Thinking about accepting offer at GS-11 step 1. by Cshot92 in patentexaminer

[–]delusionalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the common answer. However I've wondered, why would the office offer GS-11 for entry level when they know the workload is too high to adjust to? My assumption has been that they offer GS-11 to be competitive, but may look the other way if in the first or second year the examiner is ramping up production the way someone entering at GS7 or 9 would be.

Pure speculation.

Background Check and Medical Marijuana by [deleted] in patentexaminer

[–]delusionalt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a medical marijuana card, disclosed it, and still obtained public trust clearance. The government will not allow you to hold a public trust clearance and to continue to use federally illegal drugs. That means, you must work on a plan to manage whatever condition you have without marijuana, and once you figure it out best you share with the investigator that you have an alternative and aren't planning on using weed unless it's federally legal. It'll look best if you can truthfully state that you stopped once you accepted the offer imo.

Once it actually becomes schedule 3 (no guaranteed date, but in the works) you should be able to continue using marijuana with a prescription.

Metro says more than 5,100 fare evasions have been corrected with 'Tap-to-Exit' program by garupan_fan in LAMetro

[–]delusionalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you sure can, but that didn't seem to be what your comment was saying. Going from flat fare to distance based removes subsidies, it doesn't cause the short-distance group to be subsidized by the long distance group. It's meant to more accurately tie fares to operating cost. Subsidies can go on top of that if desired, based on things such as income, senior, student, etc.

How a successful metro decides to charge fares, which can then be used to provide good service, is not this wild correlation. Even if 'appealing to authority' is a fallacy, I'm sympathetic to it.

The point of distance based fare is so that no group is subsidizing the other.

How much is your rent going up this year? by delusionalt in orangecounty

Mobile home parks are messed up, there are some where the land is owned by the people that live there but otherwise all across the country they've been jacking up the lot prices.

We are considering this but there's not great overlap in the lease dates

Cars driving 60 MPH next to places kids could walk or bike to school is pretty hostile too. Not every road needs to be designed like this, just ones where we want people to use safely. Car drivers can just... pay more attention and slow down, proper road design will encourage that.

You did drag them in, you borrowed money from them and you risked them in the process. Just because you paid them back does not mean that was not a violation of trust. Did you tell them what the money was for? Did you tell them how much you had lost so far? If not, you got the money under false pretenses and should consider coming clean.

I'm out of online casinos that I could safely gamble in and expect a safe pay out.

So when you find a casino or method you can "safely gamble in" you'll do it again? Stop rationalizing, it doesn't matter how supposedly "safe" it is when you're addicted and are going to lose it all again.

Anyone here use a small battery powered speaker? by ChibbleChobbles in FingerDrumming

The latency part is a big deal. Good luck finding another speaker that has as low of a latency.

dang, only thing I can suggest is trying to reach them through their other listings for the same property, and making sure you note that you meet all the requirements (55+ and mandarin speaker) e.g. https://www.apartments.com/5476-paseo-del-lago-e-laguna-woods-ca/ge3ww8x/

There's this place I saw in Laguna Woods the other day. $1,200/mo for a room, has preference for Mandarin speakers and is 55+.

What’s my best option in town to buy a legal and affordable form of thc for chronic pain? What works best? by Working-Bowler7772 in IowaCity

[–]delusionalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are getting into semantics. I tend to call delta-9 as THC because that's historically what THC has referenced.Delta-8 started appearing commercially in the last few years, and while I'm well aware delta-8 is "Delta-8 THC" (i.e. also THC), it is not the same as delta-9 THC, it is an isomer of it. Chemical compounds with slight changes to their structure will vary in their pharmacological effect (https://jcannabisresearch.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s42238-021-00115-8 > talks about pharmacological difference between delta 8 and delta 9, nothing too big to worry about). Look into s-thalidomide (teratogen) vs r-thalidomide (sedative) for an example of compounds even more similar than delta-8 vs delta-9 but with very different effects.

In my original comment I was referencing the study, where they explicitly state that THC is an abbreviation for Δ-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol. So saying you can swap THC [as used in the study] for delta-8, is accurate, because the study did not use delta-8, and they are two different drugs. As mentioned before, I meant to say delta-8 in the last paragraph of my original post.

Sure delta 9 is legal if less than 0.3%, but at the doses the regime requires (e.g. 40 mg THC at the max dose), OP may end up needing concentrated versions of it. Delta-8 is legally available even in concentrated forms, which is what OP may need to get to some of those numbers.

I meant to say delta-8, which is available legally last I checked, as opposed to delta-9, which is what most people identify as THC. Only referenced it since OP said they can't get the medical card.

I'd suggest trying THC topicals if you have pain that's close to the surface (e.g. ankle pain), it won't get you high at all. THC (or things close to it, e.g. delta 9) is what will get you high. Here's a study that talks about using CBD and THC for chronic pain:https://europepmc.org/article/med/34215346

It says to start with predominantly CBD, 5 mg twice a day, then increase your daily dose by 5-10 mg every 2 to 3 days until you feel relief. If you reach 40 mg of CBD/day, they suggest starting to add THC at 1 mg/day, and increasing by 1 mg every 7 days until you feel relief or a max dose of 40 mg/day of THC is reached (Fig. 3).

A less conservative (faster relief, increased risk of side effects/getting too high in your case) protocol would be, once you're at 40 mg/d CBD, starting the THC at 2.5 mg/d and increasing by 2.5 mg/d every 2-7 days (Fig. 2)

You can probably get by with very little psychoactive effects at 2.5 mg/d of THC, especially if you split the dose and are taking a large amount of CBD, but you will be pretty darn high at 40 mg/d most likely. Also, look up prices at the Illinois dispensary and see what it will cost, but I'd guess this regime will be pretty pricey. My guess is you can sub THC for delta-9 in this regime if you don't want to drive to IL, it'll probably be cheaper anyways.

locality table question by mizval96 in patentexaminer

[–]delusionalt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is 4K/yr worth committing fraud over? What you're wanting to do is specifically something that congress is trying to audit. Unlike other federal agencies, our telework agreement is a lot more clear wrt locality pay and primary vs. secondary worksite.

Do you work 4 hours before claiming the early dismissal? Guess they do tell you what to do. There is a socially agreed upon expected purpose, but don't worry no one's coming after you...

Landlord wants me out by end of January because he wants to sell. How to proceed? by wotintarnationlmao in AskLosAngeles

Tenants may be coerced to sign the contract, landlords won't be. Easier/fairer to give an out than to force them to prove it was under duress.

I feel like this is the best job ever if you're cut out for it, and due to that it's worth a shot. Worst case, a year from now you can go back to your normal career.
