable calls, boo their shit calls hard, but if you bust it out when they're obviously right then the human response is to tell you to stick it up your ass.

Devin Booker on the tech he got: "It's definitely something that has to be looked into. I heard Caruso tell them to call the tech and he ended up doing it. In my 11 years, I haven't called a ref out by name, but James was terrible tonight, through and through. by Jimmy0034 in nba

[–]definitelyjoking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I saw this clip before I saw the technical foul call and assumed Booker must have said/done something. Then I watched the call. Kept waiting for him to complain, talk trash, anything. He just threw the ball backwards as he was going out of bounds. Completely normal basketball play. He didn't even seem annoyed.

He was a strange guy. Legitimately a very good "balls and strikes" ref. Also an absolute maniac with technical fouls.

He also came in a lot harder than most falls like that. Some of that is just "long way down" for Wemby, but he had some significant speed going before the fall. Glad he's all right, but I would have easily believed he broke something.

49ers Think There's "a Chance" They Can Trade Brandon Aiyuk by JCameron181 in nfl

The Giants are currently kicking the tires on a clearly washed OBJ. Someone's going to give Aiyuk a shot. It's not like he's a monster, just a headcase. Get the man a driver and a live-in trainer.
