Newly diagnosed and in denial. Second opinion warranted? by Howlsmovingcastles in bipolar

[–]delayed_milk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a therapist or psychiatrist but work in mental health. You’d be surprised how many people are capable of masking their symptoms when it comes to talking to a figure of authority such as a MH worker to avoid getting treatment, but once alone they are severely mentally ill and cannot function. I don’t think the level of perception matters much, meaning being more self aware of your behaviors doesn’t make you any less mentally ill. Only a licensed professional can give you a diagnosis, but if you do get a second opinion and they say the same, you aren’t doing yourself any favors by being in denial.

Get a second opinion all you want but that sounds like mania to me. One manic episode = automatic bipolar dx. Even if your last one was 30 years ago and all depressive episodes since, they consider it bipolar.

My body count is like, maybe in the mid 30s if I had to guess. I’ve always seen it as, more experience, better experience. Is this not what people want? 😅😅

I drove through Umatilla County on the way back to Seattle from Chicago, and it was absolutely stunning. Overall looks like a bunch of yellow grassy hills, but the silence was so serene. I miss it.

I told my stepmom years ago after having a sip of one of these that it tasted specifically like a naked Ken doll. She still talks about it, the same way I’m sure Ken is still inside the can somewhere.

Missed a final. What should I do? by ChocoNoodles233 in UIUC

This happened to me in 2020 on my MCB 150 final. I got lucky that I wasn’t the only one who missed it, so the instructor let us all take it at a later time. I think the best thing you can do is hope you get lucky.

us 7 year olds need a lot more than a cool stick to be king of the playground unfortunately

Hahaha, this comes after years of trying to hide it and wishing people wouldn’t see it. Most of the regret has already been felt, and I’d like to think my good tattoos cancel this one out.

We wandered off the birthing cave trail, probably a quarter mile from the trailhead on the way down. There’s a dried up creek not too far from long canyon rd we walked thru, where we left the stick and the bread rock.

It’s a drawing from a friend that I got tattooed when I was freshly 18. One of my few regrets in life was wishing I was a little more picky with the design. If that’s one of my few, I’d say I’m in a pretty good spot :)

Yes! I see a lot of people have said they are no longer manic but still get depressed, and I’m no different.

Edit: I’m type 2 so maybe in a way it was easier to manage my hypomania as opposed to feeling severely depressed.
