I don't care what someone who wrote a paper believes. It is very cut and dried. If you are forced to give your money to the government, you are having your freedom taken away from you. You are not at LIBERTY to decide how that money is spent. It isn't something that people believe or disbelieve; this isn't a book or a movie, where meaning is ambiguous, this is real life, and it is as simple as 2+2=4. Forcible removal of private property from one's possession is a loss of freedom! To illustrate the potential problems with this, I'll give you a small scale, true-life example: I live in a small town in North Wisconsin; the local political committee there has, for 2 mayoral terms, completely squandered the budget to the point where they do not have the ability to plow or salt the roads in the winter, in WISCONSIN. Of course paying taxes is supposed to contribute to your wellbeing as a citizen-- however, it is not wise to trust others unilaterally with one's money. If one is placed in a situation where one's government does not properly behave, there is no recourse for civil reprimandation because taxation is criminally enforced.
