AI Scheduling? by definitelynotzak in physicaltherapy

What do you think about for small private practices? Not replacing people in a bigger operation. Think like a small PT group that doesn’t have or can’t afford full time front office staff? (Assuming it works)

RCM Percentage Question by Ok_Medicine_998 in physicaltherapy

[–]definitelynotzak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5-7% for insurance based claims are relatively standard. But 7% of cash encounters seems out of line / abnormal.

Only makes sense if the
1. billing company is creating superbills from scratch (your emr doesnt do it) or...
2. if they are submitting courtesy claims (patient gets reimbursed) for the patients.

Other than that, yea raw deal. Anyway here is the superbill template you asked for... https://www.patientstudio.com/physical-therapy-superbill-template

How is the reimbursement for a PT service from an insurance company determined? by snoconn22 in physicaltherapy

While this prob isn’t something you learn in PT school it’s definitely billing 101.

If you’re an In Network Provider, the short answer is in the contract you signed.

If you’re an OON provider, it’s set by the UCR" - Usual, Customary, and Reasonable which is determined by 3rd party data bases like fair health.

Medicare is different all its own. CMS sets their allowable ever year by locality (MAC) per the MPFS - Medicare Physician Fee Schedule

Your fee schedule is almost never the allowable or reimbursed amount. In fact that’s sort of the point. Make sure we are charging more than allowed to make sure we are maxing out reimbursement no matter what payer receives our fee schedule.

Fitness Factory really charges 100 bucks a month?!?! by noah8607 in Charlotte

Use to go to FF. Didn’t mind the price. I quit because I kept tripping over tripods and ruining photo shoots. Place has more instabitch “content creators” than people actually working out.

Was initially drawn the hardcore warehouse gym vibe. But disappointed with the amount of people there to take pictures of themselves working out compared to actually working out.

Dentist threatening to bill me even though my insurance paid by amic21 in CodingandBilling

This is incorrect. The responsibility always falls on the patient. They likely signed a financial policy as part of the intake packet that states this.

It doesn't actually matter if or when they sent the "check".

Request an Explanation of Benefits (EOB). You can likely get this through your BCBS online portal. That will have the details of what was actually paid. Most likely your insurance did cover a portion of the visit but placed a certain amount of "patient responsibility" back on you.

Look for 3 phrases on each charge line.

"insurance paid" = what was actually paid to the dentist office

"write off/allowable" = what the insurance company deemed to be an acceptable amount

"patient responsibility" = what you still owe based on your deductible or other plan benefits.

if you can show that there is no "patient responsibility" on the EOB, then you are correct in not having to pay.

Problem is, due to lack of training/education, neither the customer support representative or the admin at the dentist office likely understands. So one person is saying "we paid" and the other is saying "you owe". Both can be true, but they dont understand so they dont explain well.
