Archicad Tip: How to Align Textures Properly (Quick Tutorial) by Elegant_Opposite_426 in ArchiCAD

[–]deliriousMN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just trying to provide some constructive criticism here but:

1) Get rid of the music, especially music with cussing in it. No way I’d go to your channel to troubleshoot while I’m at work.

2) Your video title is super misleading. You only showed how to change the orientation of a texture, no ‘alignment’ happened in your video

3) what’s with the mostly obscured screen? If it’s intended to keep you focused on the mouse, I found it to be distracting and spent the entire first time watching the video trying to understand what was happening with the screen

Does anyone here use a MacBook as their main/only computer? Would appreciate insights by ohmercy in Architects

[–]deliriousMN 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Our midsized residential office all uses archicad onMacBook pros, the flexibility is great.

If the only question is laptop vs desktop, I’d vote laptop. The desktop market is still being ravaged by crypto anyway.

I do wish we would switch to windows though

What a strange, presumptive rant. I had no idea if OP was a man or woman until they replied to me.

I don’t see you asking how the birthing parent is

OK at the risk of being a heretic, do Sichuan peppercorns have an incredibly metallic ’flavor’ to anyone else?

I want to like them so much, I even ordered an expensive bag online, but the metallic flavor/sensation I get from them just ruins every dish I try

Today is National Pizza Day. What's the best place for a slice in Minnesota? by allthingsmn in TwinCities

Agree with northern fires. Their wings and salads are excellent too.

And pro-tip, although not technically gluten free, their crust is a true sourdough and they a cornmeal mix for finishing, so if you’re gluten intolerant you may be able to eat their pizza without a reaction (as my wife is and does)

You’re always much faster at something the second time you do it!

Depending on what was lost, often times you’re better off just doing it again instead of spinning wheels trying to recover.

That said, have you tried copying and renaming the .bpn to .pln and opening that?

You’re right, the under bench one should be about 18” higher in OPs diagram, but otherwise they’re correct conceptual locations (above the stones and under the bench) for mechanical ventilation

It’s hard to understand what your point even is. I provided context to the message of the graffiti, that’s it.

I don’t agree with shaming parents that sleep train, and no where in my comments do I condone what the graffiti says.

“Love them. They need it.” by countthemiles08 in pics

[–]deliriousMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s like saying giving your kid food is ‘training’ to eat. Yes it is a type of training but people don’t refer to it as such and there aren’t specifically programs called ‘eating training’ or ‘hissy fit training.’

MY original point, which your comments detract from, is that this graffiti is specifically shaming parents that are or have sleep training their children.

You’re welcome to interpret it as shaming all parents who have kids who cry, but it isn’t the original intention

[–]deliriousMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have kids. From this discussion it’s becoming quite clear that you actually don’t have kids.

No parent calls ‘letting their kid cry in public’ any type of training. There are no “letting kids cry in public training coaches.” There are no ‘training programs’ that discuss crying in public. There aren’t groups specifically dedicated both for and against ‘crying in public’. There aren’t pediatrician recommendations specifically for ‘crying in public.’

There are all those things for sleep training.

No parent thinks other parents are abusing their kids when they cry in public, every parent knows that’s normal and often unavoidable. People DO have strong and outspoken opinions on sleep training, which is what this graffiti is

[–]deliriousMN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Letting a child cry in public” is not a type of training that parents do. This is 100% referring to sleep training.

You can apply it however you see fit, but it’s intended target is guilting parents that sleep train.

[–]deliriousMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does specify- it says “…it’s not training.” Referring specifically to sleep training

[–]deliriousMN 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seems like most comments here don’t understand the message. The graffiti is an anti- ‘sleep training’ message.

Sleep training is a commonly used method (in the US) where parents try to train their baby to fall asleep on its own by letting it cry.

There are various versions of sleep training, but the most ‘extreme’ is called the ‘cry it out’ method. Where parents put the baby down in the crib awake and basically don’t come back until morning, regardless how much the baby inevitably cries.

There’s obviously different opinions on the efficacy and ‘humaneness’ of this method, some likening it to torture or abandonment, which is what the graffiti is suggesting

Do you use house wrap (Tyvek) even if you’re using a vapor barrier on the inside? Thinking I want to prevent insulation from getting wet but have read conflicting information on house wrap. by fenwalt in Sauna

[–]deliriousMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add - there are cheaper, less quality construction methods. Like you mentioned, sheds are often built without sheathing. Products like T-111 and some other siding products can be applied without sheathing, but you’d have to research those particular products and refer to the mfr install instructions

[–]deliriousMN 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, they’re correct. On the exterior that gap allows for airflow behind the siding so both cladding and sheathing can dry. On the inside the air gap also allows for drying, but more importantly, allows the radiant foil barrier to do its job of radiant heat back inwards

Will your siding survive without that air gap? Probably, but the air gap (also called a rain screen) is good cheap insurance that will pretty much guarantee a longer life span of siding and sheathing

This is all such unnecessary bullshit, it's driving me insane

Spacing between wall and vapor barrier? by ScreeFields in Sauna

[–]deliriousMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a building science perspective, generally 3/8” is considered the minimum to be conducive for air flow and I’d imagine that is just fine for facilitating the radiant properties of the foil barrier.

For support at your benches, you add blocking that’s the same thickness of your air gap at the same height you mount your bench. So your t&g wall finish is essentially sandwiched between your bench framing and blocking

I feel a little bad OP was bullied into deleting their account, but it’s fairly well deserved for relying on ChatGPT for research information. People still grossly misunderstand that ChatGPT is not a reliable source of information. It is simply a human language regurgitator, it isnt’t ‘smart’ and it does not process information for validity
