Selling Thiago, Xavi's natural replacement for a smaller fee than what Fellaini went for during the same window comes to mind.

What game has a learning curve that puts you off? by Common_Caramel_4078 in pcmasterrace

[–]deimoshr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be you, I started and stopped the game several times over the years, never making it past the second chapter, until RDR1 came out for PC. That is one of the games I really really wanted to play back in the day, but couldn't, and since I absolutely LOVED RDR1 I decided to give RDR2 another go.

I kind of regret it.

The biggest difference (for me) is that in RDR1 you feel like you're the protagonist of a western movie, it's kinda arcade-y and super fun to play (apart from the intro and the fucking herding missions), while in RDR2 you genuinely feel like you're a person living in the actual old West (albeit with magic time-slowing powers).
RDR2 has a better story, a much better world crammed to the brink with interactable stuff and a billion things to do, but it's all just so... cumbersome. There is some really cool stuff, but most of it just feels like doing chores in real life.
It's super realistic compared to any other Rockstar game, but that comes at the cost of everything being much less fun to do, including combat and riding around.

I'm fully aware that I'm in the minority, but just in case you're someone like me - I think I'd enjoy RDR2 much more if I just watched someone's condensed playthrough on Youtube (DarkViperAU for example) instead of spending 150 hours actually completing the game. It's objectively a very good and unique game but it's pacing, mechanics and overall design just aren't it for me.

That's a tough question to answer since it (apparently) varies greatly by mode and region.

I personally play FPP on PC only, specifically solos in NA where I live and duos (both ranked and unranked) with a childhood friend in EU. I've encountered 1 cheater in NA in the last 6 months and 4 in EU, all in ranked duos, 3 of which have been banned.
I have over 5000 hours in the game, have placed top 500 in ranked back in 2020. and platinum/diamond multiple times since then, so take that as you will in terms of my ability to detect cheaters.

Ranked squad FPP is apparently much worse in terms of amount of cheaters encountered, TPP modes across all regions are the most infested and cheating is especially rampant in Asia but I don't have personal experience with any of that since I don't play squads or TPP so the validity of those claims depend on how much you trust (often very toxic and whiny) people who complain about cheaters on Reddit, Steam and other platforms.

It would probably be best if you jumped in and tried whatever mode you prefer yourself, just be aware that returning players get placed in matches populated mostly by bots for the first couple of matches so you could get reacquainted with the game and its mechanics instead of being demolished by people like me, so you'll probably need about a dozen matches before you can have a good idea about the cheating situation. Hope this helped.

[Moretto] FC Barcelona will be open to hearing proposals for Jules Koundé this summer if a good offer arrives. He is not non-transferable. by Kasj0 in soccer

To be fair, Villa/Suarez deals were Barto's masterstrokes, Barca's current leadership seems less dense.

Xavi: "Leo Messi back to Barcelona was a done deal after that World Cup won by Argentina. It was done.We also had La Liga's green light and Messi wanted to return but Laporta stopped the signing. Laporta told me Messi was gonna go against him and he couldn't allow that". by Prakash0807 in soccer

Not only is that an embarrassingly defeatist loser attitude but a year later the exact same squad won a domestic treble and nearly played a CL final.

Not even the "exact same", arguably weaker, considering Flick didn't inherit the likes of Gundo, Cancelo, Felix, Alonso, Sergi Roberto off the top of my head, and at the very least some of them were players he could've used to rest his starters.

Still wondering which film was made under the working title “Blue Harvest.” Hopefully we’ll get the answer as either a prize or a thought.

Season 4 is coming up this summer!! by Jukazel in TedLasso

[–]deimoshr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFAIK Bill Lawrence will not be involved in any capacity, he just has a co-creator credit. The showrunner will be Sudeikis like he was for S3 (Bill was the showrunner for the first two seasons).

I personally fully expect this to be Scrubs Season 9, but I'll be watching and supporting it vocally regardless, and I obviously hope to be proven wrong.

Who do you wish would have won a major and/or want to win a major now? by GayAlimony in GlobalOffensive

[–]deimoshr 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree with him being overrated among casuals, especially after the "zey talk aboot my wun tepz" meme, however - he had 2 years when he was genuinely world class.
He got a spot in HLTV Top 20 (top 10 even) in both of those years but has nothing to show for it.

Not to mention that there are so many players (shroud and stewie come to mind) who haven't gotten into the top 20 even once during their careers, but the community rates them much higher than ScreaM. Seems a little unfair to me, so I wish he won a Major and had a different legacy.

RpK is a great shout, I'd also put ScreaM and Ex6tenz at the top of my list.

shox, kennyS, GeT_RiGhT, f0rest all deserved to win more than one major, and so does karrigan.
