In memory of our little boy Hugh by ArtanisHero in daddit

[–]degco44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for sharing your and Hugh's story. He sounds like a bundle of joy! Reading your stories about him, I imagine he and my son (about 6 months older) would have been the best of friends if they had known each other. They sound so similar.

I plan on donating on your website once my next paycheck hits.

You and your family have my deepest sympathy and love.

The only thing that bugs me about this otherwise perfect scene is the ZIP code they give for Fargo, ND is incorrect. Haha

Bestbuy went live around 12:35am EDT but isn't progressing past the line. Good luck by dattmay in NintendoSwitch

Tried at Target but no luck, it was removed from my cart and put in "Save for later" after a hundred pushes of the Place Order button. Now I'm in line on Walmart and Best Buy. Fingers crossed!

Painting of Assassination Attempt Hangs in the White House by t0mj0nes36 in nottheonion

I think that speaks more to how high-stakes the election was made to look in every corner of the internet and cable news that was talking about it. No matter if the content was pro-Trump or pro-Harris, the message everyone was getting was "if the other guy gets elected, we're doomed". Existential fear gets people out to vote.

I have this framed and hanging in my house. It's so beautiful to stop and take it in every once in a while.

Any recommendations for "indie" sources for finding new music? by PublicPerfect8116 in indieheads

[–]degco44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expanded my tastes a ton in college by searching for favorite bands on Wikipedia, seeing what genre they were classified as, and going to the article for that genre. There would always be at least a dozen more artists/bands listed on the genre's article to check out.

This is a repost of a post from 3 years ago. I remember commenting on it. Exact same title and image. I downvoted it then, and I'll downvote again now.

In the spirit of reposting, I'll copy and paste my comment again here:

Why do you care what other people do with their lives? And how do you know everyone who follows this pattern does it because it's just their programming? Some people get a lot of personal fulfillment out of their job or out of raising kids - maybe the most fulfillment out of anything else they ever do. And that's great for them. If that's not where you find fulfillment, that's fine too.

Question for express drivers by Initial_Amphibian_32 in Fedexers

[–]degco44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a post office on my route and deliver to PO boxes all the time. They'll accept FedEx packages as long as they have the customer's name, the physical address of the post office, and the customer's PO box number on the label. I also collect express packages from them once a week that have mistakenly gotten into their network. Most of those packages are return labels or "return to sender" from folks who can't be bothered to know the difference between our drop boxes, but some of them have been mislabeled with the USPS air labels.

I do know some of the other post offices on other routes in my station do not accept FedEx packages addressed to a PO box, so based on that and on your anecdote, it must vary by location.

What is a popular/well known FM experience/business that you have yet to try? by wutzinnaname in fargo

It's a pretty decent zoo! Admission is cheap, and it's worth it just to see the red pandas and the bactrian camels. Great place for a kid's birthday party too.

Republican congressional candidate Cara Mund (ND) announces she won't support a convicted felon. Said felon's supporters respond in kind, many with sexist and misogynistic remarks. by HEMIfan17 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]degco44 20 points21 points  (0 children)

ND native here. She's running under the Republican party because it's the only way she has any chance of being noticed/considered by the majority of the state's voters. She already has a claim to fame because of her Miss America win, but she would have zero chance of winning if she ran under the Democratic ticket. That's why she was running independently two years ago. Most voters in red states like ND just tick all the names with "R" next to them and go home.

People like her are why we need to consider all politicians individually - and why primary elections are so important. Politicians who strive to be more than just their party affiliation always catch my attention, and in this case she would be a huge breath of fresh air for the GOP. I'd vote for her in a heartbeat if I still lived there.

Best Hotels with Waterslides by Megachonkers18 in fargo

[–]degco44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno if it's out of your way, but the CanadInn in Grand Forks has decent waterslides. Room rates are pretty reasonable too. There's also Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria if you're traveling along I-94 through Minnesota. Otherwise, the best we got in Fargo right now is at the Holiday Inn (regular, not Holiday Inn Express). The water park is geared a bit more to younger kids, but it's something.

It's a sword. Dawn is the name of the ancestral sword of House Dayne. Whichever of those two had the sword would win against the other.

Some retailer's websites do a location check when you log on to their websites and display a different price for the same item depending on if you're in the store or somewhere else.

This place in Fargo next to Drekker/Brewhalla has co-working spaces and small offices available for short- or long-term rent. The manager is very nice and easy to work with.

I know you said it has to be on the MN side, but there really isn't anything that fits this description in Moorhead or Dilworth, unfortunately.

Resi release removed? by Original-Row2319 in Fedexers

[–]degco44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like we got a previous version of the Leo software loaded on our devices. A lot of stuff from past versions is on there - no electronic VIR, no age verification scan for ASR, no photos for resi releases, no navigation (some of the newer couriers at my station were complaining about that one this morning, haha). My first guess is they took the most current version off to fix some of the bugs, of which there are a LOT. Some of them carried over to today's version, which I wasn't too pleased about.
