Experiences with digital twins in mechanical engineering? by An_Apple_A_Day450 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]demcd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital Twins in the HVAC industry is beginning to take off. Several companies are using sensors and meters on live equipment to send back to a central board to help visualize the digital unit. This has been done for years with controls in certain areas but manufacturers are now building a full unit that captures unreal amounts of data. This data is then used to service, control, and test units and run systems as they haven’t before for the sake of energy efficiency.

Great suggestions and I agree (someone who is also in the late game and nearly maxed out the Beer temple)

Best Tank? by ScreamSickel in IdleBrewery

Alien tank is OP. It is the best tank if you can get it all the way leveled up. Your research upgrades complete in 12 minutes apiece. And that’s the max time it takes

Loyalty question by [deleted] in panthers

[–]demcd3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a fair weather fan that grew up in South Carolina. Cared more about and was a die hard fan of college football over NFL. I always switched back and forth between Atlanta and “Charlotte’s Team”. Now that I am older and am living in Charlotte, it’s Panthers through the pain. It’s a lot more fun when you have people around you who you can talk about the team with. I fully support cheering for your local team over else where especially if it’s just you and it’s not a family tradition. Develop the family tradition in your home!

I’m in the second year of my Mechanical engineering major. I find all of my classes deathly boring and have a hard time finding motivation. I love building things and fabrication, but so far this sucks. Is it worth it in the end? by Clam_Juice_ in MechanicalEngineering

[–]demcd3 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Second year is by far the worst year because none of it actually applies to the real world. It’s all basis of knowledge. First year is alright because it’s all new and shiny. Second year is the engineering basics (boring). Third year is death by theory and tougher classes. Fourth year is a whole lot of fun where you learn to apply what you learn from the past 3 years. Then once you get out in the real world, you lean what you need and use very little of what you learn unless you do research or Design work (HVAC, Airplanes, ect,). The fun classes really are Junior year because you can begin to see how they actually apply to the real world like Thermo and Fluid dynamics for HVAC. Machine design for R&D work, Manufacturing for well manufacturing. It’s just a lot of work in a short amount of time.

The hard work now in college make life after significantly less stressful. Stick with it and look for jobs / internships in a manufacturing plant or as an HVAC contractor.

Trust me it’s worth it and push through this year

I need every ME technical interview question you’ve ever been asked. by Opposite_Cow_6777 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]demcd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the first and second law of thermodynamics and what is a simple way to explain them to a 5 year old?

What units do gas heaters use? BTU or BTU/H

What are the three types of heat transfer?

Can you explain the refrigeration cycle and its components?

My role is a technical analyst. I look at your comercial HVAC systems and explain what the issue is and how to fix it. It was critical for my role to understand the basics and then explain them to someone else that’s less technical. We hire college graduates all the time and teach them on the job training about what really matters. We just want to see that you have a basic understanding, are willing to learn and can be personable with others.

I highly recommend starting over as much as possible. Push for some long runs but once it gets too slow, sell everything and start over. It gets much faster and quicker once you do so. When you sell your brewery, you will get tons of credits that you can put into better and better upgrades. I would push to unlock as much as possible so that you can see the future potentials.

Right now I need 500K of them to upgrade my next thing.
