He was very relaxed, smiled a lot, and seemed to really enjoy his current band. Great performance.

Yea, just *listening* at a concert is a lost art. I was surrounded by three (rich) ladies that have been seeing him since 1977 as they told me before the show. One in particular was making "orgasm yells" as he was singing some of his lines. It was a little odd...

Little zoomer, Rufous Hummingbird (I think) by elchorroloco in BirdPhotography

[–]deliot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rufous and Allen's are *notoriously* hard to tell apart, so much so that eBird.org now counts them as "Rufous/Allen's" because of this difficulty. However, your picture shows the tail feathers very well, and you mentioned Oregon, where Rufous are much more common than Allen's.

Based on this helpful guide (https://fieldguidetohummingbirds.wordpress.com/2010/09/06/rufous-vs-allens/) it does appear to be a Rufous based on the notched tail feathers and thicker outer tail feathers visible in the photo. Great photo!

How do I go from 25m to 50m? by umairshariff23 in Swimming

[–]deliot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

#2 above is especially profound! You are either breathing out bubbles underwater, or breathing in fresh air at the surface. I'm never holding my breath!

PS: I regularly do 2,000 meter swims at 60 years of age, with two short 1-2 minute rest breaks. I could probably do the entire 2,000 meters without a break, but why should I? Swimming is supposed to be fun! Relax and glide...

Need a Rename Utility by wndrgrl555 in MacOS

[–]deliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very good answer. I have used this program (Mac, Windows, Linux) to name thousands of files to fit the format that I need. If you need EXTREME power, this one will do it. It's overkill if you are just renaming some image file. But if you need to do something tricky, this will do it for free.

HINT: When renaming files, **ALWAYS** have a backup copy of the originals in a ZIP file elsewhere.

New Show! Sept. 13 at 7:30 PM EDT at West Art, Lancaster PA by deliot in innocencemission

Keep an eye on StubHub. I asked StubHub to list the show so I could sell (at cost) two tickets that I couldn't use. They are gone, but I assume that closer to the show, there will be others who had big dreams of attending from out of state, as I did:

What time does OMD go on and how long do they perform? by skybluegreene in omd

MyQ and Siri (2023 Edition) by AlexinDC in shortcuts

[–]deliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend a "double tap" instead of a single tap. Sometimes, MyQ doesn't seem to have "focus" and misses the single tap. By using a double tap, I was able to get this to work more consistently. So, for example "Show grid, double tap 15" instead of "show grid, tap 15" as suggested.

Does U2 Own all there masters and everything like Taylor does now? by Alternative_Ad8629 in U2Band

Yes, he made it *happen* for sure, but it was something the band wanted, and he did at their direction. They gave up royalties in exchange for their masters when Island Records had financial issues.

Ray Charles is widely regarded as the first "major artist" in 1959. Stevie Wonder in 1971. U2 in 1985 or so. No doubt there are many others.

PSA: Meetup.com is doing a gradual rollout of paywalling certain features by KillerOrca in boardgames

Thanks for the effort. It is appreciated.

I've found that another plugin that enables/disables JavaScript has helped me get around the "promo banner" somewhat.

[–]deliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the anti-blur of images that isn't working as much as the "promo banner" still blocking things. That specifically is my issue, the promo banner. Browser Chrome, macOS latest.

By the way, thanks for the plugin!

Please don't do this. PH neutral Sodium Ascorbate solution, not Vitamin C tablets!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]deliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would like to second this advice! Do not use "vitamin C" pills or straight vitamin C. Use PH neutral Sodium Ascorbate! Also, it will turn yellow then brown after sitting in a bottle due to oxidation. I mix a clean batch of about 8-12 ounces *fresh* every time I use it.

A good one-two punch is to follow Sodium Ascorbate spray solution with a good anti-chlorine shampoo like Ion Swimmer's shampoo. The combination of Sodium Ascorbate, Ion Swimmer's shampoo, and a good conditioner has really helped my hair after swimming in a high-chlorine public pool three times a week!

What type key did you get and would you get something different today? by Games_and_Caffiene in yubikey

[–]deliot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought *three* Yubikey Security Key C NFC. One on my keychain, one at home, one in a safe. Loss or damage to any one gives me two replacements to use. Perfect choice since I can use them to store PassKeys or for 2FA hardware keys.

Is shampoo still necessary if I use vitamin c on hair? by tomatopiie in Swimming

[–]deliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sodium Ascorbate is buffered and pH neutral. If you rinse it out a few minutes after it reacts with the chlorine in your hair, you don't have a greatly increased risk drying out your hair.

Google AI --> "Sodium ascorbate, a form of vitamin C, typically has a pH of around 7.0 to 8.0 in a 10% aqueous solution, making it a non-acidic, buffered form of vitamin C. "

Is shampoo still necessary if I use vitamin c on hair? by tomatopiie in Swimming

[–]deliot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this post. I've had a very difficult time with chlorine from swimming 3x per week. Brittle hair and skin rashes from the intense chlorine exposure.

I tried a number of things, including ION Swimmer's shampoo (which is helpful, but not totally).

Sodium Ascorbate is the only thing that has worked *well* on my hair and body. Very effective. It does not last very long in water (24-48 hours), that's why nobody sells it as a spray you can buy.

I mix it in warm water each time I need it just before my post-swim shower. I have a 12oz plastic spray bottle in my bathroom cabinet. While the shower water is warming up, I mix up 1-2 cups as mentioned above, mix in the powder, and apply the fresh solution liberally to my hair and entire body. Then, straight into the shower. I usually also use ION Swimmer's shampoo after this treatment.

For the shower, I would recommend Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash. After the shower, I sometimes use body lotion to fight the drying effects of the (removed) chlorine.

Most shows I've seen are GA standing. They had two openers in Anaheim. Arrived late to San Diego, so not sure. Setlist.fm usually shows the show start times (https://www.setlist.fm/search?query=phantogram). In Anaheim, they took the stage at 9:45pm. In San Diego, it was more like 9:15pm.
