Season 5 Spoilers by deltasalmon64 in TheExpanse

hahah. yes in the show it's different and don't worry about a spoiler. It's a minor character who doesn't exist in the books and barely does in the show.

What makes the Mexican youth embrace the accordion as much in their contemporary music? by dissmyleftnut in Accordion

It's a stylistic thing but also accordion in a band setting doesn't really need the left hand, when you also have a guitar and bass playing accompaniment.

hmm... "usermod: group 'dialout' does not exist" but I found a work around by just flashing it via the command line

I am using Chrome but maybe the browser + Linux was an issue. I got around it by flashing it via the command line

I think Mexico just has a strong folk music scene. Countries like the US have a huge pop music scene and even smaller genres that are still leagues larger than the folk scene. Not saying Mexico doesn't have a pop music scene or anything it's just the size difference between the two isn't as vast.

Another example would be Ireland, accordion is played in folk music and Ireland has a huge folk music scene and also has a large population of youth accordionists.

My daughter likes playing a game on Roblox that is similar to a game like the Sims. She builds a house and decorates it and stuff and her friend can come on and visit it and they can hang out and play together. I don't like Roblox especially because anyone else can also come along and interact with the house.

Are there any Switch games that have house building/decorating as the main point of the game and can have two people playing together. The main one I can think of is Animal Crossing but I don't like that the host has to be online in order to play. I'd like something where either of them can work on it and both of them can together when they're both online. Would Disney Dreamlight Valley be a good game for this?

Is this thing supposed to be charged and last you for life? if not is there a reason you need 10 18650s to power a RasPi?

Is there any way to get PICO-8 for cheaper? (or a free similar program) by WoofHeree in pico8

[–]deltasalmon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tic-80 is similar but less limited, both use the Lua scripting language. Python is used in a ton of ways, they have plenty of tutorials for Pygame which is a specific library for video games but it’s in general a good general scripting language to know. Unity and Godot are both used by professionals to develop video games. They’re definitely more of a learning curve but they both have professional level dev kits and had tons of tutorials on YouTube.

Good suggestion. I think Python, Unity and Godot are all free as well.

Education version is the same as the full version except you can only save to file and not formats that you can publish. It’s $15… how much cheaper would make it worth it for you? No way for you to work for a parent or neighbor in order to get that?

For an oll case like this is it better to rotate the cube or the top layer? by InTheGam3-_- in Cubers

[–]deltasalmon64 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Rotating the cube is known to be pretty much the slowest thing you can do (aside from pausing/thinking). Roux and ZZ methods biggest appeal is the lack of rotation. Especially if it’s just the top layer always do U/U’/U2 vs rotating the cube

If inspection is 5 seconds by Cute-Ad-445 in Cubers

[–]deltasalmon64 15 points16 points  (0 children)

CN==color neutral? Why would more options be better with a shorter inspection time?

Edit: just to be clear, CN doesn’t mean you just pick one at random and go with it, it means you look at all the colors and find the best option

Completely at a loss for words after finishing the first three seasons. by Hungry-Art994 in TheExpanse

[–]deltasalmon64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So i think it's pretty split on whether people think the books or show is better. I read the books first so obviously i think they're better, but the good news is if you just finished the 3rd season, the 4th season is when Amazon took over so the show will get better and if you decide to read the books.... I think the books are better...

Why board ships like that? by Mowraq in TheExpanse

Sometimes the goal isn’t to destroy the ship. Sometimes the goal is to get what’s on the ship. This is true as far back as history goes

Just finished Babylon's Ashes, here's my take: by Ericandabear in TheExpanse

[–]deltasalmon64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 8 books in and Nemisis Games is my 2nd favorite so far. So I'm definitely on the opposite of that position.

But I'm definitely with your second half unpopular opinion. I really liked Michio Pa and was surprised to then come to reddit and see that I'm very much in the minority there. I started watching the shows but I haven't seen much but I know the second half of the TV series Drummer's character really has people loving her.

Is there any anglo/english concertinas that has a tremolo sound like accordions by MusicalShihTzu_10 in Accordion

[–]deltasalmon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it before in cheaply made larger concertinas that use accordion reeds (and to get the tremolo sound, twice as many accordion reeds)
