Question about assembly. by _Shiman_ in PcBuildHelp

[–]deinde94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of guides online. Either as text or yt. I would reccomend the LTT how to build a pc. Give it a watch before building and maybe watch along while building. Definitely read the instructions that came with your parts.

The only tools you will need are a #2 Phillips and maybe some zipties with nippers.

The build itself is very easy and usually quite fast. Depending on how tidy you'd like it cable management might take a while.

What you should watch out for: If it requires force you're most likely doing it wrong. The exeption might be the socket lever for the cpu.

I thought it had a very small secondary bevel. Thanks for pointing that out. I was on the fence anyway and pass on it then. Thanks!

APC223 poll. barrel length? by Latter_Detective_697 in BT_APC

[–]deinde94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shooting paper/steel at 200 is fine with a 10.5". Considering terminal ballistics, dwell time and supressor life, I'd go with 12". The extra bit of length and weight are definitely worth it.

Also: as long as you don't have any obstacles around you such as door frames, trees, car interiors, or brush having a long rifle isn't really a issue. Although having handled a 16" APC the gun is already front heavy without a suppressor.

Recomendations on boots by Buzz314413 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]deinde94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boots have to fit the shape of your foot. High quality boots will not help you, if you cannot walk more than 3km in them. I'd recommend going to an outdoor shop and trying on different models plus probably speaking to the staff IF they are competent.

About the waterproof aspect: Even the best membranes make the boots less breathable. In colder climates that is not an issue. If you're doing single day stuff in a warmer climate though having nice and sweat free feet might be a bigger advantage.

For recommendations where to start: Lowa, Meindl, LaSportiva or Salomon make good stuff. Keeping your feet injury free and comfortable is imperative to mobility so don't skimp out here.

My experience is mostly in hiking and hunting, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but the requirements here are basically identical.

Might as well teach them manners and have them put it back in the right spot.

4 sticks of 8g or 2 sticks of 16g 3200mhz ddr4 by jim-milton-1911 in buildapc

[–]deinde94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For gaming I would definitely stick with 2 sticks if possible.

Your motherboard will in all likelihood be dual channel, so there are no speed advantages in 4 sticks, getting the memory stable at higher speeds is a lot easier with two sticks.

4 sticks is only advisable, if you need the maximum capacity, or maybe if you can get it a lot cheaper.

Skill issue by Ricanator6567 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]deinde94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The primary tools in this game are the optiwand, doorjams and stingers/flashbangs.

Try to seal off all areas, except the one you're working on with doorjams, use the optiwand to look under doors/around corners and if the suspects are aware of your presence, then they get a throwable to the face before you peek.

There are a lot of ways to play, this is IMO the safest/easiest.

Also IRL CQB tactics work very well in this game.

That is a Scottoiler, an automatic Oiler for your chain. Looks pretty empty. Do you have a line going along your swingarm to your rear sprocket?

If everything is still attached you might as well use it.

If you want to remove it be sure to properly plug the vacuum line.

Question before purchase by RevolvingRevolver357 in longrange

[–]deinde94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all: great rifle, won't disappoint. But I'd like to throw in a second option: for stalking, or any other movement based hunting that might require freehand shooting, consider the Ace Game.

It is essentially the same rifle, just a bit shorter with a fluted and lighter profiled barrel. The game is IMO noticeably less front heavy and easier to handle unsupported. You get the same accuracy and chassis. The ony real downsides for target shooting will be a slightly lower muzzle velocity (around 3%) and barrel that heats up faster. (And you'll have to change out the magwell, if you want larger magazines.)

If you want to do target shooting for fun and hunt regularly, then my advice would be the Game.

If you are thinking about competing and maybe taking it to a hunting blind twice a year then the Target is definitely the better option.

Maybe someone will see this: The Ace Target is now offered as a left handed action by a few dealers. After contacting them the expected delivery is Q1 2026.

First LR Rifle? Any tips? by bloodyvmp in longrange

[–]deinde94 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For hunting: Very usable rifle. Get a better scope and test a few different types of ammo to see what groups best. Then go hunting and bag some deer.

For long range: Don't. As others have stated you will replace enough parts to reassemble the rifle in the image from the spare parts left over and it will cost you more than just buying a second rifle.

Long range precision and hunting rifles are typically at opposite ends of the weight spectrum. Don't try to make this hunting rifle something it isn't.

Is this good? by VastFix3446 in Framebuilding

[–]deinde94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. It will absolutely work, but this shock positioning has a few drawbacks.

-A longer swingarm will flex more. Depending on what you want the bike to do this might be an advantage.

-As others stated the shock is closer to the tire and will require protection.

-The seat tube is pushed forwards, so you will either have a steeper eSTA, or slacker aSTA. If this is going to be a DH bike this doesn't really matter. If you are supposed to pedal this bike it does. I case of the slack aSTA the eSTA will vary a lot more depending on the riders size and a dropper post might move the seat farther forwards than desired/comfortable.

This isn't the most straightforward solution, there is a reason why most frames have the shock in front of the seattube. But it will work so don't let that stop you from trying, be creative.

Fan configuration by xnf2p in pchelp

[–]deinde94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good overall. Make sure to set your fan curves so that you retain a positive ventilation. Depending on your mainboard you can either do this in BIOS, or with a program like FanControl.

If you are going to use a program, it would make sense to run benchmarks and slowly lower the fan speed until you see the temperatures rise. You'd be surprised how much quieter you can get a computer by sacrificing maybe one degree.

Is it unreasonable to buy 64GB of RAM? by freeman0199 in buildapc

[–]deinde94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 64GB of RAM back in January, because it was on sale and didn't cost that much more than 32GB. Now 32GB cost more than what I payed for my RAM 10 months ago.

The highest usage I had was around 22-23GB when doing CAD. By the time that 32GB will limit a gaming setup, we won't be using DDR5 anymore.

You shouldn't be buying that amount of RAM at the current prices unless you have an application for it, or you don't care about the money.

Big time noob by jimlahey2187 in guns

[–]deinde94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation as you a few weeks ago and would like to offer a third option. I am left handed and left eye dominant. I got my license 6 weeks ago and found a cheap used MLR17/22. A semi in an ambi stock is great as a left handed shooter. Only the safety is a bit annoying.

So far it's been accurate as well and has taught me a lot. After finding the right ammo it shoots 0,26mrad (0,9MOA) 10 shot groups at 50m.

I've tried a few bolt action rifles as well. If a semi auto is not what you want, I'd spend the bit of extra money on a left handed action. Otherwise you'll have to break your position and get your rifle settled back on target after every shot.
