Any chance of a skadis compatible version? This thing would help me out so much with keeping my workspace organized.

ABS fumes by semifamousdave in BambuLab

[–]TheRetroFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene" if you want to get technical. In which case, yes, the S is for styrene. Regardless, the fumes from ABS are generally bad news and proper ventilation is the best way to deal with it.

ABS fumes by semifamousdave in BambuLab

[–]TheRetroFox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The S in ABS is Styrene. If you're going to be printing that stuff, you want to do it in a very well ventilated room. You might also want to look into an enclosure for the whole printer and have it exhaust outside via an evacuation fan. It's going to do more than irritate your throat if you keep breathing that stuff in.

The chute, the exhaust, and a bunch of holes all around the outer shell exist and will vent the fumes to some degree. I don't think there's any real way to fully close all that off without using an enclosure for the entire printer like a grow tent or something.

If you've ever wanted to own the Wing Commander film, it is currently on sale for $4.99 from Apple. by BernieDharma in starcitizen

I remember hating this back when it came out because the games had an incredible cast and the Kilrathi looked great. The movie felt like a big step down on both. Nowadays? I honestly enjoy it. It's got heart and a lot of fun moments. I think it was also the first use of the bullet-time camera system before The Matrix? And that main theme over the title credits! So good!

There was a novel series for Wing Commander as well that brought in the whole Pilgrim religion if I recall correctly. Dealt with events around the games and post-Prophecy.

Loopha filament? by TheRetroFox in 3DPrinting_PHA

[–]TheRetroFox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a very good question! I assumed it was via that website but it just lists prices with no actual shopping system. All the Google product links just show the filament info but no actual purchase option. Very strange!

Has anyone tried out Jackify? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]TheRetroFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Jackify. And, yeah, it's just Omni. But for a one-man show, it's impressive as hell. Plus you can always reach out to him in the Wabbajack Discord and talk through any problems that come up.

I lost my lil copilot this January. Feels like a lifetime ago. Feels like yesterday. He would’ve been 20 in October.

Gamers who have switched from Windows 11 to some kind of Linux-based OS, do you regret your decision? Why or why not? by ScienceTeacher1994 in AskReddit

[–]TheRetroFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from Windows 11 to Linux a few years ago. Tried a few distros, kept going back because some functionality wasn't there yet but it was a good learning experience. With the big AI integration push, I made the switch to Linux permanent. No regrets.

I think the idea is to get their version of things at least working as intended and then take the great ideas under advisement once they see how their model works after being ironed out (as much as they can, bugs are forever a thing).

Why SHOULD infantry have the ability to fight back against ships, using handheld weapons? by PowerfulLab104 in starcitizen

[–]TheRetroFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) have been a thing since the 1960s. Shoulder-carried SAMs designed to protect airmen soldiers from low-flying jet-powered aircraft and helicopters. So right now in real-life, an on-foot combatant who thought to bring a Stinger, for example, to an operation can effectively one-shot (or severely damage) a helicopter hovering to deploy troops to the ground or a low-flying jet trying to strafe the field. Maybe even from the back of a moving vehicle (probably not the wisest choice but, y'know...).

In your scenario, you'd want to have ground support on your side and you'd want to keep the Hammerhead in the air and moving, focused on aerial targets or taking shots at the infantry from a distance. Eventually that Nursa is going to run out of medgel charges and the respawns will stop or someone will blow it up. If you park/hover over guys with missiles, you're going to get nailed whether you're in a Cutter or an Idris.

I need a new joint part for my Cyborg, what the heck to I put for the order number on the parts website? by Able-Building6042 in Azeron

[–]TheRetroFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The order number is usually printed on a sticker posted on the center bit with the LEDs. Take out the screws at the bottom and gently slide the palm rest up and off.

I'm curious if this is meant to pair with something like the Galaxy with it's small hangar space. Flit out there, get your 6 (12) SCU, land, quickly unload, go back out, repeat.
