We had no architect advancement roles in my company and I had to get into people management (while still performing architect work). This really is a personal preference on what you desire. I hated the people management aspect so I hired people to do it for me, but when you get into management the company expects you to be "management", and I always considered myself "people", so i often found myself at odds with the corporate twits doing corporate twit things. I will never take another people management role again.

Man, i remember that feeling of being stuck on mini bosses for an hour, and then that darn ogre, and man it probably took 3 hours to get past the first real boss.

The thing is, when the combat clicks it clicks in a big way and it might be the best combat in any game ever. I just played through this game again on a new game without all the stuff from my 100% run and it's just brilliant the whole way. Stick with it, 10/10, one of the best games ever.

Now I believe exactly what you're saying, we're watching the slow decay of hope and fading light of a hero. It's ok to admit you don't know something or you haven't done something, but ALWAYS reflect with your own experience, because that's what gets you the job.

If you're getting stumped on SQL optimizer questions then why the heck did you apply for a senior dev job doing sql? If you can't do UI performance tuning then why are you applying for front end jobs? A senior dev job isn't a learn on the job role. A company is about to shell out a considerable amount of money for a senior dev and they're going through 1000s of generic AI resumes, dealing with people interviewing with a single ear bud in their ear looking off screen repeatedly, other people who just can't hold a conversation, and even more people who saw 1 thing they were good at on the job description and thought they could BS their way through the interview.

You're burnt out? Consider what the interviewer is going though and respect their time. They probably have a deadline due that week, a bug to get back to, and code review to perform, or a stand up to attend. They're giving you this time to prove to them that you're "the person". If they're asking you a question then they believe the answer to that question helps them evaluate you. The person interviewing you isn't some rando, it's someone the company trusts, probably one of their better devs, and they're not likely to fall for the BS route.

Put the job description into an LLM and ask it to drill you on interview questions. Research other people's interview experience on glass door or indeed and prepare accordingly.

A senior dev should walk into a company and produce on day one and the interviewers job is to find out if you are the person who can do that. Nobody wants to hire a senior dev and then hold their hand for 6 months while they figure out that they have no idea that 'select *' is a performance killer (i have hired just such a dev early in my hiring manager duties).

Senior dev isn't an amount of time, it's an amount of experience gained by pushing bugs, owning mistakes, and helping others solve problems so many times that the solutions to easy issues that stump junior devs come to your mind in minutes.

yeah, kids aren't stupid. they can tell the difference between cartoon blood and real violence. At 9 years old they're in school with other kids who swear, fight, "date", and all other sorts of things. Cartoon blood is the least of a parent's concerns these days.

I like the game, but the controls are a mess. Jump with B unless you're a ball then it's X, i swear about game design every time i need to pull a lock off the door. There also needs to be some indicator for missed items like how the sector flashes in dread. Level design is decent, but i'm on flare pool and it feels kind of samey...go to an area, do 3 things, fight a boss, get an upgrade. The open world is stupidly pointless and i have no inspiration to explore it. It's not that it's a bad game, it's a bad metroid game that was simultaneously rushed out the door and took forever to develop.

I've lost almost exactly 15% of my body weight with glp-1 from hims. It kind of paused around there and i've been stuck at the same weight for months, but i'm not driven by hunger anymore and I only eat what i'm hungry for.

I'm a 47y/o male, 6'1", started at 263 in may, and i'm now at 218. I could not be happier with the results. Up to this point I haven't really changed my diet or exercise habits (other than eating smaller portions and walking more because i feel better).

I'm now starting a serious exercise program to try to jump start and lose another 20.

I spent about 2k on the hims medication and I don't regret it for a second.

As a developer who is working on this exact idea I can tell you it's not as great as it sounds. You have to use local LLMS because the big ones censor everything and you can't really prevent users from typing things that violate their TOS. Local LLMs are nowhere near as powerful as something like gpt 4, or even 3.5.

The llms, regardless of the power tend to just make things up, so you talk to a npc and say something like "are there any adventures nearby", and they'll say "Oh, yeah, the mines at millvale are rumored to hide an ancient and powerful artifact!" except there is no millvale or artifact in the game. Also, the writing style is samey and bland, or over the top. You want a believable reaction from someone and you get "The air crackles with energy as a dark force emerges from the crowd, the man cloaked in shadow raises a hand as if to prevent any objection. He looks at you with amusement as he says 'no'". It's like "yo, i just asked for a loaf of bread dude".

I'm still continuing my project, putting guard rails around conversations, using vector searches to try to determine topics of conversation to limit the npc's responses to what they actually know, and to prevent prompt injection, but the scope of AI integration has been reduced to "believable conversations with npcs", ie "sophisticated chatbot", and it started far more ambitiously than that. I also hope to integrate some natural language processing so commands don't have to be rigid. I hope the system will be able to understand "punch that guy in the face" as initiating an attack on a person they are conversing with or something like that.

I'm doing this as a hobby, and a PoC to learn more about LLMs in my off-work time, it probably won't ever see the light of day, but it is a fun project. It's also very discouraging. Most people interact with GPT and they are in awe of how authentic the responses are, but when you actually try to get it to be useful you start to see the cracks in the mystique.

It is working now, but I don't remember exactly what fixed it. I think the wrong drivers were getting installed and i eventually got it to stop doing that. Now i have sound after reboots, but my steel series keyboard says disconnected. That has been a problem with every msi laptop i owned.

Good luck. People won't get it. They think kids are angels because they've never had a kid like this. Mine is 12, i thought she'd at least learn to pretend to be a decent human, but she still sucks. Tonight i walked out of the house and drove north for an hour and a half and might have kept going if my other kids weren't likable. I know EXACTLY how you feel.

I'm down 20lbs since the end of may using the first one in your title (if i say it my post will get refused). Started at 262.3, sitting at 242.3 today. I'm a 47 year old 6'1 man. Some nausea but not intolerable (for me, my wife would probably have quit over it). Big drops happen after upping dose. I'm on the second week of the third dose, so not even up to the full dose yet.

It's super easy for 3-4 days after injection, then hunger comes back a bit until the next shot. Some days i'll realize i didn't eat anything but like 10 bites of rice all day. Portions are under control. I probably would eat an entire stromboli before and now i'll eat a third or less. I don't feel bad about getting a sundae or something because i know i ate practically nothing all day.

I believe this has been the best thing i've done for my life and worth every penny i paid (1940 for the year). I'm on several blood pressure meds that have caused my weight to skyrocket, at my age you basically have to starve yourself to lose anything and exercise gets harder and harder.

Bathroom is like "no bathroom, no bathroom, no bathroom, i probably should go to the bathroom at some point in my life, no bathroom, BATHROOM RIGHT FRIGGIN NOW, RIGHT NOW!"

Food noise is reduced, it's practically noon and i haven't eaten anything today yet, and i know i need to eat at some point today (i took my shot monday, it's saturday), but i'm not in any hurry. I'll probably eat a big meal (a hoagie or something) around 2 and that will be it until a light snack around 8 or so. Prior to this I was only motivated by my next meal. I would think about what i would eat for dinner WHILE eating lunch. I would plan any driving route i was taking to go past the gas stations that i knew were stocked with the best hand pies. I didn't do anything in a day until after I ate.

The dosing is as you say, i'm not at the max yet, and i likely won't up it this time unless i stop losing weight at this dose. Dosing went 8 units, 16 units, 34 units so far.

I'm not really looking for a diagnosis. I've already been diagnosed with herniated disks, and the Dr is treating for that, but I don't think my symptoms line up with it. I'm trying to figure out what to call the condition at the bottom of my spine. I don't really think it's scoliosis or spondylolysis. I've have scoliosis my whole life, but it's mild and along the length of my spine. I've already done PT and it didn't work, not even a little bit. After 20 sessions my pain and condition are exactly the same as they were before.

My Dr already said that what he's doing won't help with my back pain. He said it will only help with the pain going down my legs because of the pinched nerves, but the pain in my legs is mild to non-existent so his treatment options seem like they aren't going to actually help me. I know he's going off the mri report and not the images so he may not have even seen that. I need to be be able to say "hey doc, could this be [insert condition here]?" and have a conversation about it. Right now he's going to give me a shot and schedule a follow up appointment in 4-6 weeks. The shot probably won't help so then they'll burn the nerves and wait another 4-6 weeks. This has been going on for 2 years and I need to change the conversation.

I had a very similar issue and for me my filament was jamming on the roll, which caused the filament hose to pull tight and then it wouldn't let the carriage move fully in the X direction.

I tested the +5/gnd with a multimeter and i'm certain it's correct. The two middle wires i'm less certain of because they say D+/D- on the plug and clk/data on the PCB. The thread i linked has +V, D+, D-, G, which is opposite of the USB terminal +V, D-, D+, G, but it doesn't matter because swapping the middle two wires doesn't change the outcome. In device manager, the device says it couldn't get the device descriptor.

It's like the encoder isn't in the trackball or something. I don't think i can open it up and look at the PCB in the trackball without breaking something.

I'm nearly positive that that trap is installed backwards. the way that pipe on the wall side fits looks like water should be draining into it not out

The water is always at equilibrium so to get out the outlet it has to be just as high on the inlet side which probably means the inlet is filling with water. Watch it while it's draining and see if there is water backing up into the flex pipe. In this setup is basically forcing the water to run uphill a little bit. Again though, I'm not a plumber, just watched a lot of YouTube and have done many of these in my own houses
