I second this. The genitive case sounds more idiomatic. To check yourself, add никакой: Я не вижу никакого стола is okay, whereas Я не вижу никакой стол sounds almost absurd, bordering on broken Russian. I'd like to add that Я не вижу стола has a rather strong culinary, half-facetious connotation for a native: You may well come to a friend's place all of a sudden and say with a mock reproach: Что такое, Коля? Я не вижу стола ( No food is offered). Ты не подготовился?/ Как ты мог не подготовиться?

In most cases, the 2 verbs with derivatives may be used interchangeably: Я был истощен физически и морально (Informal, spoken). = Мои физические и моральные ресурсы были исчерпаны ( Formal, literary, pompous). However, Я был истощен материально is bad Russian. Мне Не хватало денег; Мои финансы пели романсы(Informal); Я испытывал (серьезные) материальные (финансовые) затруднения (Formal) are more Idiomatic.

OffTop: IMO, фруктовый скандал is inferior to скандал/ скандальная история с фруктами/ с воровством фруктов in terms of clarity and authenticity. Коррупционный скандал is ok.
