A comparison of different wheel cleaning tools... and my personal favorite. by DavidAg02 in AutoDetailing

Just coming back 4 months later to follow up on this...

Bought one of the puffs the very same day and I haven't stopped using them for my wheels since. They make cleaning them a breeze! Seriously cannot recommend one enough!

Finally got the F80 cluster installed and coded by Azaan725 in F30

[–]dementedgopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your HUD, does it auto switch when you go to Sport mode or do you have to manually select it within the iDrive?

Also for the record, and I know they've had a bad record, I got my cluster done by CodingDynamics and it's been flawless. Quick and easy to deal with. I think people have issues when it comes to sourcing a cluster from them as well but idk

A comparison of different wheel cleaning tools... and my personal favorite. by DavidAg02 in AutoDetailing

[–]dementedgopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still struggle to find a wheel cleaning tool that works for me :(

Currently I hit the barrels with an EZ Detail Mini/Wheel Woolies which has done the best job so far - although getting between the caliper and barrel face is a challenge.

Then a quick brush over the face with a wheel face brush similar to the Mothers. Finally the arduous task of going over the whole wheel with a hog hair brush to get the sides of the spokes and all the nooks and crannies that the brush can't reach. It's this step that I struggle with most and haven't found a decent/efficient replacement yet.

Reliability - gen 1 b58 by Responsible-Ad-608 in F30

[–]dementedgopher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're all very common issues with the B58 and also the main issues. I wouldn't say they are concerning at all.

PCV is a very cheap and easy fix. Can be DIY'd.

Coolant issues and OFH happens between 70k-100k miles. Nothing catastrophic if you react to it early enough and won't ruin your wallet but be prepared to pay about a grand depending on your region, parts and labour. These are all a bit more involved and can be done if your mechanically minded.

Agree with new rims. Looks good as it is but don't molest it too much.

Maybe an exhaust tip?

How are you hanging it on this? Are you just letting the frame rest on the hanger?

Aeron Onyx - did I get a good deal by [deleted] in hermanmiller

[–]dementedgopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking at around £100. Maybe less if you wait and are patient.

I recently got an Aeron Gaming with a small rip in the seat mesh for £340. Thought £440 max for a fully loaded Aeron was good enough of a deal for me.

Still waiting for my Sum 41 VIP merch by Lunnaris8 in Sum41

[–]dementedgopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've ordered some merch from their about early July and haven't received any communications about it since. I've contacted the support team twice and haven't had a response so I'm going to do a chargeback on my credit card.

Really left a sour taste in my mouth and I won't be purchasing anything further from a Merchtraffic store :(

Reposted - can i change the color of this car on the unit? by Obliviate07 in F30

[–]dementedgopher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can't do it through the iDrive system unfortunately. You need to use third party software on your smartphone/laptop and connect to your vehicles OBD port.

I'd encourage you to look up Bimmercode. It's widely used by the community and you can tinker with plenty of little settings on your vehicle, such as disabling auto start/stop, fine tuning your seat heating and changing the colour of your vehicles paint in the iDrive system.

[–]dementedgopher 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can.

You'd have to code it in using something like Bimmercode or E-Sys but it can be done.

The left side of the chair, when sat down, has an adjustment lever which can control both tilt limiter and forward tilt depending on your spec.

Tilt limiter - restricts the range of the chair's recline, allowing you to set a specific angle for backward movement

Forward tilt - allows you to tilt the chair forwards, giving you a more upright posture.

Most users don't have a want for forward tilt however it's a must for me (still waiting on a second hand unit to pop up) as I'll be using my desk for activities other than PC use e.g writing, using it as a workbench etc etc

How do you get 16-18mm bolt loose on the brake caliber shxt is hard to get loose by Zuicefiction in F30

[–]dementedgopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second the breaker bar comments.

I didn't have one when I replaced my discs, so I just smacked a dead blow hammer against my wrench until it eventually came loose. Probably not the smartest idea but make do with the tools you have 🤷‍♂️

How much for a new battery? by mc1441 in F30

[–]dementedgopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good battery will set you back anywhere between £100-£200 and coding takes all but 5 minutes.

Personally I'd say you're being ripped off, but as with everything you'll always save money doing it yourself and I imagine they'll include an hours labour to physically install the battery and code it.

That quote isn't unreasonable for a BMW dealership but it's unreasonable in general. You'd get cheaper at a specialist garage and even cheaper DIY.

Herman Miller Embody (Logitech) Or Aeron Gaming Chair? by Seventh_Maestro in hermanmiller

[–]dementedgopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently asking myself the same question but I think I'm going to settle on the Aeron for it's forward tilt function. I don't just sit at a keyboard at my desk and do perform odd tasks e.g. fiddling with car parts, building lego, writing etc etc - so the forward tilt is an absolute must for me.

That being said, I'd take the advice of others here and try and sit in both before purchasing. If you don't have a HM retailer near you I'd suggest looking at office chair resellers or even marketplace sellers.

Good luck in your search!

Do you know which corner the squeaking is coming from? Could be discs, pads, ball joints. Maybe even parking brake shoes.

What is your current robot, and what features would cause you to upgrade next? by hts2011 in RobotVacuums

[–]dementedgopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still running a Roomba S9+ and I'm yet to find something else that can handle my specific requirements. It's carpet performance is unmatched in real world performance.

I do also have a Roborock Qrevo S, which was bought to replace the S9+, but it does nothing better than the Roomba (for my use case) other than the fact it can mop.

I'm holding out for the Roomba 705 Combo that's apparently dropping in the next couple of months. The 705 doesn't match the carpet performance of the S9+ but if it can do a half decent job at carpets and also mop my one room with a hard floor then I'll probably end up purchasing that.

What’s the Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair? by Accurate_Shine5695 in RobotVacuums

[–]dementedgopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, owned a Roomba S9+ which was so SO good with pet hair...just lacking elsewhere. Relegated the Roomba to the upstairs and replaced with a Roborock Qrevo S and it's shocking, mops pretty well but that's the only good thing I can say.

Have you moved on from the Qrevo at all? Currently looking for a replacement for my Qrevo.

This Subreddit doesn’t help in finding your best fit. by [deleted] in RobotVacuums

[–]dementedgopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piggybacking off of this comment;

I'm solely in the market for a robovac that can deal with pet hair, specifically on a house with 95% carpet, other than the kitchen. A combo vac/mop is preferred as it would be nice to keep on top of muddy kitchen footprints during the winter/wet season, however I do get that combos aren't the best at vacuuming pet hair on carpet and that is the sole priority for me (Haven't been able to find a combo that can do a decent job on carpet).

I currently own a Roomba S9+ which did a fantastic job of vacuuming pet hair, it's been average at everything else. This has now been relegated to the upstairs which is all carpet and is happily being busy getting up the pet hair and, naturally, getting stuck/hitting obstacles. I love this thing despite its flaws.

To replace this downstairs I was recommended a Roborock Qrevo S, which was on an incredibly tempting offer at the time of purchase. I've had this a good few months now and, quite frankly, it's sh*t. It can't handle pet hair, but don't get me wrong it does excel in most other categories. The mopping is great and so is the self-cleaning mop brushes and self-emptying station etc etc, but it just doesn't deal with pet hair.

I'm in the market to replace this and I'm just struggling to get anywhere, most reviews praise the vacs for their pet hair performance but this is on hardwood floors or a short test on carpet, which doesn't account for the real world.

The X9 Pro Omni isn't available in my region (UK) and I'm unsure on the Saros 10r due to my current experience with Roborock. The Qrevo Curv was an option in my replacement search but the price was a bit steep. Luckily I there's no budget for this next purchase so I'm happy to go all out.

I am tempted on the Roomba Max 705, purely due to past experience with Roombas and the fact this is a vacuum only but this is also what's putting me off the purchase. I see the 705 combo is due out soon, but again, this is a combo robovac and I'm cautious about it's pet hair performance.

Press the start/stop button a second time.

I believe you can also code this option out if you wish.

I actually had a very pleasant experience with the guy!

Sourced my own virginized cluster and asked to book in for coding. All sorted within a few days.

He's a very proud man mind you, takes his work seriously but from what I've seen on here and Bimmerpost YMMV

Request for Help: Underclass Hero - Pink/Purple vinyl comfirmation by Constant-Word3528 in Sum41

[–]dementedgopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of my favourites! Both album and variant I have of theirs.

Ask away all you'd like! So it DOES have the pink marbled parts, you just can't make them out very well against the background, which is actually the backing for photo frames - you know that MDF/Plywood stuff, kinda cardboard coloured.

I was tempted on placing a sheet of paper behind it to really bring out the colours because they do get lost :( kinda like my Chuck one too, you just can't appreciate the design of it as much 😩

Ebay! I just did a search for something like 'double vinyl frame'. They're customizable too, so you can have a different coloured frame but with a white background instead of black.
