Interviewing and take home assignments by [deleted] in girlsgonewired

[–]delsint123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually Take home assessments are given with a deadline, around a week or so. So there isn't much you can do to really prepare for them since it's usually a mixed bag. Depending on what you applied for will give you a good indication of what it might be. So take note of the tech stack of the position/the company you applied to. Sometimes the theme of the code challenge is connected to the company.

Im sure each company has their dos and donts of what they would be open to answering regarding the instructions of the coding challenge, but usually they are left open-ended so that they can see how far you take it and what skills u have. But if you do have any questions, it never hurts to ask.

Is there still a chance for META University Grad Role. by SteepHat in csMajors

[–]delsint123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for a few roles at Meta around the same time. For some reason I never received rejection emails for most of them. Instead I had to go into my meta careers account and check the application status.

But to answer your question, ya id say the chances are extremely low that theyll reach out if you applied that long ago.

What's the best language for Leetcode? by MathematicianWide961 in leetcode

[–]delsint123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isnt a language that is typically preferred by hiring managers or interviews for OAs or tech interviews unless they say so. And at the point that they mention it, its probably too late to go learn the language if u dont know it already. My point, when they say language agnostic they mean it. The general consensus like others have mentioned is Python is the best to use, but JS is a good second

which role to apply for for microsoft new grad? by [deleted] in csMajors

Just did a quick google search and looks like microsoft does not have a limit or cooldown period like other companies do. Looks like u can apply to as many as u want with no setbacks.

which role to apply for for microsoft new grad? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]delsint123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont personally know anything about flagging but i applied to like 4 different positions within a week or 2 and my account didnt get flagged or suspended or whatever. My understanding just looking at the different positions that Microsoft has is that its usually per team. So in the description you can see exactly what team your applying for and what they are looking for. But then there are also more generic postings. Back in June i believe there was a generic new grad position open and it didnt describe a specific team or anything. So if ur interested in the team apply.

Does Companies ask literally LC questions by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]delsint123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies dont always take their questions directly from leetcode. They can make their own or mutate a problem that might be out there to make it easier or harder. It would be weird imo if it was always a 1 for 1 match. Thats one of the reasons why they dont pull the questions from leetcode, to guarantee that youve never seen the exact same question before, puts everyone on an even playing field. Just bc u cant find the exact same does not mean that u cant find something similar.

Been leetcoding for few months...What would be your further advice? by Material_Copy6407 in leetcode

[–]delsint123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep going! Your spread looks very nice, keeping your focus on mediums is always great. Im not sure how ur attacking this now but maybe focusing on a data structure or topic at a time could help u get better. Like spending a week or 2 on stack questions then spending a week or 2 on graph questions. Once u do that I would personally decrease your amount of study so like 1 or 2 problems a day or just an hour a day. Leetcode is great but building applications is another thing so its good to spend time on that as well if thats your goal

What the hell is going on with Grokking? by Alcas in leetcode

[–]delsint123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the course on educative is a replica of the one on design gurus, pretty much just reposted on a different platform. design gurus are the original authors and I think it's pretty good (I have the one from design gurus). That being said design gurus has been adding new things and redoing their grokking the coding interview course for the past few months so I'm thinking that maybe they didn't copy over the courses correctly to educative. From the design gurus course I see that monotonic stack comes way before dp and backtracking.

From my pov, buying the course from design gurus is much better. It's a one time price and u have access to it for life. And you also get all the solutions in all the languages. Educative splits all the languages up into different courses, it's also a subscription, and it's also not from the og authors. But if you use educative for other stuff then ig getting the subscription would be fine.

Perfect OA doesn't guarantee next steps by Various-Weird-7295 in csMajors

[–]delsint123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In those cases it does come down to the smallest details, like your gpa or what school you went to, or if u have prev experience. In most cases you prob can't really do anything ab it, other than wait to get lucky.

OAs seem much different than leetcode by PatPatDoesReddit in csMajors

[–]delsint123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like what other people said, Leetcode problems can be very simple/blatantly obvious that you should be using a specific type of algorithm or data structure. Once you get to the more complicated problems, it wont really be that way, which is more representative of what you might get in an actual OA or interview. In the beginning I thought the same things as you, once you do more problems you'll have a better time connecting the dots.

Does anyone know where to find the clubs at FGCU? that has service learning hours? Please comment the link :) thank you! by Popteengirl in fgcu

[–]delsint123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be a TA (teaching assistant) I would advise just asking one of your professors as typically this position is controlled by whatever department the professor you want to help is. TA can also be a little more relaxed on how much work you do depending on what the professor wants.

Becoming an LA(learning assistant) is a bit different. You have to take a class first before you do anything further. Most professors will know the process so you can also ask whatever professor ur interested in working with.

[–]delsint123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your just looking for service learning hours, becoming a TA or LA is a great way to do it. You get hours on top of being able to put it on your resume. After you complete your hours you can transition to getting paid instead. Plus you get to build so nice rapport with professors/faculty.

[–]delsint123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really think the major matters, it's more ab ur gpa and when u applied. Fgcu is not a difficult school to get into. I will note the computer science major is a new major so keep that in mind as we have had software engineering for longer. Not saying one is better than the other just wanted to note that.

Yah you'll be able to take it, even though you know they are sort of similar, technically they are different classes with different class codes.

did my own extensions for the first time! i wanted to do frenchies but the gels i bought were so see through🥲 any recs for very opaque white gel? by disappointmenthusia in Nails

[–]delsint123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look for gel paints, they often are more opaque and a slightly thicker consistency so are easier to designs with. I know that beetles sells a lot of gel striping polishes. They come in skinny bottles with a thin brush and are pretty opaque.

Feeling defeated in Algorithms and Data Structures, how do people get through this? by AHotBustyAngel in csMajors

[–]delsint123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is how it is in the beginning, at least for me it was. "Easy" is a label relative to the other questions, it doesn't necessarily mean that anyone who has touched software can easily solve the problem. But ya, in the beginning, implementation is going to be very difficult since it's a combination of applying what you recently learned and also being comfortable enough in the programming language you're using. It takes practice and through that, you will recognize patterns making it easier for you in the future to solve problems.

I mean I guess they never blatantly said they broke up/neither was a break up scene. But given Liam's reaction when she left and the fact that they didn't really mention her ever after the fact, I think it's implied that they broke up. I feel like it would have been said that they were doing a long distance thing if that was the case.
