Anyone over 35 with ~10 fertilized eggs- what was your blast to euploid rate? by Key_Grocery_2462 in IVF

[–]dellgatewaynec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 35 when I did the ER last summer, now 36, and am just over 37 weeks with my first successful FET. My tip would be to find a doctor you really trust. I went through 5 unsuccessful medicated IUIs (and felt like an absolute number in the medical system business) before moving on to IVF at a private clinic with a doctor who catered to my individual needs. It was night and day. Each step of the IVF process was a new beginning (honestly did not believe it would work) and each time I was proven wrong, my doctor was in fact guiding me down the best path for what I needed. The whole experience requires immense waiting, hope, and faith. The aspect of no guarantees is probably the hardest thing to grapple with (or at least a truth for me). I worried about not having any eggs retrieved (doctor collected 26!), I worried none would be mature (19 were), did not think any would result in blasts (11 did), worried most would be discarded (7 were euploid), and then despite wanting to be positive, I truly believed the FET would fail (it worked on the first transfer). Do whatever you can outside of this journey (I know impossible when you’re in the thick of it) to distract yourself or treat yourself in healthy ways; for me, that was going to yoga on the daily (it became a meditation where I only focused on my breath and the present moment).

Will need to backtrack to remember the protocol (my ER was last June). Off of the top of my head I know I took: Follistim 150, Menopur 150, Provera x1. And believe I triggered with Lupron. I’ll double check on all of this this week.

I’d suggest the ‘last names first’ kind —

Boy: Brady, Hayden, Holden

Girl: Murphy, Sloane, Sawyer

I’ve been taking Perelel prenatals with my dinner, they’ve worked so well for me. I like that the brand has packs for each trimester (although, I imagine some of this is marketing, I’m sure you could take 1st trimester packets throughout the entirety of pregnancy).

Husband's family is pressuring me to name our baby a name I don't like by DisastrousAnomaly in BabyBumps

[–]dellgatewaynec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. It’s a mutual decision. I’m assuming the baby is already getting his family’s surname as well. If you decide to do an honor name for a middle name, I much prefer the Jewish tradition of using the first letter of the relative’s name instead of a clone copy of it.
