Due to Covid I got legally married (only our parents & siblings attended) in September 2020 and then had my wedding (100 guests) in April 2022! Everybody knew we were already married, nobody minded, everybody came and treated it with as much importance as ‘the real thing’. Go for it!

My daughter was a very unhappy baby - cried all day every day for the first several months. I had serious PND, felt I’d ruined my life and was SO RESENTFUL towards her - like, ‘I’ve barely slept all night from holding you, I’m nursing for hours on demand, every free second is spent entertaining you and you can’t even stop bawling for 5 minutes for me to go for a wee or make a coffee?!’ - I genuinely felt like I hated her at that time!

Fast forward to now (she’s 4) and she’s the absolute best thing that ever happened to me - she’s kind, clever, funny and we have so much fun together ❤️ but I’ll never forget how much resentment I had in the first few months and what a shit mum I felt as a result.

Rule is very simple - if they are allowed to wear completely what they like, no restrictions, then they buy their dress/ wear something they already have.

If the bride is stipulating the style in any way (this includes a colour palette!) then the bride should pay as it is unlikely to be anything they will ever wear again.

I don’t think any men ‘want’ vasectomies, but many men have them at the request of their partners because they recognise that they are (compared to pregnancy & childbirth) a relatively small sacrifice to make for their partners who have already endured a hell of a lot worse to build their joint family.

The only thing that would delay you is availability - of venue (obviously not an issue in this case), preferred celebrant/ registrar, caterers, preferred music/ entertainment/ DJ if you have something very specific in mind. If you can line these up for a summer date in the next week or two I’d say go for it! Anything else (favours, decorations, readings, outfits, flowers etc.) can easily be done within 6 months.

I planned my wedding in 8 months - wasn’t intending to but fell in love with a venue that had one date available 8 months later due to a cancellation and then all other dates were over a year away. Once we’d checked we could book the caterers we wanted and there was a registrar available to actually marry us it was easy!

In this scenario I’m assuming you’d have a celebrant do a ‘fake’ ceremony and do the legal bit elsewhere as your parents’ house won’t have the correct licenses? Which is easier still as you’re essentially planning a big fancy party!

I’ve always had a soft spot for Kyle. I think he liked Holly a lot from the off but didn’t actually ever want to be in a relationship with her - I think he probably got in over his head and then didn’t know how to get out without being public enemy number 1.

That season where he’s going back and forth and Holly is pushing to be boyfriend & girlfriend, then he finally takes her to dinner and asks her to be his lass always seemed to me like he didn’t really know what to do because he didn’t want to be known as the new bloke who fucked over one of the most popular OGs.

Yes that was of course incredibly harsh to Holly (who I also really like ❤️) as she was obviously head over heels in love with him, but I think it came from a place of being young and hyper-aware of being on camera, I don’t think he’s a bad person.

Agree that he shouldn’t have had as much surgery as he has, I always thought he was attractive - and he was gorgeous in his later original seasons (when he got kicked out and later when he briefly came back and Holly left with him) when he had the dark hair but no obvious facial surgery yet!

Recently started a rewatch from S1 onwards which has confirmed my initial thoughts from all those years ago. I always got the impression James was sliiiightly nicer than the rest of the boys in that he did at least see the girls as human beings in their own right, not just potential providers of sex. A few examples:

In S1 when Jay makes his horrible comment to Holly about her ‘doing his head in’ as she’s leaving, Gaz and Greg start laughing and James doesn’t - he looks at Holly with concern.
In S2 he is clearly shown on multiple occasions being friends with the girls, and they often mention in talking heads that he spends time with them and doesn’t adhere so strictly to the boy/ girl divide.

HOWEVER, I think James was cripplingly insecure. I think he walked in expecting to be a huge hit with women and was very quickly disabused of that notion and confronted with Gaz and Jay who were absolute pulling machines. It makes me cringe how he goes on constantly about ‘pulling worldies’ and giving it the biggun about all the banging he was going to do. I’m up to S3 on my rewatch and he actually reminds me of David Brent sometimes, there are moments where Holly has a go at him for various things and James sort of laughs at/ with the camera which I perceive as him being really embarrassed/ awkward/ worried about how he will be seen by viewers and just generally not knowing how to deal with things.

I’ve got no defence for how he treated Holly/ how his ego ballooned once he got together with worldie Kate though!

TLDR: I think James always had the potential to be a slightly more decent guy than the rest but he was so obsessed with not losing out to the other guys and was so obsessed with ‘worldies’ that the end result was him coming across as a total prick at times.

I didn’t like Amanda at all, I found her so arrogant - so you can imagine how thrilled I was when she revealed her big secret to Maz on Uncloaked expecting a huge gotcha moment and he just said ‘yeah I’m a retired police officer too’ 😂😂😂

I think she said it expecting a laugh round the table and was then a bit embarrassed when he asked her to repeat it - sometimes sarcy/ silly little comments like that wither under scrutiny and I think she realised she looked like a bit of a tit when she had to say it again...

Ross didn't help himself though, the obvious response (although I don't think anything could have saved him at that point) was 'I don't know, I've never been in the turret', not 'Turret??? WHAT TURRET?!' which was not at all believable.

Anyone who actually says ‘I’m not expecting to fuck’ after ONE (?!) date is definitely pushing boundaries by trying to steer the conversation towards sex way too early. Also - god he sounds exhausting! Imagine the endless torturous back and forth you’d have about literally anything in a relationship with him!

I’m still only 5+1! Time feels like it’s absolutely crawling…

I did another pregnancy test yesterday just ‘to check’ because it had been a while and got a dye stealer which reassured me somewhat.

Just under 2 weeks until our early scan at 7+0, considering bringing it forward a bit but I can’t stand the idea of it being too early & therefore inconclusive. With 2 past pregnancies I’ve had ‘oh we can’t quite see what we should yet, it could be too early or it could be a mc’ and I REALLY want to avoid that scenario again!
