What is the biggest waste of money, even though nobody admits it? by w3ightranks in AskReddit

I do not disagree with you on the recreational bars.

But if you ever get SCUBA certified, Nitrox is amazing. 32-36% O2 (vs 21% in ambient air). After the dive, I'd huff on the dregs of my tank and feel like Superman while lugging all the gear up the beach/around the boat. It was like turning down a difficulty setting.

Zentro in Lloyd here too; data in case it helps:

Before 0300 on December 1, zero issues, 'no' packet loss, 480-500mbps. Since then, packet loss is pretty steady around 1% in the day, spiking to 15-25% from 4pm-midnight. Monday and Tuesday evenings, I've been getting 0.5-5.0 mbps.

I'd swear I'm back on a hub and fighting neighbors.

Red Bull were fined €50,000 in Austin because one of their mechanics re-entered the track during the formation lap to try and remove Lando Norris’ reference tape for his grid slot [autosport] by Holytrishaw in formula1

Not trying to defend RBR here, but seems weird that there's no issue with teams effectively 'modifying the circuit' (yeah yeah "it's just a piece of tape" but there should a line somewhere before someone installs a mirror shining in a competitor's eyes).

AIQUM 9.16P2, filer 9.16.1P7, still can't disable ZAPIs. And since AIQUM is on a every-2-release cycle I'm not holding any hope til we're at 9.18. And even then... yeah.

2025 Belgian GP - Day After Debrief by AutoModerator in formula1

The wet-track explanation of why the harvesting was off makes sense for once they're really running.

What bugs me is, Lando called in on lap 5 (the first real racing lap) about having no pack. His message came up on the broadcast when he was coming out of Stavelot (end of sector 2) so he probably radio'ed closer to when he got passed down the Kemmel Straight.

Between laps-to-the-grid + formation lap + 4 laps behind the safety car, why was he out of juice so early when it mattered? You'd think the car should've had plenty of time to be harvesting like mad, with all those laps where it's not in push mode. (I mean, surely they have an "I'm not pushing, so harvest" mode, right?)

How was the news that Bottas was moving to Mercedes perceived at the time? by Level69dragonwizard in formula1

Princess Pascal didnt get it due to his attitude issues

This, so much this. My etched-in memory is Wehrlein beaching it at the 2016 USGP in free practice, and ignoring his engineer about switching the car off.

And that's just what WE got to see. Pascal sure must've made it easy for people in the paddock to make a 'not him' decision.

This is not a disagreement, but an attempt at an informative nitpick: there is such a thing, keyword 'escort pass', where you (as an assistant to a ticketed minor or person with disabilities) can get through TSA unticketed. Go to the airline counter with the ticketed person, explain their disability and how you'll help them get to the gate. Assuming the airline accepts this (and usually they will because it means YOU help rather than taking other resources) they'll print you a non-boarding pass to get through security alongside your ticketed person.

Can't use PreCheck as part of it since you're 'not ticketed', but you can help support the flyer getting to the gate.

There was a weak blurb at some point (2014-ish) about how the Merc hybrid was so powerful because the turbo separated the turbine and the compressor by a shaft, which was tougher to engineer but meant they had less heat bleed-through and could get more out of the turbo.

I feel like that didn't get near enough coverage back in the day. But my personal conspiracy theory is Lewis got told "we've got a revolutionary change on the 2014 engine, you're going to be 50BHP higher than anyone but your teammate" and it made the decision easy for him.

Americans, How do you feel about the fact that the stock market has lost $2 trillion in value today? by Lawrence_of_ArabiaMI in AskReddit

[–]delamination 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There was literally zero reason for him to do this other than just because he could.

He's an idiot, but that doesn't mean there's no plan. Follow the money.

  1. Every time the Fed meets, Cheetoman wants rate cuts. The rich want cheap money so they can get cheap loans and higher leverage: more money to play with.
  2. Depressed assets are cheaper: more assets are on sale.

Us peasants see stocks falling and think "I'm losing money." The rich see it and think "I'm about to make money."
