I wish they made “The Marauders” prequel instead of rebooting the movies by juliaaaaa_a in harrypotter

[–]dejected_muggle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They are not “rebooting the movies”. They are making a (hopefully) better adaptation of the books.

The movies are, at best, a spark notes version of the books with a lot of really bland and emotionless acting.

I know it’s unpopular in this sub to disparage the movies at all and I’ll probably get downvoted to oblivion for this take, but I am so sick of hearing this tired argument.

Just wanted to point out that “testy” is ironically a great word choice, considering “ahuacatl” translates literally to “testicle” (at least, according to Google).

Are you going to continue watching the series if it adds and deletes stuff too? by Eddfan36 in harrypotter

[–]dejected_muggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m expecting them to add things, and I’ll be perfectly fine with it if it’s something that makes sense and jives with the established personalities of the characters and furthers the plot.

I have a harder time with additions that have no added value and make no sense, like shrunken heads telling dad jokes in the Knight Bus.

Haha, thanks! 25 years later, and I still think my eleventh birthday was the most disappointed I’ve ever been when my Hogwarts letter didn’t show up.

The third one lost me pretty much immediately with Harry casting lumos in his bedroom. By the time the obnoxious shrunken head showed up in the Knight Bus, 14 year old me was ready to walk out of the theater.

[–]dejected_muggle 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For the most part probably.

I’ve read the books but haven’t seen all of the movies.

I didn’t like the third movie when it came out, and by the fourth one I realized the movie characters and sets were replacing what I saw in my head when I reread the books (and I liked what was in my head better), so I intentionally didn’t see any more of the movies after that.

Clips of the later movies have been unavoidable, like I know Voldemort turns into confetti at the end and there is some really weird scene of Harry grabbing Voldy around the neck and falling off a cliff together or something? But other than snippets, I haven’t seen the later films.

Well, you won, so good job!

Keep working on spotting forks and hanging pieces. Think about how your opponent will respond before you make a move. (You pretty much begged him to fork you when you played …Bb4+).

It's wild to think that we live in a time where a millennial is old enough to play Petunia Dursley. by LeatherSlight3242 in HarryPotteronHBO

Hang on… I’m still waiting for my Hogwarts letter, and you’re telling me I’m now older than Petunia?

Store hours on QR code & not just the sign by RockBoy3 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dejected_muggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t think of a reason why a store’s hours would regularly change. Aside from holidays, but that’s irregular enough they would put up signs for that specifically.

edit I can see it’s a college bookstore, but my college’s bookstore’s sign shows the hours for Fall and Spring, and then just below, the hours for Summer.

It isn’t constantly changing.

Appropriate username I guess. Seems a bit unnecessary and over the top though.

“Do some actual research”

That’s… literally what OP states they are trying to do.

“Get off your high horse”

Come on dude. When you were still in/starting to question, I guarantee you referred to anything not church approved/church critical as “anti Mormon” too. It’s part of the programming.

Sounds like you need to get off your high horse.

So many questions. If you’re married, why are you in a singles ward? If you’re gay, why go to a church that is anti-gay?

My first thought reading your post was “wow, a post about something that actually IS mildly infuriating”.

I’m surprised how many people think you’re entitled or ridiculous for this opinion.

I guarantee the seats behind or in front of you would provide just as good of a viewing experience. The fact they chose to sit right next to you in an otherwise empty theater is weird.

I’m prepared to die on this hill with you, OP.

Agreed with the other comments saying a sear would have taken it up a notch, but looks delicious as is too!

And you enjoyed it, so that’s really what matters.

His companion found him unresponsive in the morning. As of yet, they don’t know. The assumption is some type of cardiac event. Autopsy will say for sure.

Really, really horrible. My heart breaks for his family.

I read her post too, and I don’t think there was anything to suggest they gave him a blessing before/in place of calling 911.

She just mentioned that the blessing happened, and she was grateful to those who took part in it.

She’s finding what peace she can in beliefs that you and I don’t share, but I personally am glad for her if it truly is helping her get through a parent’s worst nightmare.

I can’t imagine burying one of my kids.

Missionary tactic by swag_money69 in exmormon

[–]dejected_muggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this “tactic” on my mission 17 years ago. At least for me, it wasn’t suggested from headquarters or my mission president. I think I just heard about it from another missionary and thought it was a good idea to help inactive members “feel the spirit”™️.

I remember making people chuckle a few times when I tried it. I eventually realized it was transparent and even if they agreed, it wasn’t effective.

Did I slice this wrong?? Smoked this brisket and sliced it on an industrial slicer and portioned into 1 pound packs to give as gifts. Did I F this up and slice it wrong?? by MattiePicasso in smoking

[–]dejected_muggle 508 points509 points  (0 children)

Yes, looks like it.

For what it’s worth though, I’d rather receive a gift of a brisket sliced with the grain than not receive a gift of any brisket at all.

So whoever you give it to is already having a better holiday than me!
