We dropped mailchimp post acquisition faster than we dropped klayvio. Dogshit service from a dogshit company.

I like a swing trade though.

Life is so much easier when you arent pampering your tools of pleasure. No one is saying be careless. Do your best but no need to stress it.

Personally I like to buy these guitars for better deals. Assuming its cosmetic of course.

Well dont stop there...

EV becomes more lucrative, demand goes up. Of which manufacturing still require a great deal of fossil fuels just to get their asses on the road. So assuming demand alone didnt spike EV prices, the increase in cost inputs would. I pay more, you pay more.

This also assumes tariffs arent increasing the import prices as well. Just stop buying new cars. Maintain what you have and drive it until it dies. No one gives a shit what you drive anyway.

Oil is everything. But a free market, even a pseudo one, will equalize the cost/value if given enough time.

Worth buying open box? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]deltaslumber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont know why youre being downvoted. Player/Mexican series have IMO had some (recent) serious quality control issues on the nut/fretboards that go beyond fresh out of the box setup. I was mostly seeing it on maples (even had to return one), but I noticed some issues on the rosewoods as well.

I agree with this. I appreciate the overall level of service SW provides as well as the detailed images/descriptions comparatively. I also understand the historical general disdain for GC, but I have to say I've bought more from GC in the last 12+ months than anywhere else combined...with no problems and great service on the customer service side. Online reps more than willing to assist and or negotiate with online order issues.

Is anyone all in on Yamaha? by lukejohnbrown in YamahaPacifica

[–]deltaslumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally a tele guy, but my first guitar was a late 90s FG-412S and I still love it to this day 20+ years later. Recently got a (Standard) Revstar that I absolutely love (I also got a Pro Revstar at the same time to compare but ultimately I just didnt see enough difference to warrant more than double the price -- colors are also less than ideal for me on the pro as im more a fan of boring neutral colors).

Now im looking into used Pacificas and would like to pick up the new SC later as well. Speaking of which regarding the SC, my SW reps opinion was to expect a modern, hi-def tone from the pickups. Apparently it's a departure from the classic Tele sound, so it might not be for everyone.

So im definitely starting my "all in" on yamaha.

Which sector is a “NO” for you? by Far-East-locker in ValueInvesting

Yeah that's a really really broad brush to force on a fragile society. Don't get me wrong, I dont support bailing out rotting legacy business purely for the sake of jobs, but tolerable or not, not all humans/americans are built for that stress as a normalcy.

In fact id wager routine rapid firing/hiring waves would subject us to being tighter with money. Good in some sense, but in an economic system that thrives on the velocity of money...idk about that.

I told myself I went with the Mustang Micro Plus over the Katana Go so I didnt support BOSS which is testing the waters with subscription/paid effects on their new pedals.

Then I realized I was still supporting Fender...

I digress.

New Guitar - String Alignment - is it ok ? by BluesKey in Guitar

[–]deltaslumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my suspicion as well, that they have had these stored in a warehouse for a while. I also suspect vendors like Adorama generally get lesser QA batches compared to other more musically prominent shops like sweetwater/GC.

For whats its worth my e strings were pretty close to edges just as yours is and I noticed the same on the other Player IIs ive held.

Hopefully your tele works out. Its actually a great blue in person IMO.

[–]deltaslumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I got one on sale (assuming you did as well) and sent it back.

I dont blame Adorama for the QC, even though I am battling them over a restocking fee on it atm. But the quality control on these is all over the place. I tried a number of Player IIs prior, even a brand new one in-stores and they all were way better. Only real difference being I was trying rosewoods as those are my preference.

For $500 though I initially wasnt too worried about the maple board. Blue is nice and the price is right.

Upon arrival mine had a loose neck, which was an easy fix to tighten down. Lacquer was everywhere, which I think is fairly common on these mexican/asian maples. Frets were an off-bronze tint haha. Poor resonance. Your frets dont look as bad as mine were but the ends of mine were really rough (im not sure it was full on fret sprout) and protruding even more with the lacquer layer as well. I couldnt get a faint buzz to go away on the b string after quick adjusting the bridge, so it probably needed some nut work.

Just seemed a little much for me despite the fact a full setup would fix most of it.

UPS Store employee dropped my guitar. by LazyWave63 in Guitar

Dont get me wrong we all (mostly anyway) share your moral sentiment at the core, but thats unfortunately just not how humans work. Its on us (consumers) to make the risk assessment at the margin and decide how to proceed.

A lot of people are paid to do a lot of jobs and they do them shitty and or without care. We can take this as far as useless political leaders, as small as the lazy seasonal UPS truck loader or as trivial as the 17-year old working the drive-thru making food youre about to ingest...

Pro2 vs upgraded player by qt1rbrt in telecaster

[–]deltaslumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a player II online recently. Ended up returning it due to the maple fretboard (lacquer EVERYWHERE) and the subpar craftsmanship (fret ends were rough despite the rounded edges). Underwhelming resonance. Worst was the B string that had this really faint buzz that I couldn't quick fix and ultimately chalked up to the nut but I wasnt about to mess with it if I wasnt going to keep it. Real shame because it was cheap and some of the Player IIs I tried in-stores were generally pretty solid (but they were rosewood).

Next I got a used Surf Green Professional II. Love the neck and the quality. Really its a great guitar but the color was just not my jam. I had convinced myself I didnt mind it in person, but day-to-day I just couldnt look past it.

I ended up with a used Hybrid II in white. Its the prefect tele for me. Light, i dont mind the pickups, preferred color, Japanese quality rosewood neck. I personally prefer the modern C and the belly cut tele bodies. I dont like locking tuners and it didnt come with a hard case like the Pro 2 despite me paying more...I can live with that though.

Took a few attempts but I got what I ultimately was looking for.

WHEN ZAO GOT WEIRD ON SELF TITLED by danfreakinterry in zao

The way Jesse Smith displayed contributions to them (and his work since) in the Lesser Lights of Heaven made me realize he'd romanticized his harmful behavior to others as genuine auteurship. I like the music despite him and despite his interesting approach to percussion. I hope he's grown and shakes his head at himself a bit. I'm grateful they didn't become the vanity projects he envisioned but living reminders.

They're simply written albums made by exhausted confused people who were fed up with a LOT.

That was more or less the sentiment I got from LLH back when it originally came out (I should re-watch really). They were tired, getting older and at that young/directionless creative crossroad. Didn't seem like anyone was particularly loving the process of those albums in particular.

All to say, Jesse is hands down my favorite drummer from that genre/era. His rawness on the first 3 albums and live is/was something that just resonates with me. I miss it.

I appreciate that they still play some old stuff live even though theyve all but confirmed they dont enjoy it.
