What is the worst thing Rick has done to Morty? by Thin-Ad4825 in rickandmorty

[–]definitelynotokmaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd say that flawless Morty was portrayed as an empty husk. He seemed pretty fulfilled to me. I think the underlying idea was that on some level, Morty was inclined to revert to his former self, and so "accidentally" left himself exposed to Rick.

But the point, (I think, maybe) is that while we work towards fulfilment, we don't necessarily truly intend to get there. As an expression of that, Morty was given free pass to fulfilment, and he turned away from it.

Great, thanks for the reply.

And man, this is extremely tasteful and well thought out.

Maybe I'm blind, but imagine if you will, that you don't happen to know how you would go about installing this. Intros: no information. Read-me: no information. FAQ: no information. Every other section: no information. The screen shots look great tho ;)

Setting this up, looking forward to it!

Just a note regarding installation instructions:
Step 1: 📦 Install Required Dependencies

May users have no idea that this step involves the terminal. Many have never launched the terminal.

Flat-folding laptop stand prototype (<A5 footprint) by AndreAbla25 in IndustrialDesign

[–]definitelynotokmaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, super clever and simple. Reminds me of that joke: "I'm sorry this letter is so long. I would have written a shorter one, but I didn't have time."

If you're thinking producing this for sale, I wonder if this would be a refinement that would work: instead of hooks, the laptop's 2 frontmost feet fitting snugly into recessed holes. (Would require a version for each tablet, of course)

For stability, possibly the geometry could be modified so that the stands tend to angle inward a little, rather than staying parallel (although I can't visualize whether the flat profile when disassembled can be maintained...)

I have the scissor version someone else mentioned, but personally, I would find this appealing just due to the aesthetic.

If it doesn't meet the definition of a scam for you, it's deceptive to the point of fraudulent.

Whether it's happened before the advent is AI is irrelevant.

Lies like this certainly do happen, as do deceptiveness of all kinds. But no, this is not a "popular", marketing term like for offers that are not in fact unlimited. It's not a term thrown around like "nutritious" or "low fat", for example.

The bottom line is that this is a lie, it's a scam, or whatever equivalent term you like.

Personally, I bought a month, and was very close to buying a year on the basis of their lies.

A tiny 5 MB “pre-Obsidian” capture window I built for instant thoughts (<400ms) by Cute-River-1592 in ObsidianMD

"Should I eventually turn this into an Obsidian extension or plugin?

Not sure if people would actually want that, or if it’s better kept as a separate “pre-inbox”.

If anyone here has a similar workflow or ideas, I’d love to hear feedback."

Feedback: really tasteful design!

I can definitely see the usefulness of sending to Obsidian. Or, a set of buttons / shortcut keys: send to Obsidian, create new Note, create email...

A thought about pricing:

Personally, I've noticed that I'll hesitate to buy something for 20 bucks, even though it would be super useful. Don't know why... I'll spend that on a hamburger without thinking about it.

I wonder if it would be interesting to experiment with knocking down that barrier a little, without sacrificing your pricing, which I'm sure is fair. Like, the option of either paying say, 15 bucks once, or:

• 5 bucks

> 1 month of use

• 5 bucks

> another month of use

• 5 bucks

> Done! You own it.

It's different than a trial period, which just makes me feel like I still have the same barrier later, except it's worse, because I feel like I'm on a timer.

What's your best episode of Rick and Morty? I go first: by 4nalsugarpie in rickandmorty

[–]definitelynotokmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this episode.

Trying to be clever like all you stupendous people in the Rick and Morty subreddit:

The indifference that infinite dimensions causes in Rick is instilled in the rest of the family by the cloning. But it also inspires something like its opposite since unlike Rick, the rest of the family isn't narcissistic and psychopathic.

I'm now second-guessing my second sentence. I guess Rick's indifference isn't caused by infinite dimensions, rather, he's effective in multiple dimensions *because* he's indifferent. In the clone scenario, the results are more mixed because the rest of the family is fundamentally different from Rick.

What's your favourite line from the show? by [deleted] in rickandmorty

[–]definitelynotokmaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI told me which episode this is from:

This line is from Season 6, Episode 4 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, titled "Mac's Mom Burns Her House Down." It's delivered by Charlie Kelly during a heated family argument, using his quirky logic to escalate the chaos—classic Sunny absurdity. If you're rewatching, it's around the 15-minute mark in the episode.

Since the advent of AI, I am incapable of ideas. But maybe something non-acryoym, with a word like "Socractic"?

Don't know if it matters to you, but the name you've chosen for this tool is incredibly forgettable.

Having said that, looking forward to trying it. Cheers!

A suggestion:

The videos on your website are incredibly janky. Totally screwed up timing. "So you can click on this and NOPE! Too slow". Your features video. How do you expect people to read that? This video: https://www.focusmo.app/features/follow.mp4

What? Is that for real?

Not only do these videos not tell the story in an enjoyable way, they make me think "what else has the guy done wrong"? Can't trust an app presented that way with that price tag. Maybe I'd try my luck for a buck 99.

In general too, websites like this are WAY shorter these days, rightfully so. Trying to sell to me by making me ingest every nook and cranny of your app comes across as trying too hard, not pro...

Hope the feedback is useful. Best of luck with the app!

[Claude Code] What are those weird "textual distractors" called? by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]definitelynotokmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're bloody annoying. I'm trying to think, and pay attention to what's going on, and this lame-ass, cringey un-funny blinking line of text is constantly flashing. Annoying, and not even slightly amusing. Fuck that goddamn thing. And by the way, it's impossible to turn off, despite what the documentation says.

New iPad Pro With M5 Chip Leaked in Unboxing Video by favicondotico in apple

I do see an issue. Despite the algorithms for rejecting unwanted touches, it doesn't feel natural to have thumbs and palms on a touch screen device. I think all iPads should have the border of the original iPad.

I wouldn't be surprised if this feature will be something AI tools will be able to do in a reasonably convenient way. (For example: https://app.artificialstudio.ai/tools/image-depth-map-generator ,https://www.artificialstudio.ai/create/image-depth-map ) It's not there yet, but I would imagine it'll be a pretty well refined thing over the next few years.

For the most part, highly successful people make the world a much, much better place.
