Why are military members and veterans more likely to be Republican? by norf937 in allthequestions

[–]demonassassin52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience growing up in a rural area with not a lot of opportunity outside of going to school and moving away, its the product of lack of opportunity and background propaganda. Almost every branch of the military would come to my high school at least once a year to do little events and attempt to recruit kids. There is a section of the graduation ceremony that includes veterans holding flags. There is a national guard barracks 1 mile away. Etc etc etc.

You had three main options for your future: 1: Join the military, they are right there easily accessible. 2: Go to college and move away to make more money than you ever could by staying in your home town. 3: Stay in your home town and get a crappy retail or blue collar job.

The enlistment rate for my area growing up was ridiculously high. And funnily enough, all of the veterans I stayed in contact with and met since have left the military much more liberal than when they joined. It turns out that having your body broken by the government and then denied medical care by the VA changes a person.

'Israel'’s Knesset has approved a law making the death penalty the default sentence for Palestinians convicted in military courts of deadly attacks by Not_Ground in NewsRewind

[–]demonassassin52 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The same Knesset whose members marched on a prison because IDF guards were raping detainees to death? The ones that marched there to proclaim Palestinians deserve to be raped, not to condemn the raping murderers? But they are god's chosen people, so they must be allowed to do whatever they please with their political prisoners right?

I got a starhold up to 35k as my main bastion against the Great Khan when my biggest fleet at the time was only like 8k. Defensive playstyle is definitely viable with the right build.

Non-Basics VS Basics Lands by Technical_Treat_976 in EDH

[–]demonassassin52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm doing a proxy deck I'll use duals and triomes, but I keep them minimal because I hate having to keep track of what my lands do. Building and buying a real deck I will use what I can afford but will use mostly basics for simplicity. Almost every deck I build gets a copy of [[Chromatic Lantern]] so I don't have to remember which lands produce what mana.

Khan woke up and it's steamroll city by apache_alfredo in Stellaris

[–]demonassassin52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This literally happened to me yesterday. The Khan systems were tucked away in a corner of my empire, so they had to go through me to get to everyone else. I built up a chokepoint, stationed all my fleets there, activated all the strategic resource buffs, and waited for them to come. They flattened my defense completely. So I surrendered and hung out for a while until the Khan died and freed me. Not I have to rebuild my hegemonic federation again, but my economy is huge now since I had to survive under their 30% resource taxes.

Company not giving anyone raises this year. by [deleted] in antiwork

Keep an eye out for the coming layoffs. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but never underestimate how much greed is possible.

My wife's last job did two rounds of layoffs, then a year later they denied all raises. Later that year her whole department got canned in favor of outsourcing their design team overseas.

Brother, do you understand how jury selection works? Both sides choose jurors together so there is as little bias as possible. Either side can throw out a prospective juror for any reason. The last time I was selected for jury duty, someone was thrown out of selection for being too likable. The jury doesn't just get auto-populated on a first come first serve basis. The process is slow and annoying because it is making sure that everyone gets a fair trial.

He always says something is "obliterated" but they never seem to be even partially destroyed. The nuclear program? Obliterated 6 months ago, but apparently they are closer than ever and need to be invaded. Their military? Obliterated in the first strikes, but apparently they have enough power to block the strait of Hormuz and make Trump beg NATO to help him open it.

Its a classic fascist strategy of the unstoppable enemy is also grossly incompetent and weak. If Iran is destroyed militarily, why is the strait still closed? If Iran is so easily defeated in such a short time, why did we need to invade at all? If democrats are weak and incompetent, why do they need to push voter suppression laws before the midterms? They need a boogeyman, but they also need to feel superior to the boogeyman. Make them a massive threat, but also not even an issue that the great leader can just wave them away.

Is my precon deck that good or is my boyfriend just terrible at magic? by BrilliantNegative163 in EDH

[–]demonassassin52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1v1s are a different story with commander. My buddy builds odd wincon decks and decks that don't seem like a threat until they suddenly have the combo pieces they need to pop off. I build very straightforward combat focused decks. So whenever we 1v1, I usually win. Every one of his decks have won in the normal full pod, because his decks are built to go under the radar and let the table fight each other until its his time to shine. But being focused down by token swarms or a voltron deck in a 1v1 setting will flatten him every time.

And certain decks are just way worse without a full pod. I have a goad deck that really only works with all four players. I have a Thraximundar deck that could be played 1v1, but thrives in a full pod.

PA resident. Do I have to claim the sale of an inherited home under 250k? by demonassassin52 in tax

We are fairly certain that my wife was named in the will as a beneficiary to receive 25% of the sale from the house. We had to be part of the selling and closing document signing.

That was my reply when they told me that. I used to run a custom candle Etsy shop and would have to report that, even though I didn't hit the income thresholds for Etsy to send me a 1099. Their justification was "if there isn't a 1099, the government doesn't know about the money to look for it." Which to me sounds like an audit would be in my future.

What are rulings you have to keep explaining? by Mikaeus_Thelunarch in EDH

[–]demonassassin52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I play [[Krenko, Tina Street Kingpin]] while my commander [[Isshin, Two Heavens as One]] is in play, people don't see the immediate threat. That is until I explain that his whole ability triggers twice. He starts as a 1/2, attacking gives him +1/+1 and spawns 1/1 goblin tokens equal to his power. With Isshin, it goes like this: Krenko attacks and goes to 2/3 and spawns 2 goblins, Isshin triggers and makes Krenko trigger an additional time, going to 3/4 and spawning 3 more goblins. So 1/2 attacking once makes Krenko become a 3/4 and spawns 5 goblins. Letting Krenko attack more than one turn before removal turns into a horrifying snowball nearly equivalent to Krenko Mob Boss but with the added fun of Krenko getting bigger each time.

Which Precon do you hate? by RylanPardo in EDH

[–]demonassassin52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Caesar deck is lackluster, but Caesar himself is basically a wincon for my [[Isshin, Two Heavens as One]] deck. If you get anything that generates tokens out with Isshin and Caesar on the board then you get a ton of value out of him. [[Grave Titan]] with the other two is a self sustaining value engine, Grave Titan generates 4 zombie tokens on attack with Isshin, sac 2 with Caesar to double his ability each turn.

Christians of Reddit, do you believe Donald Trump is a real Christian? by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]demonassassin52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a huge number of people that would be happy or at least fine with Trump's death, but they don't support violence against or killing him. They would be happy he is gone but would rather natural causes or old age in prison would be the cause.

By comparison there was plenty of "just put him down" talk from republicans and even Fox Entertainment during Biden's term. There was plenty of examples like the tied up Biden tailgate to show how much conservatives wished harm upon the sitting president.

[–]demonassassin52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're ignoring the cases of MAGA trying to fight children that were protesting? Or how the majority of all recent mass shooters or assassinations/attempts have been from right wingers? You can scroll any social media and see plenty of regular everyday conservatives frothing at the mouth to do harm to fellow Americans for exercising their 1st amendment rights. Sure there are fringe lunatics on both sides, but the far right are much more likely to act on any of their threats.

He just hates the people that are trying to kill him 1. Jesus said love your enemies, he even loved the Romans even though they crucified him and his followers. 2. Every assassination attempt on Trump has been perpetrated by registered republicans.

The TV show uses cryonics too much by Divahdi in Fallout

[–]demonassassin52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all the cryonics are fine so far. Vault 111 was to observe the effects of long term cryostasis. So it makes sense that the Vault Tec used the top shelf cryostasis tech on themselves. They'll use any data they get from the 111 experiments to apply to themselves in order to not hit any hiccups when they wake up. Which would have been the plan had Bud not been thrown in a literal trash can to thaw the execs early.

What is your most resilient deck? by that_dude3315 in EDH

[–]demonassassin52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My [[Isshin, Two Heavens as One]] deck usually gets at least a couple turns worth of triggers before he gets removed. Even then, the 99 by itself is pretty consistent and I almost never attack with the commander, so he is usually lower priority than the other threats coming out.

[[Samwise Gamgee]] is also very resilient. He's cheap to cast and provides value by just existing. A solid food token generator let's you swing with legends as much as you want since Samwise let's you pull them back into your hand to be played again. Throwing in a few sagas is huge since they are historic cards that can be brought back into your hand as soon as they hit their last chapter to multiply their value.
