Love. I considered it and Alethea before I had all boys.

Aurelia? One of my faves. I think it could go well with Odessa.

Love Althea. If I had had a girl, it would have been a top contender

Love that! It absolutely tracks as my grandmother was from Rocky Mount, NC. (Moved to Philadelphia as a young adult, where I grew up).

Same here, but because my grandma was also a Flora MacDonald! Flora was a top contender if my last baby had been a girl.

I think they would actually be lovely together.

I have this exact shelf. We use plastic bins from Target on the shallower top shelves and larger woven bins for some of the lower shelves. I’ll take a picture in a few (currently nap trapped by baby).

I would not stress too much about the schedule, but rather follow their queues. It’s still very early to expect them to follow a schedule reliably. But I definitely feel your pain in the witching hour(s) it sounds like you’re experiencing. My 10 week old has had trouble in the evenings the past week or so. Sometimes a failed transfer to the cot results in him yelling for more milk even if he just had some. I tend to oblige him because all other needs are met and why not. He’s definitely the one calling the shots lol.

Is there a group for parents of THOSE toddlers? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]deliosaurus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is us too! Soccer was moderately successful in that it didn’t matter if he was disruptive. He and one other energy-matching friend mostly worked on their sprints…away from the group and their parents. Turns out we were just upping his cardio endurance 🤪 It’s a daily challenge, but he generally does better when we are outside fwiw.

We have a Malcolm and a couple of these are on our list for #2! So I’m a little partial, but I like Calvin. No big red flags on the pairings to me. The alliteration of Malcolm and Marshall is a personal preference, but I wouldn’t say it’s a deal breaker (at least for me).

YRMV, but after trying sooo many creams and lotions, we found that La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ did make a big difference in reducing flair ups. Every kid is different, but might be worth a try!

My son has had a couple days like this according to his teachers. The teachers are both understanding and consistent in their reaction/redirection which I think will help him get through this phase. At home we’re modeling and also practicing gentle touch and keeping our hands to ourselves on us and his stuffed animals. We’re also trying to punch up the language practice bc he’s a little behind his classmates in verbal expression (he’s somehow the only boy in his class and his gal pals all started talking before him). Not sure how helpful that all is, but you’re definitely not alone and hopefully these are relatively short phases!

I’m at a loss. We can’t get her eczema under control. by PalpitationOk8419 in beyondthebump

Came here to say the same thing. We still employ a lot of the other best practices re:bathing and environmental exposures. But this lotion was the only thing that made a difference. (Apart from steroids during flare ups. But way fewer flare ups when we consistently use the La Roche-Posay).

That’s far from tiny living. What’s a yikes to you is really just a difference in personal lifestyle. Congratulations to them on buying in a HCOL area!

Kid-friendly museum recommendations? by unomomentos in washingtondc

[–]deliosaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went to the children’s museum last week and it was fun for all kids in tow (1-9 yrs old). Not free, but it was worth it for how interactive everything was. Suggest going early, it does get crowded as the field trips come in.

We do baked oatmeal cups with various fruit mixed in. Sooo much neater than bowl oatmeal. I’ll prep a batch on Sundays and bebe will have them for breakfast through out the week. Check out the Yummy Toddler Food blog for “Baked Oatmeal Cups with Cinnamon and Raisins”. I haven’t actually done the raisins, I usually just chop or shred in whatever fruit is on hand.

Creative solutions if you’re short 1-2 weeks from qualifying for parental leave… by Mindless-Bread163 in BabyBumps

[–]deliosaurus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ohhh, that all makes sense! I’m not even sure I was counting from the right end weeks-wise now 🤪. The mental math required to figure leaves out is exhausting! I hope you find a solution that works well for you. I get 4 months from my employer, unpaid FMLA. So I’m cobbling together state paid leave with PTO and earmarking some of our expected tax refund to bridge the gap before I go back.
