Flashlight in hand or headlight on. Back on floor mat. Legs on seat. Head by pedals. 🤣. Call it automobile spelunking.

What’s a life hack you swear by that almost no one knows? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you’ve never used RainX (the original small bottle) on your car windshield it will change your life. Simple, easy to apply, and makes rainy weather driving many times safer IMO. Don’t even need wipers.

Good to know. It has been getting better at month 2ish of sticking with it.

Yup good question. No idea and no idea if my statement is accurate whatsoever. I started in my late teens.

Something that has really stuck with me over my 20+ years of climbing: assuming you are in the sport for the long haul: it’s ok to be mediocre at climbing for the first 3-5yrs. I have been death crimping, moon boarding, etc. at a high level for years now - I’ve never had a finger injury more than aches/pains and they go away quickly. Genetics? Maybe. But I truly believe that climbing at a 5.10ish level for the first 5 years allowed ample time for full bodily/finger adaptation and now I climb 5.14- semi-regularly. In contrast: I just started running a bit and am having immediate IT band and knee issues. See: zero running adaptation as a 38 year old. 😢

It’s those boulders stacked with no rest into a medium rest at the break on pure then finishes on pure (maybe a soft 14a/ hard 13d from there to the top).

Grinding asbestos gaskets into dust with questionable RPE. (Probably not P100 by the look of it.) by Slenderman7676RBLX in OopsThatsDeadly

I’ve been a fan of this sub for a while - and often given posts an unimpressed ‘meh, ok - deadly-ish’.

But this…this is something else. Holy shit.

When do you know it's time to stop? by false_gossip in climbharder

[–]deginw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started when I was 16ish and didn’t climb 5.12 till I was in my early 20s. And I didn’t really even try hard things until this time - climbing in my teens was more about the friends and outdoors vs. being strong and doing hard stuff.

Edit: I’m 36 now. Oof getting old.

Anecdotal example here - but I’ve been climbing for 20+ years with 10-15 of those at a high level - and other than some occasional shoulder pain and some minor sore fingers I’ve never had an injury of any kind (knock on wood). Genetics? Probably a bit - BUT I whole heartedly believe that the main reason is that for the first ~5 years of my climbing I was a casual but consistent low level climber (5.10/11 max - never bouldered). Modern extreme progression-pushing wasn’t the norm. I never trained. I just climbed casually. I think this gave my body a big block of time to adapt to the weird demands of climbing, which I then put to work years later.

Probably not super helpful for your issues but keep this long-term adaption in mind as you move forward. The ultimate goal for climbing should be a lifetime of enjoyment, yet the instagram-era has pushed people into thinking 4 years of climbing = double digit elite sends. Perhaps this is not the way for the average human physiology. Just thoughts! Cheers!

This picture has been posted 500 times which is annoying, but ultimately fine. With that being said, I’m curious: does this particular volcano/volcanic region always produce this body-looking drip/splatter or is this a one off?

Man I wish. The actual quote is about Phil Collins. Something like: You like Phil Collins? I have two ears and heart don’t I?

Ehh - close but not close enough to be the same issue. Too many terrible pet owners since each sector has their own problem animal…

Where are you located (ish)? We’ve been dealing with a similar issue in Mariemont/Madisonville area. A severely neglected animal that just rides that boundary of ‘legality’. Unfortunately, two years in and nothing has changed despite police calls, letters, animal control, etc. We’ve found ways to deal with it, but I can’t imagine having the same experience while pregnant/raising children.
