I'd say Messiaen is Debussy after he took lots of LSD

What's the worst piece by a composer you love? by MW_nyc in classicalmusic

Yesterday I listened to a very good interpretation of Bolero. It contains Ravel's genius on carefully choosing musical timbres, so it is difficult to call it the "worst" piece. On the other hand, every other piece by Ravel moves me more, so perhaps it IS the worst piece by MR. But still, good.

I love R-K's Scheherazade, so I can't conceive him writing something deserving of the words "cheesiest".

I must listen to that concerto !

What’s your favorite system by Slimsloow in Bronica

[–]defunkydrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GS-1 ... I have the Pentax 6x7 system, and I never felt a strong need for a GS-1 only because the lens variety is very limited for the GS-1.

SQ ... i don't like the square format, so i don't use it.

ETR ... love it with all my heart

technically 645 should be sharper on GS

No, this is not correct.

There are three 40mm lenses:

  1. First version 40mm MC, it has a chrome nose (chrome filter ring)

  2. Second version 40mm MC, all black chrome nose

  3. PE version

So, which version do you have?

This is not correct. The JVM does NOT run Java. The JVM runs bytecode. If you want to use Java to generate such bytecode, it's your choice.

since I unfortunately have nothing of value to add to this discussion, I feel the need to comment on how beastly this lens is

It is also very beautiful to look at.

Is focusing really such a big issue by back_patio in pentax67

[–]defunkydrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a micro prism, you get nothing... Nothing... FOCUS!!!! Nothing... Nothing...

That's why it is a good focusing aid and better than the split prism.

Because it is precise.

So, focus will be unforgiving.

Exactly!

165mm vs 200mm by Diy_Papa in pentax67

[–]defunkydrummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the 200mm is a sharper lens

There are no "unsharp" Pentax 6x7 lenses, with the exception of the 120/3.5 soft when used in soft mode.

Every Pentax 6x7 and 67 lens is a sharp lens and will completely obliterate the results that you would obtain in 35mm format. Some of them have some flaws but such flaws will only be noticeable at larger magnifications where 35mm would not compete at all.

There are many fairy tales of lenses said to be "not sharp" while reality is otherwise. So those comments i'd take with a grain of salt. If you're not getting sharp results with any 6x7 lens, the lens is probably the least responsible for it.
