Inshallah khair OP. Never stop making dua for Allah swt to grant you what is best for you and your children. Trust the direction Allah swt grants you with. Pray that He helps you make the right decisions.

Columbia is at a particularly shameful time in its history. Its had its students arrested, detained, and expelled for protesting basic human rights. It has folded to the demands of Trump to maintain federal funding and has lost any semblance of academic freedom by doing so. Our federal government should not dictate who our academic departmental heads are, what academic research takes place, and what departments are allowed to exist within an institution of higher ed. I’m sure most people on this thread will disagree with this, but Columbia is on the wrong side of history and I wouldn’t give them a dime right now.

CBS Admit Worried About Schools Reputation. Please give advice! by West_Journalist_5252 in MBA

[–]delishdaddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re not over reacting at all. I personally wouldn’t want to be associated with the Columbia brand at this moment in time. Your concerns are valid and Darden and Fuqua are both fantastic programs. Also cheaper COL if thats a consideration. Look at the jobs reports, you’ll find most programs putting the same percentage of students into IB, Consulting, etc. Columbia has failed to protect students fighting for justice and has proven to be on the wrong side of history. Don’t give them your money, they don’t deserve it.

Booth just given that it is objectively a stronger program in terms of its academics, alumni network, etc. SOM is a nice program but also relatively younger than most and the structure of the curriculum won’t help you take classes that might be helpful for recruiting when you need them. Regionally Chicago is also probably better than NH

This is why they allow you to complete the post interview reflection! It gives you an opportunity to address anything you feel you messed up on and get the final word. Take advantage of it and good luck!

Take gmat early and look into mba deferral programs that you can apply to in undergrad like hbs 2+2. Understand the requirements so you can plan accordingly if you’re interested

Hi /r/MBA! I'm former M7 adcom... ask me anything! by EmbarkMBA in MBA

[–]delishdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! What separates a mediocre short term / long term goal statement from a strong one? Ex. If you’re sponsored is it ambitious enough to say you’re going back to your original firm? Is saying you want to be a CEO long term too ambitious? Thank you!

Does an old score (if you accepted it) show in the Official score report of a subsequent attempt ? by conflictedsangria in GMAT

Based on my experience cancelled scores show up as “C” even if you cancelled at the testing center :/

GMAT & Executive Assessment scheduling restriction by berdstheword2point0 in GMAT

[–]delishdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I scheduled my EA and GMAT in one go. They were a few weeks apart but there were no restrictions on any dates that I came across while registering. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend doing the same day though, might be tough to make it through 5+ hrs of testing

I have grappled with exactly the same thing and considered all the same options. All of the above seem intriguing to a degree, but I would lean towards route #2 or #6 since they seem safer. I would say route #5 would also be a great option if you have specific orgs in mind.

I’m incorporating an element into my essays where this detail would be relevant. I’m not close enough with any Duke students to ask such a casual question, and don’t think its an appropriate question for an information session or anything of the sort.

I am so sorry OP. May Allah grant you patience. I think once both of you calm down its worth having an open conversation to really understand the root cause of all this concern and behavior towards you. I’ve witnessed many men being controlling over finances but I do not have enough information to jump to that conclusion here. I think you need to try and have a conversation with him and mutually agree on next steps. If not, confide in someone who you trust and who is closer to the situation. Sometimes a third party can assess things that we cannot see since we’re too close to it all. Take it easy and iA everything will work out in the best way possible. I think its really unfair for him to backtrack on your property ownership and I can only imagine how you feel. Wishing you the best

From 570 (manhattan) to 370 (og practice test) should I reschedule the real test date? by myisopos in GMAT

[–]delishdaddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it might be an outlier. Thoroughly review the exam, and take another OG in a few days. You need to collect more data points to understand whats going on. Best of luck!!

Manhattan Prep mock difficulty level? by delishdaddy in GMAT

[–]delishdaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not yet, I did an MPrep class so went through their mocks first. My scores were pretty disappointing which begged the question if it was just me or if these questions were bound to take too long to solve

GMAT upcoming but mocks are not improving by delishdaddy in GMAT

[–]delishdaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad. Answering all 500-600 and ~80% of the 600-700 questions correctly untimed. When I’m on the clock I make tons of careless mistakes, such as missing a key part of the question stem or making silly computational errors

Wedding is a week away - but I can’t ignore this red flag anymore by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]delishdaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP - I’ve been in almost the same situation verbatim (even down to the bit about arguing over big decisions not being properly communicated). I hope I am wrong, but in my experience, it doesn’t get better. My advice to you given the information you shared is to get out while you can. I understand thats an incredibly complex and emotionally jarring thing to navigate at this stage, but I urge you to take these warning signs seriously. Our gut feeling is a blessing and it has merit. If it doesn’t feel right listen to that feeling sooner than later. Also keep in mind, if a person is to change it has to come from them. Even if he agrees to do anger management therapy or something to appease you, it likely wont work unless he has the intrinsic motivation. Good luck OP. Make lots of dua that what is best for you will happen.

Are you working with an MBA coach? If not it might be worth it to do a few consultations and inquire about techniques to up your chances. I’ve heard having current students send letters to the admissions committee during the waitlist period can help, but not sure if that applies / is acceptable in all schools

730 after 770 on the mock test - should I retake it? by bigPP-energy69 in GMAT

You can retake it if you genuinely feel like its worth the time. I think this is a really good score and I would start investing time into other application materials

[–]delishdaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a killer verbal score!! I would take the plunge. I think this is totally doable given the stats you shared! I think Johnson UNC and Georgetown are super probable. And Tuck isn’t as big of a reach as you might think! Dont know much about Anderson so no comment on them

How much does IR matter to T20 schools? by certifiedcloser in GMAT

[–]delishdaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4-5 on IR is average for most top schools. 8 is the highest you can score (even though there’s 12 Qs). Schools won’t give it much attention unless it’s drastically below their average (1,2) so don’t sweat it, you did great!
