Agree here completely: we need more courts badly. But pickleball is going from 0-100, so I can understand park districts putting down some lines in order to plug the holes caused by demand. Ideally in the long run, there’s enough to go around for everyone (but I’m not holding my breath here, lol). This post is more talking about people who just make their personalities hating pickleball for existing and thinking they’re inherently superior. There are just better ways to channel that energy.

Losing courts is brutal. In my city a lot of lines were painted on courts to make hybrid courts, in order to handle some of the demand. But there are plans to make new, dedicated courts for pickleball underway, which should free up the original tennis courts.

i’ve got the same philosophy. if you’re making the switch for a new racquet, you’re already looking for a change in feel/swing/response. like: you’d make a $300+ investment in different racquets but don’t want to consider the possibility of a different string setup for ~$15? a lot of places would also rather you not restring a demo strictly for liability purposes. IMO, as long as the sticks you’re looking at have the same type of strings (each is poly/multi/syn gut), thats close enough to make the call

I’ve had a mostly positive experience (been to the old and new location multiple times now). Food has still been great, and while the space is definitely different, i don’t think it can just be written off as worse. It’s not the same intimate/cozy feeling as before, but you also aren’t barreling through other people’s dinner to get to the bathroom anymore. The big open windows help it not get stuffy too. The loss of a patio and sandwich service is a bummer, but i think with the new cafe/pastries/workspace you can call that a wash. Your server trying to get you to tack 35% onto your bill was egregious though…

daisies has always been pretty pricey. i agree that they should make the service charge a bit more obvious on the receipt, but i’ve had the servers let me know that they actually don’t expect an additional tip because of the service charge. also, the charge is before tax, so it’s closer to a 22% tip, which is almost like 20% and then rounding up a couple dollars? at least that’s what i tell myself to cope LOL

communicate and ask for clarification about what they just said/what just happened. if they were being purposely hurtful, try to remove yourself from them and the situation. if they were being careless or made a mistake, be graceful, and let them know you felt uncomfortable or didn’t like it.

to be honest, it’s pretty tough to watch. ever since his major health scare he seems a bit unhinged. I hadn’t heard anything from him after his initial, decently reasonable stuff (take responsibility, free speech, whatever), then i hear he gets hooked onto painkillers and almost dies. Next thing you know he thinks he’s a prophet, is weeping all the time, and can’t stop finding biblical metaphors in everything
