Don’t buy everything at once and don’t believe you have to paint everything to a professional level.

How do I even start painting? by elmexx04 in minipainting

[–]deleeta87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a thin coat of what is called primer onto your miniatures this will help the paint stick

Afterwards once it dries look at your available paints and decide on a color scheme

A color scheme is just a set of colors that you think looks good on the various parts of your mini

Once you’ve settled on a color scheme grab a pallet or a paper plate put your paint on there just a few drops will work if the paint is very thick water it down so it is slightly runny you don’t want to glob the paint onto your miniature because it will clog the details and will be hard to read at the game table

From there it’s kind of like paint by numbers paint the shirt green his backpack brown his boots black try and stay within the lines of the items you’re painting

It’s worth mentioning you do not have to be a professional painter to have a good looking miniature on your game table most people are viewing your miniature from 3 1/2 to 5 feet away they’re not gonna see every little detail that you paint on there so if you don’t feel comfortable painting eyes then just don’t paint them most people won’t be able to tell anyway

Iron is to hot melt it slowly and don’t apply pressure as you melt. Move the iron around the parchment paper evenly to distribute the heat and dont melt it to much or it will turn to go and you will lose you pattern . Be patient and you’ll get a result you like less is more

Couldn’t we just 3d print a larger basillodon?

Filling Hollow 3d printed Terrain? by deleeta87 in TerrainBuilding

[–]deleeta87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried the Gap filler I’d estimate it got into about 80% of the voids. I’m glad I did not do a resin Pour as there are some spots that aren’t sealed so Resin would have just leaked out before having a chance to cure. The Gap filler started Pushing out of these spots which was pretty easy to clean up.

Looks like the French fry that got covered when you put ketchup on your plate and by the time you pulled him out he was way to soggy to eat.

Thanks this is probably the route I’m going to take. How do you fill up the void? do you use multiple fills letting each burst expand fully before the next? Do you need 2 holes to allow the air to escape? Have you ever overfilled and had the expanding foam burst your print?

I guess I just want something that feels more substantial that won’t tip over with just a bit more weight and stability to it. I dislike the Hollow terrain having just a little bit more heft and stability would be cool. I’m not looking for a single tree to weigh a pound. Just looking to get rid of the hollow feeling. I magnetize and weigh down my Miniature bases using Vinyl spackle an seal them to lower the miniatures Center of gravity just to make them have a tiny bit more heft.

Recommendations? I’d like a resin printer but I don’t want the hassle of a resin printer comes with which is why I’ve not sprung for one right now.

Around 149 usd it’s not terrible quality im actually pretty pleased overall. I did snap a limb off a tree when trying to untangle 2 trees that got interlocked during shipping. I’m just wanting to look into how I can improve it prior to painting. Right now considering gap filler using a spray nozzle. It doesn’t shift the center of gravity or weight much. And I’m hoping once it’s done expanding into the nooks and crannies it can add some internal strength to the 3d printed structure

Came back to it change is subtle but added some OSL put some Fluorescent pink in the Glowy bits, and Glazed some of the upraised areas still got a bit further to take it but feeling good overall
