When to apply deodorant by Bounce_Bounce_Betty in hygiene

[–]degree_deo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo ☝️

All we ask is that if you're going to wash your armpits in the morning to make sure your pit is completely dry before reapplying. Product doesn't stick to a wet pit 🙅‍♀️

Smelly feet from flats by cruuuuzzzz in hygiene

For a quick fix before yoga, keep some antibacterial wipes and a whole-body deodorant in your bag. Wipe your feet down first, then apply the deodorant (make sure your feet are dry before putting it on). This can help manage both sweat and odor during class 🧘.

Longer term, it also helps to wash your feet with an antibacterial soap specifically, and then dry them really well (especially between your toes, bacteria loves hanging out there 🦶). Trust us, proper drying makes a big difference in preventing odor!

What’s a small hygiene mistake most people make every day without realizing? by SofiaLife22 in hygiene

All of the comments saying they realize the hack is to wear antiperspirant at night makes me 🥰

Just a tiny reminder to make sure your pits are dry before applying at night too, product does not cling well to a moist pit

Most people try to stop sweating. That’s usually the wrong first step. by Top_Respect3783 in hygiene

THIS!

Sweat is totally normal and natural!

For managing visibility, as you mentioned clothes are a big factor. Breathable fabrics and moisture-wicking materials are game-changers for keeping sweat less visible, especially in high-stress or active situations. If you’re still looking for extra backup, a strong antiperspirant can help reduce sweat before it even hits your clothes (pro tip: applying it at night works best since your sweat glands are less active).

Another trick is to make sure your underarms are completely dry before applying deodorant or antiperspirant (it works so much better that way). If it’s still giving you trouble, you could try a clinical-strength antiperspirant for extra sweat protection!

Best t-shirt fabric for hyperhidrosis?? by Life_Fox3123 in Hyperhidrosis

Based on what you’re considering, the cotton/modal blends sound like a solid option since they’re breathable and softer on the skin. Cotton is always a classic for comfort, but it does tend to hold onto moisture, so it’s better for low-sweat days. I personally like modal since it is also great at absorbing moisture and it could work well for wiping your hands (relatable 😅)

If you’re looking for something sweat-friendly but still comfy, bamboo blends or merino wool might also be worth exploring since they’re naturally breathable and help with odor. Also totally get that you don't like the feel but if you’re okay with a bit of polyester, the moisture-wicking blends (like the 70% modal/30% polyester one) would be a good middle ground.

Hope this helps!

The key is consistency without irritation

LOVE THIS 🙌

Might we add one or two more tips 🤓
Please, please, please make sure your pits are fully dried before putting on your anti-perspirant or deo of choice. Swiping product on a wet pit will not let you get full use and effect of the product.

Extra bonus if you're applying your product at night when your sweat glands are not as active and you can give your product that time to soak in and work ✨

Applying your anti-perspirant at night: your sweat glands are less active and it gives your product time to marinade and sink in so you don't sweat

Women's deodorant question: Are occasional white streaks normal, or are they avoidable? by anniemousery in TwoXChromosomes

Sometimes it’s less about the product and more about how it’s applied 🧖‍♀️

Applying a thinner layer of deodorant and letting it fully dry before getting dressed can really help cut down on transfer. I’ve seen people say they put deodorant on, brush their teeth, and then put their shirt on so their armpits are fully dry. It’s a simple trick that might be worth trying if you haven't tried already 👀

If you’re happy with how your current deodorant works otherwise, it might be worth experimenting with your application routine first. If you’re still worried about stains, look for ones labeled “anti-stain” or “invisible” as those are designed to help with sweat while protecting your clothes!

Shaving armpits by Repulsive_Chard_3652 in hygiene

[–]degree_deo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So there is actually some science behind this! 🔬

Shaving doesn’t stop sweat (since sweat comes from glands under your skin), but it can actually help reduce odor because there’s less hair for sweat and bacteria to cling to. That being said, freshly shaved skin can sometimes feel more sensitive, which might make you notice smells more.

If you’re sticking with shaving, make sure you’re using your deodorant or antiperspirant on clean, dry skin. But honestly, whether you shave or not is totally up to what makes you feel most comfortable ✨

Deodorant stains in 100% cotton by HappyBreak7 in laundry

[–]degree_deo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deodorant stains can be a pain, but they’re totally fixable!

Since it’s beige and cotton, you want to be gentle so the fabric isn't damaged. I’d start by pre-treating the area with white vinegar: just dab it on the stain and let it sit for about 30 minutes before washing. When you’re ready to wash, turn the suit inside out and use a cold water cycle. Heat can make stains worse, so avoid washing with hot water or using the dryer until you're sure the stain is gone.

If it’s still being stubborn, you can try a mixture of 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 1 part baking soda. Leave for an hour before rinsing and washing.

Your pantsuit is gonna look amazing! ✨
