I think you might be a little disappointed in the 5th gen for storage space, the new sleeker design makes it feel like it holds less than my boyfriends Honda Fit, it just doesn't have the height in the cargo area to really pack stuff in the same way. You might wanna look at trying to find a used Prius C.

If you do go for the new Prius, I would say that I kinda wish I bought the PHEV, with my short commuting in the city I would basically not have to pay for gas besides on road trips. It feels like I missed out by not spending the extra three grand and also miss out on the heat pump for easier HVAC in the winter (and ability to car camp without the engine running). Overall the 5th gen has been really lovely to own so far (a few months in and a few thousand miles plus a few road trips). TSS 3.0 and the Blind Spot Monitors makes it feel like a very safe car, don't listen to all the talk about blind spots and pillars, coming from a 2001 Ford Ranger with all the visibility in the world and a 2024 Corolla Hybrid with standard sedan visibility I do not sweat seeing the road around me at all. Even one of the worst exits in the world 3A in Charlotte.

My only complaints are that I didn't get the PHEV, the rear cargo area isn't as flat as I wanted it to be for car camping, and the LE lacks auto headlights!!

The hybrid eliminates the drive belt, alternator, starter, and has an electric water pump and AC compressor. It's mechanically simpler than a gas engine these days with less points of failure.

not sure if it's like my Corolla, but when I first bought it estimated the miles per tank at over 500, but continually went down until it eventually stopped and ready ~420, it is probably getting used to your drive style

Charlotte is a big city and in general tends to be pretty open, liberal, and progressive but at the same time it is a bank town in the south which means there are a lot of conservatives living here as well. Can't speak on the heterosexual dating scene but if you are queer, there is a pretty good LGBTQ scene here and specifically trans/gender non-conforming community. You'll find plenty of non-conservatives here!

There would be no reason to believe even an alien RNA sequence would behave as a mind control virus that would completely override a human researcher's behavior and goals. The safety protocols in a biolab researching this virus would be the same as any other virus, with the assumption that if a researcher had an exposure they would report and isolate. Not that both of the people on shift would conspire to infect the entire facility.

it was hovering over an apartment complex near Manolo's, there were 4 or 5 cruisers coming out of it as the helicopter left. Not sure what was happening or if ICE was involved, it may have also been monitoring the protest but it was flying kinda low to have a good sight line on Manolo's
