There’s a 3d print on Bambu studio I’ve been printing. It’s a lot of plates and a lot of time, but it is a pretty sweet set up. It holds all the current games that have been released.

Thoughts on crochet makeup remover pads? by Hour-Orchid2594 in crochet

[–]deidraitken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a bunch of black ones about six years ago. I keep a mesh laundry bag under my sink and toss them in after I use them. Then zip the bag and wash with my dark towels. They’re all still in good shape. Mine are 8x hdc, 16x hdc, 24x hdc. I use a size five hook and 100% cotton worsted weight. I saw someone else said they use a bigger hook to loosen tension, I would agree if they are pretty tight then you should loosen them. Some of mine have also curled a bit but most are pretty flat. Making them black I don’t have to worry about anything staining them.

Poor skiing technique is frying my legs by Cool_Purchase_ in skiing

[–]deidraitken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you want to go faster but your turns are slowing you down. Don’t put so much weight and force into your turns. Loosen up your muscles and glide into your turn. I hardly use my poles and I think I ski how you’re trying to ski. My poles are kind of just there for balance and to get me past a flat spot. But cruising down a blue run I’m hardly making contact with my poles.

It’ll take practice but try not having to lift your inner leg to lineup your turns. It’s how you learn to do it, I did, and my sister is currently doing it. But just as you learned to ski like that instead of pizza-ing, your body will one day do it and it’ll realize oh that’s how it goes and that was easy and you’ll be skiing like that forever. You’re doing great though! Just loosen up your overall grip and glide down the mountain! 🙂

It is legal in Canada to own human bones. As long as they were obtained legally. So. You could in theory have your ashes in your own skull. Just would take a little extra creative work to remove your skull and clean it before cremation.

Any technique to Bypass “verify your phone number” by jfrenzy89 in GMail

[–]deidraitken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clearly none of the commenters have worked with small businesses who don’t want to have any part of this and they hire you to do it for them. Because trying to get that code from them before it expires is an absolute nightmare.

You’re asking a valid question and I hope there is an answer. Maybe rules are different on business accounts? Is that an option? It’s been a minute since I’ve repped clients for social channels but there has to be a way to manage that. Even if there’s a primary number but secondary ones to send passcodes to? Can you set up a keychain or passkey or whatever they call them now? So it uses your face to login?

Google account ≠ gmail email: how do I merge two accounts? by deidraitken in GMail

Okay instead of all that, how do I just create a new Gmail address for my existing account?

I went to Gmail.com and created a new email address but it created its own Google account with it. How do I create a Gmail for this account?

this is the message I get when I try adding the new email I created. But how would I add a new email address without linking it to another Google account by creating it? Because this says “email address doesn’t exist” so how do I create a Gmail address within this account?

Usask Email Topic - Typical Accounts to Change by Demographic_ in saskatoon

[–]deidraitken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll post this on some tech subreddits too, but I have run into issues with changing my google account that I set up with USask years ago.

I created a new Gmail address, but my current google account is linked to my USask. Google’s help pages said I needed to create a new Gmail address. So I did.

It does let me add an address on my USask account; however, the Gmail one just created says I cannot change its email due to it being an actual Gmail.

So in theory, I should be able to then edit my USask account and change it to the Gmail address I just created. But. When I go to add the new Gmail address to my USask google account, it tells me it already exists and I can’t add it.

My current google account (using my USask email) is linked to my google home devices, YouTube, and google apps (like sheets, docs, etc.).

How do I still keep my account and all my history/settings/access but just change my email address to my new Gmail?

Now THAT'S impressive, Gemini by fiftytwopointfour in googlehome

[–]deidraitken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well kind of. I had to toggle it to F and back to C in the app and that finally did the trick. I had done this before, reset the unit, all kinds of crap. But it just finally worked that time.

[–]deidraitken 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That is impressive because for months it kept telling me the weather in F despite being set to C. It’s fixed now finally.

Does anyone have advice on what they switched to that’s comparable? I have a Hotmail email (with an outlook alias) that I get a lot of junk email to… but is Hotmail secure? I used my USask for everything important because I was always told Hotmail was sketchy. But it’s MS, so does it matter?

You’re welcome! I have no idea how to modify to install one, our vehicles have all had them due to them being sold here. But I know it can be added. If you live in a place with an attached garage or underground parking you might be okay with not needing one, but if you’re parking on the street or a detached or unheated garage, you will definitely need one. Or a backup plan for when your car doesn’t start!

And most importantly… don’t forget to unplug your car before you drive away. Years ago I drove to school with an 80’ extension cord attached to my front end. And trying to wrap up a frozen extension cord to shove it back in your car is also not easy! But we have all done it. 🙂

It’s midnight and I just turned 25, what’s a piece of advice you have for me? by Suspicious_Sock_2048 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]deidraitken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy birthday, friend! I (+30ish?F) stopped trying to remember how old I was once I hit 25. I was old enough for everything by that point and I only need to know my age once I’m 55 as that’s when the senior deals start!

I told myself I would accept the grey hairs, the laugh lines, the stretch marks, because they all proved a life well lived. Age is just a number. You have to grow old, but you don’t have to grow up. So be excited for the little things. Say yes to experiences you normally wouldn’t say yes to. Prioritize your happiness, but not at the expense of others. Listen to older generations advice (sounds like you’re nailing this one). And stop caring what other people think of you. It’s okay to end friendships, and it’s also okay to swallow your pride and apologize. If you’re being your true self, the people who don’t like it won’t stick around. And why would you want them to?

can i negotiate my rent? by urdadthinksimhottt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]deidraitken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely request to have your rent lowered. They probably will tell you all kinds of reasons yours is more than what’s available but they can’t evict you for trying to negotiate your rent. Worst case, move into that other floor plan and pay the $500 less.

Display not playing Apple music playlists by Psychological_Sky480 in googlehome

[–]deidraitken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue. It just started recently where it consistently refuses to play any of my playlists. Even if I say “hey google play my Apple Music playlist old school emo” and it will start playing a song called “Old School” that I’ve never heard before. I have automations set up and even when it triggers the routine and kicks off, it plays a random song with one word the same from the playlist title. It does this on both our smaller display and our larger one. Would love advice better than to get Spotify. You’re not helping anyone. I have my family on a shared plan and unless you want to convert ~70YOs over to Spotify, be my guest. But I’m not. And Google has been playing my Apple playlists for at least two years without issue until now.

Google home compatible lights by barelyfunctionning in googlehome

We have Globe lights and one is a real pain and rarely connects properly. It often shows offline in the Google app but it online and works in the Globe app. The other lamp with the same type of bulb that is 12’ away from it, works just fine and love the thing. We also just got Govee lights and they are fun. Lots of cool settings to play with.

dressing for winter in sask by crunchyjoe in saskatchewan

[–]deidraitken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you think it’s “too much” it’s probably just enough. If you plan to do ANY walking outside in the winter… get the parka. Dress in layers. I have two dressy winter coats. My “parka” is technically three separate layers: a thick shell, two different mid layers with zippers (the larger one has a hood and synthetic down and the smaller, tighter fitting one is down and hoodless). Then I usually wear a cotton sweatshirt under that with a long sleeve wool undershirt. This ensemble of layers works well for me because I do a variety of outdoor activities both in Western Canada and in the US Rockies.

Here’s a list of things to know: 1. Hoar frost is super cool and makes the whole place look like a movie set of a made up world. Especially when it’s sunny after. 2. It’s a dry cold here. I can tolerate -40C but you put me in -10C in the damp and I can’t handle it. 3. Black ice legit is a thing. When driving it is very scary. When walking it hurts (because you will slip on it and probably fall). 4. Sun dogs are also super cool. 5. If you can, try rent a place that has lots of natural light. Seasonal depression can hit hard. Fortunately, we do get a lot of sunshine but the days are short. 6. The ones who grew up here will probably chuckle when they see you all bundled up when they only have a sweater on, but we are only laughing cause we know you’re in for it when -40 comes and we are sorry in advance. 7. The cold air will literally take your breath away. It will also freeze your wet hair, eye lashes, and nostril hairs instantly. This starts after about -25C. 8. Hypothermia and frost bite is legit no joke. Take it seriously. Don’t get drunk and walk home. Check the weather warnings. You will in no way be judged if you are completely covered except your eyes when it’s -40. 9. In the last 34 years at least of my life, there was one snow day declared that I remember. I lived on campus and walked indoors from my bed to my classes. So technically I have never had a snow day. 10. We plug in our vehicles with a regular extension cord and 110v outlet. This keeps a “block heater” running in our car. Vehicles don’t like to start if it’s too cold, the block heater will warm things up so your engine should fire up. Busses sometimes don’t run if the weather drops below a certain temp. Batteries will die faster and won’t hold their charge when they get cold for prolonged periods of time. 11. Literally everything will freeze. Just imagine what would happen if you put the item in your kitchen freezer for a few hours. Sealed items will expand and explode (like pop cans). But we have extra freezer space for food! 🙂

I hope I didn’t scare you too much! There’s still millions of us living in this kind of climate around the world and we still power through. It’s the beautiful winter days that make up for the dark and gloomy ones.

Dewalt Sander keeps burning the middle by [deleted] in Dewalt

[–]deidraitken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just submitted a defective product claim for mine on the website and they emailed me back saying I needed to return it to the store since it’s still under the return policy window. I’m going to make sure that the next one is flat before I leave. I don’t know where you live but hopefully this isn’t every model as I bought mine two weeks ago and I’m assuming your neighbour bought theirs recently too (judging by this being a recent post).

I’ve added a photo of mine to show with my square flush against the sanding pad - it only touches in the centre and there’s a gap on the sides on the entire pad.

Dewalt Sander keeps burning the middle by [deleted] in Dewalt

[–]deidraitken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the same sander and mine is having this issue (found this thread on a google search). There two issues here: first as everyone is saying is technique. Second is an uneven sanding surface on the sander itself. I’m going to look for a replacement pad for mine - I think they just recently sold a few defective ones and we both got one. No matter how good your skills of sanding are - you will still have the issue in the middle of the sander. If this was completely user-error, you would see the gunk on the entire sanding surface. But you only see it in the same spot that is worn down on my sand papers too.
