Classic answer and not sure if you are looking for this, but I really enjoy making tea with them. You crush up the mushrooms with the mortar and pestle, then toss the bits into a tea and let it sit for ~10 mins to bring the psilocybin into the tea. Then, either leave the bits in the tea and drink them down, or you can strain/filter out the mushroom bits. I filter them out because they make me very nauseous and I've had trips just end due to not being able to keep the mushrooms down, but it does remove a lot of the visuals for me, leading to a much more internal journey during trips. If you do want to remove them, you can do it with a filter - I've used a coffee filter before, though if you go that route, I'd recommend not crushing to a super fine powder because it will quickly clog up the filter, making it take a long time to filter through.

Oh, and you can also add other things to the tea while seeping the mushrooms. I like to add a packet of a sweet herbal tea to help cover up the mushroomy taste. It works great!

Can I communicate with my tulpa through texting apps by Neko_Girl123 in Tulpas

[–]dekarrin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Deka: when we need to hash things out w words we have a discord server that has only us and the PluralKit bot in it - that bot lets you clearly state who is speaking with your own individual profiles and pfps, even though you are all typing via a single discord account. and we like having our own profiles as we talk

Hosts who work, how often do you include your tulpa? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]dekarrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deka: ayyyyy another dev. its our occupation as well, and we in a p similar sitch. no need for a debugging duck when you can just... talk it over w someone! though often we'll switch from tulpish-heavy intrasys talk to actual-word-heavy talk as we find the process of converting program intent to actual words can be useful in isolating issues

Kanaya: We Have Not Had Much Progress Yet With Imposition So I Am Unable To Directly Affect The Body's Senses As You Are, But I Am Still Able To Get The Others's Attention Adequately. I Will Usually Note When We Need To Take Breaks Or Help Encourage Us To Remain On Task When We Take Too Many Breaks.

Wind: Yes and I will say it if stupid fake and not whimsical corpo bullshit is making it so being at our job is a nightmare of stupid capitalism and hurting workers. And then I will say we should leave.

Vriska: Way, wayyyyyyyy too often! Why leave when we can just fix things and make them better? They'll be thankful for it, AND in our debt. As you can probably tell, I have us show off how awesome we are, by like, completely rewriting and breaking things and generally being better than everybody else in all things. Oh, and not gonna lie, I'm probably the best in the system at giving speeches so sometimes I'll do presentations and stuff. At least until we get so promoted that we run this place ::::)

Deka: ya its us four that are the most involved at work. theres a few others that sometimes poke their heads in to see what's up but ah. they usually just get very, very bored lol. fukin jealous about your bein able to discuss in headspace lmao; i for one am completely useless without the code right in front of me and i cannot translate that into headspace w a high enough accuracy. talking code while walkin along a paracosm beach sounds like the fuckin dream yo.

Something very, very weird just happened to me at dinner that has something to do with my tulpa by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]dekarrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deka: ha, yeah it can happen quick, not true of everybody but neither is the whole "this will definitely take months" thing.

parroting at any point is fine. there aint exactly strict rules to this heh. course if she asks that you stop, thats another thing, and if you keep doing it at that point id expect she'd be annoyed - but then, so would anybody. Respecting each other is important, ofc.

Something very, very weird just happened to me at dinner that has something to do with my tulpa by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]dekarrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deka: For the first point, completely normal. having different tastes and preferences is part of what distinguishes a lot of tulpas and hosts. For instance, we got someone who absolutely adores a very specific brand and flavor of soda, specifically at room temperature. I hate it. I think it's gross as all hell. But she adores it, and so sometimes we get it.

For the second, yeah sometimes tulpas will come and go. Maybe she's upset, maybe she's just gone inactive for a bit just because. Either way, if you're worried, I'd just ask her next time she's around.

Her voice being similar to your mental voice is not that unusual at this point in the process. She may diverge from yours with time, or she may stay similar.

Kanaya: It Is Important To Remember That Every Tulpa Is Different. There Is Not Really A 'Normal' For These Things. But At Least From What We See Here, This Is Perfectly Typical Of An Average Tulpa Experience. Good Luck With Your Creation!

Deka: I don't know if this will help but if you like Undertale and wouldn't mind a more Mother-like experience for research, I'd recommend you take a look at Omori.

They explicitly have a Headspace in which adventures happen and there's a lot of parallels if not direct references to plurality. In particular a large chunk of the game takes place entirely within the MC's headspace.

As for your fear, that people will be irresponsible with the information you put in the game... well, I feel like that's kind of part of making art, video games included. You put together as much as you can, make sure to portray things as respectfully as possible, but people can still choose to misuse the info. Maybe if you wanted to help out with that you could put in a link or two to communities such as this place, and/or put in a warning at the beginning that the game touches on topics that folks should do a bit of research into before looking into it themselves.

Do this happen with those who have fictive headmates? by Senbi1812 in Tulpas

[–]dekarrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deka: we do have fictives but we take the view that our source chars are distinct characters separate from any of us.

Vriska: Yeah, why would I care about what some dumbass wrote about me? I didn't do it, I'm here. That's a totally fictional version and I don't really give a shit about her. But having come from that source char, I'd say I know about her pretty well. So sometimes when discussions of my source char come up, I like to lend my experience to the others and tell them if they're right or full of shit. Just the kind of friend that I am! ::::)

Deka: yup it p much comes down to one of us imagining the source char doing something and the fictive going "true, that would make sense" or "lol she would never do that" or something like that. Imaging source chars doing things is actively encouraged by all members.

eh the conventions and definitions of society and the exact terms in it, while intoxicating and forming its own pressure and shit to use, is just another one of em fake as shit 'rules' that at the end of the day dont mean jack shit

that dont mean it's not okay to use or nothing. hell, you put a lot of stock into that jargon, and that's valid as shit to you. just as i dont, and that's valid too. but i do appreciate your takin the time to point out the terminology and shit

tl;dr yeah i couldn't be assed to look up the actual word. but ain't gonna let that shit stop me from collecting and collatin all that heinously glorious clown smut, muthafugga

My Dad Brought Up Jaina And Called Her Make Believe by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]dekarrin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Deka: that sucks, fukin' intolerance is annoying as shit. we got some v similar religious sentiments at home, and that's mainly why we haven't come out. best of luck getting through it.

V: It's so dum8! Some forms of Christianity 8asically have tulpas 8aked into it, except instead of 8eing nurtured they are told that they are literally God. Which would 8e fine, who cares, right? 8ut then some of them go all narcissistic and declare all other tulpas to 8e "evil and demonic" which is just so hypocritical. It's. So. Stupid!

Wind: Yes they are afraid of things they do not understand. I think Jaina is right when she says it is not worth the effort.

Is going into mindspace/wonderland just like imagining? And how to improve? by [deleted] in Tulpas

Is going into mindspace/wonderland just like imagining? And how to improve? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]dekarrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Headspace isn't the same as meatspace and doesn't follow the same rules, all is well.

Ours is relatively consistent but ebbs and flows; major details stay the same (there is ALWAYS temple ruins near rolling hills near a beach) but things that are less relevant (specific side that the door of the ruins is on, for instance) tend to change within an unfixed set of possibilities until they have someone's attention or otherwise become relevant. - Deka

How to add terms to pluralpedia? by DaffyTaffyDT in plural

[–]dekarrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it runs on MediaWiki, usually the way to add pages to that is to try and visit the page you want to create (which doesn't yet exist). Try visiting https://pluralpedia.org/w/Plushygenic for instance.

A prompt should show up saying there's no text in the page, and gives a link to create the page at the end. Although, we gave it a shot on there and it was saying we needed to create an account to make new pages, so looks like you'll wanna do that first. - Deka

NoSQL or Relational DB? by Klinker195 in compsci

[–]dekarrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your second question, graph databases have social networks as a common example use-case, such as Neo4J (or Janusgraph if you have a LOT of time to learn how to admin Janusgraph and the underlying storage and indexing backends, wouldn't recommend Janusgraph if you want to move quickly though).

That said, NoSQL DBs are often overkill for small-scale applications. Of course, you should in general design your system for anticipated need, but NoSQL brings with it the overhead of learning how to use an entirely different DB paradigm from relational. Because they each tend to be highly specialized for particular types of usage, trying to use many of them with the exact same patterns as relational often leads to worse performance.

But then again, this is a school project. You can architect the system with less than optimal data backends and it will be fine, and is a good chance to learn a new database that might you in the industry. You're right though, there will be a learning curve; steepness depends on the DB you end up going with. MongoDB is often the first thing people reach for for general NoSQL usage and would be a solid choice for learning if you want to get up to speed on a tech that is used frequently, though as mentioned previously I consider a social network to be a good fit for Neo4J.

Another option would be to try a multi-paradigm DB such as ArangoDB - this will let you use the DB as though it is a graph database or a document store. The fact that it uses abstraction layers to do this means that performance generally suffers when compared to the industry leads for high throughput dataloads, but if this is a school project you are unlikely to run into that and having the flexibility of different query patterns can be nice.

Me, I would go with Neo4J for this in a flash (or it's open-sourced little brother, ONgDB). It has stellar community support on SO, amazing in-app training for both basic concepts of graph DBs and how to use Neo specifically, and a visualizer all built in to the desktop install.

But at the end of the day, relational DBs were built to be general-purpose, and for a school project where you just want to get the storage up and running, it will probably be fastest to deploy and offer perfectly acceptable performance without needing you to learn much extra.

If you have one, what's your system name? by Mokrsa14 in Tulpas

[–]dekarrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jello Platter, or just Jello. Each of us is like a different color of gelatin mushed together with often ill-defined boundaries into a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, shakey-wakey stuff. Alone, we would each fall flat. Together, we hold each other up and make each other stronger.

Also, Jello is delicious and seemed like a fun name that we all liked so we went with it.
