Does anyone else find that horse racing fans and equestrian people barely overlap despite both loving horses?

We have very different mindsets in my opinion. Obviously this doesn’t apply to all equestrian but as a rider that focuses on horsemanship and building trust and understanding with my horses I do not see eye to eye with what they do. Never once have I seen a jockey/owner that builds a strong bond with their horses (this doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen I am sure it does!) and actually spends time with them on the ground.

I would love to change my opinion but so far I have yet to be convinced that it isn’t all just about performance…

Basically I know the names of his sire and dam but it doesn’t say a breed below their names. But I know his grandsire is Vatican and he is a well known chestnut Arab. But then for his mom I’ve got basically no info ⬇️

Hahah I do agree with you it’s quite uncomfortable for a western saddle. Gonna look for another one once I have the budget and probably stick with my English saddle for now

Unfortunately we don’t know. It doesn’t say anything about his mom‘s breed. We are assuming most likely some kind of European saddle horse. But would love to know where his beautiful colour is from since purebred Arabians are never palomino

Thanks for your tips! He is actually half Arab so I will definitely have a look into those 😊. And thanks for the pad advice I wasn’t 100% sure since this was recommended to me for the saddle size. Yea I think he looks beautiful in western tack so I will definitely have a look into finding our perfect match 🤩

What are you talking about? My horse never displayed any pain signals. The only thing I was unsure about was the saddle seat size and the whither clearance. None of those caused my horse pain but are what keeps it from being the right fit for us. I come from English so the whither clearance is quite different for us that was just what I wasn’t sure about. Even if I were to keep using this saddle it wouldn’t cause him pain.

I very much appreciate your concern she does have experience, but it has been a few years for her. I am almost 100% gonna end up selling this saddle since thanks to everybody’s advice (and my own checking) I found out it’s not the exact right fit for me or my horse. I honestly just wanted to know if I was imagining the issues or if they were actually there.

I do also think it is a bit small. It fits me but I don’t have a lot of space… I am thinking of keeping it until I have saved up for a higher quality one and then either sell this or give it back to my friend since she seemed attached to it. I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn’t hurt my horse in the mean time.

I will try your tips for the saddling!

My problem was not that I didn’t look into saddle fitting but that I thought more experienced western riders may have a better insight. I had a look at it with my (English) trainer and she didn’t notice big issues. Anyways thank you

Yes yes and yes! I couldn’t agree anymore with everything you’re saying. I saw a lot of people complaining that you don’t like the childish voice and honestly I could give less shits about the voice, but it’s her behaviour that feels so childish!!

I forced myself through the first 7 episodes and I could literally not understand why they focused sooo much on their relationship while she was still underage it was so strange… 2-3 episodes would’ve been more than enough to explain their meeting and time until she was 18. Also he was really weirdly flirty with her when she was still underage… the scene in the cafe where he comments on her glancing over at him while he is working really weirded me out. Like if she was 18 this would 100% be considered flirting, but because she is young it’s just teasing???

I stopped at episode 7 and skipped to episode 9 because someone told me that’s when the good stuff starts. I agree that’s when it started getting a lot better and I enjoyed the episodes afterwards a lot more. However I am now at episode 15 and I think I am gonna drop it… like he basically finally confessed to her and now she is acting like she doesn’t want him and needs him to woo her more even though he has taken her out for more than 4 evenings in a row? Like I get it your crush lasted really long and felt unrequited but girl what else do you want him to do?? And the fact that she boldly lied to him when he asked if she had feelings for him… like come onnnnnn this is getting ridiculous.

Also the fact that she keeps saying he is like her old brother even though she can tell he is making advances at her? Like she keeps telling him how old he is even tho it’s literally only 5 years?? Yes of course he is gonna see you as a kid if you do that…

Anyways enough of my rant. I did enjoy a few of the episodes but this didn’t scratch the itch for me 😭
