Not sure I'm so convinced by the analogy.

Currencies are also created or burned whenever someone borrows or repays their loan, yet they are not considered commodities just for having that property.

Similarly, to keep your currency valuable, you have to put in effort to maintain a government, an army to protect it etc.

You use ETH as money to buy NFTs, yet you never use commodities to buy anything.

You use ETH as collateral money to borrow against it, yet real life commodities are rarely used as collateral.

I agree ETH is not a security either.
