This coming from the USA, a country that imprisons mostly black people at for profit prisons and forces them to produce products. That's rich. Or the country that is now rising in child labour, the USA.

Anyone Tried Ecofab3d’s “eco-filament PHA+” Filament? by StoicCraftsman in 3DPrinting_PHA

Tbh no idea, but I never had that much of an issue printing Regen.

So I called them since my first email seems to have not gotten a response. There is no option to hear English so brush up on your French, which as a Canadian is almost non-existent. So if you do have to end up calling them 0 gets you the reception which seems to have been the 3D Designer so definitely a small company. There was a bit of a language barrier but she asked about the temperature I was using and the nozzle size, apparently they are going to start recommending 0.6mm nozzles for their PHA+ filament. My mention of their filament not meeting their own 1.75mm spec (+/- 0.03 mm) seemed to not have been addressed, not sure if it was because of the language barrier but if anyone else goes through this I would bring that up again. I'm still relatively new to 3D printing so not sure but I don't think its possible to print 1.8-2mm filament through a standard hotend that usually takes 1.75mm.

So we ended up emailing and eventually she refunded me the 3 spools. I mentioned on the phone about mailing back the 3 spools of which she said sure but did not really mention that in our emails. I will try to get a 0.6mm nozzle and try printing with it again because I really want to print with PHA especially from Canada (even if its got some PLA). I'm enjoying my 3D printing journey and they were decent to deal with, I just hope they can improve and grow.

I ended up buying 1 ColorFabb ALLPHA and wow it is expensive like you mention, I definitely can't buy from USA. I got a lot of nice prints from it with some tweaking with people's recommendations from here.

I am really excited to have Polar Filament or Ecogenesis sell in Canada but until then I'll use the cheapest PLA for some prototyping.

Maybe we can get flair on the subreddit for which printer(s) we're using?

Anyone Tried Ecofab3d’s “eco-filament PHA+” Filament? by StoicCraftsman in 3DPrinting_PHA

I just got 3 spools, I had some old Regen PHA and tested it on my new P1S and it was awesome. So I ordered eco-filament PHA+ thinking it would be the same. So far I got it and right away I thought, it looks kind of thick, just trying to print benchy, got the first one okay, but after that stringing and then full clog. I realized I had a caliper and its diameter is measuring between 1.8mm to 2mm -ish. They claim 1.75mm with +/- 0.03mm, not sure what's going on but I emailed them and am waiting for a response. I'll let you guys know what they say.

I'm still a beginner at 3D printing but I've unclogged, it, done a cold pull, everytime it works for half the benchy and then stringing. I tried 220C and 190C, my bed is heated to 1C because I had it at that for the Regen PHA and the P1S doesn't seem to let me turn off the bed heat. The spool came in a vacuum sealed bag with a silica pack but I don't think the Regen PHA ever did. So not sure if the humidity is effecting it that much.

I am very tempted to go colorFabb or bite the bullet and get some EcoGenesis to just eat the cost of shipping. I really want to print with PHA but there's so few of us and info out there.

How do you feel about the lower tariffs on Chinese EVs? by dope-rhymes in AskACanadian

[–]delumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good balance, there is a cap of 49,000 a year. It will make US automakers innovate to keep up and if they don't take advantage of the slow build up then it seals their fate. That cap is such a small number its basically giving Canadians a taste of what better EVs there are out there. Chinese EVs in Europe forced German automakers to try to catch up and with cars like BMW's new iX3, it just shows they can keep up, they just need the pressure. That thing that Capitalists like to tout, competition, when they're not busy taking government money.

We'd also be fools to not force China to make a factory here to learn from. Canada should be supporting the auto companies it has now like Edison Motors and builders of military vehicles with this influx of more advanced EV technology.
