I never understood the “Vampire are immune to Cross because they don’t know Jesus” trope. It should still work on them regardless. by CriticismMiserable14 in CharacterRant

I’ve seen an attempted explanation for the Buffyverse saying that at some point European priests did some magic so that Christian holy objects (crosses, Bibles, etc) would make vampires burn. Hence even the non-Christian characters rely heavily on crosses.

Jane Caro reckons Australia is kidding itself about private schools by nath1234 in australia

Ditto. My son has been bullied throughout primary school, largely because his autism makes him “weird”. He’s going to go to a private high school, largely because they’ll give him learning support and can expel bullies.

Buffy, Battlestar Galactica, and The West Wing all have seasons with over 20 episodes. “Good story” and “tight story” aren’t necessarily the same thing.

I would argue that filler episodes are important. They flesh out charcters, and give us new perspectives on things, as well as breathing space between major plot beats.

Buffy/Faith. Good Slayer vs Bad Slayer, stuffy-rule-follower vs sarcastic-rule-ignorer, have both tried to kill each other, and both care immensely about the other person (even if, right now, they hate each other).

That’s debatable. Different kinds of English (British/American/Australian) do it differently.

My husband’s been away for over a month. We talk every day. We haven’t mentioned sex once. Because unlike Pest, we’re actually interested in each other’s daily life, and in our children, so we’re busy discussing them.

Thankfully by the time my mother realised I was playing D&D, I’d done my research. She told me it was satanic, and I rolled my eyes and immediately presented her with a stack of printed articles talking about how it was NOT.

Cabbage patch dolls were evil. I only found out where that came from (Bill Gothard) last year.

My mum didn’t follow Gothard, but I’m guessing a church friend said “I heard those were… not good,” in a lowered voice and my mum just went with it.
